I know this will end the way it began: covered in blood.
Too much? Me being a demigod now and all, I figure I can get away with a pinch of melodrama.
I mean, have you seen Olympus? It's a damn soap opera up there. One I'd rather be watching on the couch with popcorn than playing a starring role in.
Not that things are much better down here. I'm still in denial over being madly in love with Cameron, the likely father of my twin babies and the far more evil twin of one of my three boyfriends. Because self-destruction is my brand, apparently.
Fortunately, so is being a vampire-taming, totally badass witch, and I'm going to do whatever it takes to keep my weird little cult-slash-family safe. And convince Cameron he belongs in the circus with the rest of us.
No biggie, right?
(Jk, send help. And nachos. I've been craving those lately.)

Author's Note: New Blood is the fourth book in the Godbearer series, which should be read in order. Vampire mayhem, snark, and hot MMM+ scenes abound.
since it’s almost been a year and old blood still isn’t out i’ve decided to give us an ending.
i present to you “old blood (shitty version)”.
they gather the army with artemis, they go into the underworld but oh nooooo hades is a monster. would you look at that all the beasts are fighting!!!! luckily for us all the monsters are hungry for chase’s cock so we get to experience the first monster circus show and we get to the conclusion that if you want a piece of chase’s ass you need to understand that sharing is caring. with a god added to chase’s harem zeus should be happy but ichor kidnapped him. that bitch finally dies and the others lived happily ever after blah blah blah. chase gives birth at some point i guess.
the fuckery with the titans is above my pay grade so i’ll just ignore it.
Well, this was... this was not what I wanted or expected. Honestly, I'd say this feels like someone's trying to bloat the series. Wasn't it supposed to be a trilogy? Or wasn't this at least supposed to be a finale? And was it so short?? Because it feels like nothing happens here. Yes, the Bad Twin gets to spend some time with Chase but realistically, it only works like that because emotionally, they're already at that point where they are ready to take that next step.
And the plot was just, well, stupid? Something happened. Or more precisely, they got split up. So they tried to get him back. The other side is already working on a solution and makes their effort pretty useless. Now, repeat. Because it happened twice!! And then: the end. That's it. That's the whole plot.
I recently read this article by my favourite author where she (they?) were discussing episodic versus progressive series type and she mentioned how progressive can be challenging because it depends on progress and if the author doesn't deliver, the first book is a success but the next just feel progressively flatter or just worse instead of better and man, I wish it didn't sound like it applies to this series.
Because when nothing happens or it's just "temporary separation" after "temporary separation with complications", it feels like the book is just jerking us around for no reason. And I am not sure it'll be worth it even if certain someone joins the Harem.
I am just... I *was* excited reading the first book and now that excitement is nowhere to be found.
This story starts out with finding out that Hades, Chase's uncle, has the hots for him. Not in a creepy way, more of a he's gonna be part of the harem kind of way. He is also Ichor's brother? I think.
This one picks up immediately after book 3, as we are used to by now, with Chase astroprojecting, as one does, while dealing with Ichor, the original bad goddess of the story. During the fight, he is slapped into the body of Cameron, the twin and father of one of the twins currently being gestated by Chase.
Side note, too many names starting with C in here. I'm writing this all from memory so there may be errors.
Anyways, this begins the getting Cameron to fall for Chase road trip, which goes on for too long. Yes, after everything Cameron has done, Chase still wants him in the harem.
The other fellows are doing their best to get Chase back in his body, and while doing this, we get a drive by sex scene by the mcs of Lightbringer.
Things happen and we again have no resolution of course as Hades has taken Chase and the harem try again to get him back.
I'm not going to lie, it took forever for me to read this. There was a lot of words for very little movement of the story. I personally did not laugh much and the fact that Chase has become the ultimate Mary Sue wasn't enough to keep my attention.
You do need to read this to understand what happens next, but to me, it just wasn't the same as the other books.
4.5 stars. I’m so glad I continued this series. I enjoyed this book so much more than book 3. We really got to see more of Cameron in this book who I always hated in the other books and he’s starting to come around for me now!
This book definitely must be read in order as it picks up right where book 3 left off (after the prologue which intrigued the hell out of me)! Some new things came up again in this book and I don’t know if I was more prepared for absolutely anything because these books have taken some weird turns I wasn’t expecting or what but I really enjoyed where this story is headed!
I still have to say my favourite is Cyrus. I don’t know if he’ll ever be topped but the other three (Cameron, Sam and Alex) are around the same mark for me. However, there’s another character that was introduced in this book that I’m kind of cheering for (not sure what’s going to happen with them but I’m all here for it)!
