Shuichi Shigeno (Japanese author profile: しげの秀一) is a manga artist, best known for the manga series Initial D. Shigeno has also created Bari Bari Densetsu, Dopkan, and Tunnel Nuketara Sky Blue ("First Love in Summer") all prior to the manga that would make him famous in 1995. In 1985, he received the Kodansha Manga Award in shōnen for Bari Bari Densetsu.
Ah well, looks like one last thing before the team set up. The rivalry could've done with more of a build up. It felt a bit random. The dad is way too chilled back. I'm going to be disappointed if Tak and Natalie end up together at the end.

I loved the dynamic that it’s the sons going at it but I wished we got some chapters of the fathers being in the passenger seat training their boys and showcasing the counters they could have told each other. But instead they just race and that’s it, we’re not even done with the race.

Had I been reading this during the original run, that cliffhanger ending would have chafed. But, I get to pick up the next ratty, sun-yellowed volume and see how the race turns out.