If you love fantasy romance with a lot of males getting it on together with some absolutely crazy situations that you won’t see coming from a mile away then I absolutely recommend this series (which my friends and I call the Budget Edward series 😂)! Now we sit and wait for book 5!
A complimentary copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.
Not the best installment but it moves the story along. Chase is still snarky, and I love it! The next book is the last in the series and I very excited for it. This ends on a cliffy of sorts, but the reader knows what's going on so as far as cliffhangers go, this is by far the best. You have to read the series in order.
Not a lot happens in this story.
I do recommend the series as a whole so far, just know this one is more filler to move the story along than anything of real substance. Not complaining, just explaining. I am a fan of LC Davis (aka Joel Abernathy) and can't wait for book 5.
Total fubar territory going on here. How are the scamps going to get Chase out of the Underworld? Zeus is MIA! Ichor is still on the warpath. Why can't she be happy to be in the correct vessel. It's not her pets fault they abandoned her. I would have left too, after finding out she kill me because of her throwng a tantrum
Okay. I finished and I have to wait for almost 2 months for the next book. It's my funeral. 😅😅😅
Chase sacrificing himself is becoming a habit. His lovers are correct. He's become self-destructive. Tsk. Cameron has finally come around and I hate to admit Chase with him is hot because I want to keep my grudge. The angst from earlier books has slowed down already but I am still pretty invested on how everything will end.
Hades is interesting though and I wonder how they can fit him into this. Build a new cult for Hades and have the 4 lovers as his paladins with Chase as his 'queen'? Or maybe Hades is just that fond with Chase and he'll end up returning them after he decide they're safe or that they served his political agenda?
Anyway, I hope Hades gets his own happiness whether he ends up alone or together with the guys. He does seem like a misunderstood but an overall OK guy. Also, was that Apollyon a cameo? 🤣🤣🤣
Not worth the time or money. Luckily, I read it on Kindle Unlimited.
Pros: -I love the gorgeous cover. That’s about it.
Cons: -This book was a whole bunch of nothing and fluff until Lash spoke about his vision at the end of chapter 10, which is about 2/3 into the book. -For $4.99 (if you're not using KU), you get about 60 pages of the story actually moving somewhere. Now, that "somewhere" is questionable, as what happens is a weird plot twist that comes out of nowhere and should have been foreshadowed much earlier in the story (i.e. one of the previous books). It would have been a cool twist, had it not been so poorly inserted into the story. Plot twist spoiler here: -Felt like it was a rushed publication to get "something" out. I hate when authors do that. As an avid reader who loves series, I'd rather wait for a fleshed out book that keeps the story moving and is satisfying to read, rather than having "something" just for the sake of having it sooner. Mini spoiler:
I think the only way to save this book is to rewrite and republish it, skipping chapters 1 to 9 completely (or condensing them into just one chapter or less) and continuing with the story by turning this book into a beefy book, and making it the last one of the series. That won't fix the foreshadowing issue, but I don't think the rewrite will happen either. Spoiler:
So...If you value your time and money and you get this from Kindle Unlimited, I recommend you read the prologue and then skip to chapter 10. You will NOT miss ANYTHING, I promise. If you decide to torture yourself and read the whole thing, like I did, let me know if you agree ;)
If you can only read it by paying for it, then don’t bother. You will not be missing much and probably can follow the story by skipping this book entirely.
I really liked the first two books in this series but, I feel like the plot in this book and the previous one just weren't worthy enough to be standalone books. Not enough happens and they could've been added together. Honestly, it kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth when authors do this. It comes off as a money grab imo. I'd much rather read a kickass duology or trilogy than a series that goes longer than it should and also decreases in quality.
At this point I'm not sure that I care to read the next book.
With this rate the next book is going to be 50 pages and will have a longer wait lol. The books keep getting worse and its extremely disappointing to be excited for a book to find out its half the length of the other novels. And obviously i love this series as a whole so i do hope the authors write 10+ books atleast its just that 150 pages for a novel is extremely annoying. Especially after the wait n excitement. Authors keep the next book atleast 300 pages or don't release it lol. Also dont let it be the last bcuz the plot of these books especially first book was really one of the best things i have read in a while.
I really love book 1 to 3. The cliffhanger was so awful, but it was a fantastic read for me. Then book 4… another cliffhanger again… the book was too short and the story is draging. The same issues, kidnapping (i wish the author can think of a different plot raher than another god kidnapping him, i mean we already saw this), chase selfsacrifice (we saw this), his harem saving him (we saw thissss!).
I totaly bought the crazy plot from book 1 to 3… but this time… my excitement was totally gone.
I invested too much on this series that I know I am going to read the final book. Its just that the book went really strong at the beginning. 🙁

Confused by this one, because there was no real plot movement, even with Cameron. Something about Chase was ringing Mary Sue to me in this book. Also, I felt like the introduction of what seems to be a critical character is happening very late in the storyline.
F^ck I love this series. This has to be the most chaotic group of beautiful idiots ever assembled and I frigin love every minute with them. The insane twists an turns are so unpredictable and out of left field that at this point I expect everything. And as usual, Hades (daddy) is superior to all other beings idc.
Also how Alex went from being a toxic fuckboy to my fav in the bf group is hilarious. He’s such a himbo but he’s genuine and I can’t think of a more perfect arc for his character than ending up as a hellhound. He is such a puppy.
If you’re looking for a deep and layered fantasy story line, something that makes sense with epic world building - you won’t find it here. But if you’re an Abernathy stan or someone who enjoys losing themselves to a good cast of characters and don’t care suspend logic and submit to absolute mayhem - you are my kind of ppl and this is for you.
In summary: Joel is the master of entertainment and banter. Period.
So, now Hades enters the plot?? And he is Ichor's twin??? And he wants to fuck Chase?? And he may enter the harem??? Well.
Also: Chase and Cameron shared body which was funny.
And can these people get to an agreement about Chase's babies paternity?? Ichor says that the bio parents are both Cameron and Cyrus and then Hades says it's just Cameron. Like, DECIDE!
Btw: Cameron has barbs on his reproductive system. What the hell.

No just no. I only picked up this book because I have read the rest of this series, but it just kept getting worse. Not many things in this book make sense and I need the plot to make at least some sense. I'm disappointed because it started off strong, but went downhill from there. This was atrocious. Never again.
I need help understanding all the mythology, so found this super helpful link. It explains everything if u want a deeper understanding of what's discussed on the book: https://www.quora.com/In-Greek-mythol...
This was a short instalment a bit too short for my liking.
Personally, the most exciting thing for me in this book was Hades. I liked him and I’m hoping Chase gives him a chance because if anyone could love a monster it’s Chase.
My interest in this series is waning though probably because it feels likes it’s dragging on too long.
*I voluntarily read this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else's*
I enjoyed the book but this was RIDICULOUSLY SHORT and it was supposed to be the last book! I will read the final book because I’ve gotten this far, but I have lost interest in the series now :/ Seriously don’t understand why this and the now book 5 couldn’t have been one book 😒
I had high hopes, that are now completely and utterly deflated.
Disappointed is not a strong enough word for how I felt about this book, compared to how much I loved the previous ones, this was such a let down.
The book felt like a place holder for the next one, a lot of sex, plot that literally went nowhere, a dream sequence that took up way too much space and had nothing to say for the story.
I have loved Chase in all the other books but not in this one, it seemed like a different character, a dumber character for some reason. How did he not see any clues or realise things were wrong when in previous books he had the brain to snatch things up? It took forever to get anywhere, then they are separated and it's over. This was short and could easily have been a part of the final book. I have half a mind to ignore this ever happened and I regret paying for something that cheapened an awesome series.
2.4-2.6/5 … so apparently there’s one more book to this series and there’s no word anywhere about when the final instalment (“Old Blood”) will be released—only that it was removed from websites like Goodreads and Amazon. Very disappointed. Would not have started this series had I known and frankly, don’t feel like it would be worth a reread if it takes too long before it comes out (which it probably will since Abernathy’s Patreon seems to only go up to chapter 4 as of mid 2024 and Reddit comments suggest the book was pulled back in May of 2024 because the authors were not satisfied with it and chose to do a rewrite? Abernathy’s website also appears to be unavailable/under construction and social media for both authors appear to be dormant since 2019/2020).
If there’s still going to be a final instalment, there really should be a listing for it on Goodreads so readers know it’s not complete before starting it, but that there’s a plan still for one. Or there should be a note in the series’ description to say it won’t be finished after all if it’s been abandoned. Otherwise, going off the publication years, it looked like book 4 was the final book.
On an other note, I should mention too that this whole series kept taking frustrating/weird turns ever since it went all “Greek Gods” in book 2. It also often had trouble describing the sex scenes in ways that allowed the reader to actually follow moves so it was too often unclear what was going on, jarring the reader out of the scene. (And *potential spoiler* the dream sex scene in this particular instalment had very icky implications and was just strange and disconnected from the rest of the narrative; it implied it was likely glamoured rape until it suggested it was actually a spiritually conducted tantric scene with his harem, only to then turn out to be just a sex dream. Basically a pointless interlude, smack in the mid of an abduction..smh.)
I probably should’ve DNF’ed the series at this point because I haven’t really enjoyed it since book 1. It was a frustrating read and felt really hard to get through, I would start it get annoyed and put it down and then pick it up again. But I forced myself through it. Honestly maybe it wasn’t that bad, it was similar quality and content as the 3rd book but since it was so difficult for me to get through I give it a 1/5
💔 - Very similar plot line and content as book 3, it’s starting to feel repetitive. (Chase gets kidnapped or is ill -> Cyrus calls someone (eg. Lash) -> they try to get him back -> they’re efforts are useless because Chase gets himself back with the help of Cameron)
- Half the story felt unnecessary because we read about the harem trying to get Chase back all while knowing that their attempts are useless because Chase is already on his way 😭 like all of Cyrus and Sam’s pov could’ve been condensed because they didn’t really add any substance into the story
- On the other hand the other half of the story Chase/Cameron was kinda boring? Like the romance/fluff wasnt really there or even cute? I personally just didn’t feel any romantic connection between them except them both being like “I want him” but why?? why do they even like each other 😭
- This one isn’t actual criticism just nonsense. Hades. Bro the fact that I know Chase is gonna choose the harem over HADES?? makes me wanna cry because 1. why the heck does my man Hades even like Chase??? 2. If Hades wants you why would you pick those losers like are you crazy?? Like he’s literally Hades?? I’m honestly just sad that Hades was even involved in this shit couldn’t any other god who I don’t care about been chosen 😔
Overall, I don’t feel like this story really added anything to the overall series? It feels like the series has stretched more then it should have and maybe a trilogy would’ve been better 🧍🏾♀️ But yeah 👍🏾
rereadability: 1/10 (I would really really rather not)
🏷️ Tropes & tags: MMMMM (why choose/spoke and wheel) Omegaverse Forced proximity Second chance Vampires, shifters and supernaturals Witches Betrayals Possessive and protective love interests Alphahole Age gap (duh, vampires lol) POV: 1st person, multi Heat: 4 scenes, medium heat Angst: low
📝 Review & thoughts: Oh damn….. here I thought that after 4 books the series would be over, instead I just spent 2 days reading, only to discover that the last book is not out yet (it’s been 2 years…). I feel so stup!d, I should’ve checked better.
I was having a lot of fun, even though it seems that every book gets shorter somehow lol.
Do I recommend it? Yes, only if you are sure the story is completed before you start… ends in a big cliffy and it’s not really worth it to me if we can’t get an ending…
⚠️ Content warnings (not extensive): Dubcon: no Noncon: no Cults, tox!c relationship, mpregnancy, k!dnapping
I am distraught to learn this series isn't finished and now I have to wait for the next book to be published 🥲 UGH
Also I'll agree with other reviewers that this felt pretty redundant to the last book and this whole misunderstanding thing where the harem is doing something overly dramatic to save chase while we know as readers that it's completely useless and dumb because chase is saving himself is....tiresome since this is like the third time in the series that it's happening.
I don't want another person added to the harem, I really just wanted to see the harem get some resolution. The whole awakening the Titans thing is making me really nervous this is going to get dragged out past the next book instead of just GIVING US AN ENDING. Can we please have that? I'm begging for the next book to be the last one. And for it to not take years to come out so I forget everything that's happened.
I just don’t know about this one. This was the 4th book in the series and the storyline just seemed like a detour. I get that Chase is a godbearer and everyone wants him but bringing yet another dude in God or not is overkill. I think things went off track here a bit- unnecessary. I hope it was just to add another book before finalizing the series. I lived the previous books so much even though I don’t read harem books this series was addictive. This book did have it’s good moments as well. As always the writing was solid. The world building in this series is one of my favorites and I’m hoping we get spin offs. Also the individual time with Chase and Cameron was fabulous and I love any time with Lash. He needs a book!
*Edit- I did just subscribe to the Patreon where the last book is being uploaded a chapter at a time, so I’m less annoyed now lol.
By the time I started this book, it was too late for me. If I had known that this was an unfinished series with no sign of the last book so far, I don’t know that I would’ve started it. But I did, and when I started it I couldn’t stop. I wanted to take one star off because I’m annoyed that I got so invested and now I have to wait for an undetermined amount of time, but it wouldn’t be the first time that happened. And I love this series so much. I’m just choosing to be optimistic that maybe the last book will be out this year. Of course this one had to end in a cliffhanger with so much at stake, and I’m shaking, crying, throwing up, passing away etc.
