Of Fate and Kings #2

Gerettet vom Drachenkönig (Von Schicksal und Königen 2)

Rate this book
Everyone fears the Dragons that live in the ice mountains, beyond the edge of our kingdom. Fierce creatures that can take the shape of a man or that of a terrifying beast.

Accused of practicing witchcraft, I’m sentenced to death by my Uncle—the King. Tied to a stake and sentenced to burn, he offers me as sacrifice to the fierce Dragon King.

The moment King Aurdyn arrives, he claims me as his. He rescues me from the flames and says that I am his T’kara—his Treasured One—bound to him by Fate.

He is known as a terrible and bloodthirsty Dragon. None can stand against his wrath. Fire burns in his eyes when he looks upon me, and I find myself drawn to him in ways I do not fully understand.

The more time we spend together, I begin to wonder: What does it mean to be Claimed by the fierce Dragon King?

“Learn to wield your powers, and trust your heart, Freyja. You will know when the moment arrives. ”

No toco madera.

description

Yes, but… did you not need to rest as well?”
“I am a Dragon.” I tip up my chin. “We do not require as much rest as humans seem to.”
-“Of course not.” She breathes out an irritated sigh. “Because everyone knows Dragons are superior to all other beings,” she says, a hint of sarcasm lacing her tone.
We may have only recently met, but I do enjoy the fire in her eyes when she is riled. “This is truth. I am glad you are finally recognizing this.”
“Are you serious?” she asks incredulously. “I was being sarcastic.”
“It does not change the fact that it is true,” I reply smugly.
Her mouth drifts open and her cheeks darken. “Well, one thing’s for sure,” she grumbles. “Dragons are definitely the most arrogant beings I’ve ever met.”
“Met many Dragons, have you?” I arch a teasing brow.
She narrows her eyes. “One is enough.”

Anything Jessica Grayson writes, I gobble up. I loved this one. I actually liked this one better than the last book in this series and I think it’s because the hero was SO. FREAKIN. PERFECT. He’s grumpy, grouchy, arrogant and so damn literal—I just fucking loved him to pieces.

He swoops in from the sky and saves the heroine from being burned to death—for the crime of witchcraft. She’s his fated mate, but the road to their HEA isn’t all roses and sunshine. It’s more like running from insidious and power-mad Mages intent on killing them, thru brutal snow storms while being injured.

The heroine is kind and classy, always thankful for those helping them out. And although she’s trained as a warrior, she’s still soft and feminine. But she’s not quite certain if being mated to a possessive, grumpy dragon is a good idea. Especially if he can’t love. And does he even want to be with her? Without the mate bond, he’d probably sooner eat her than mate her…right? She has to figure that out, and stay alive. And keep her dragon from snarling at everyone who comes too close.

This was a great read, the writing was smooth and flawless, typical for this author and her world-building was vivid, without being overdone or overshadowing the characters or story.

Safe. both virgins. No others, no cheating or sharing or abuse. HEA with epilogue and extended epilogues available thru newsletter sign up.

It started good but it didn't catch so much my interest as the first book that I couldn't put down. Maybe it was the arrogance of the mmc but I was always visualising him in my mind as a gorilla beating his chest saying "I am a Dragon". Don't laugh at me but that was the whole attitude pretty much up until the end, though he was a softie with the fmc.

I looove Freyja, but Aurdyn I still don't know how to feel about him.

I think he's a good mate because he deeply cares for and loves her. But he is insufferable as a person/dragon. He's rude, demanding, ungrateful, and abrasive—overall an asshole toward other beings.

I really wanted to like him, but it’s difficult when I can only remember a handful of times he was somewhat decent to others.

It seems like most of what he really did in this book was stake his claim around Freyja. At first, I thought it was cute, but after a while of him snarling, giving death glares, and constantly threatening any guy who even glanced her way, it just became really tiring and frustrating.

I love me a possessive man, but Aurdyn took it to another level. I wish I could say it was fun, but that would be a lie. 🤷‍♀️

Freyja appears to be a bit annoyed with this at first, but I feel she eventually gets used to it over time. It seems like he's going to stick to his habits, no matter what.

Anyway, the story itself wasn't bad; I honestly enjoyed it. It's just that Aurdyn's aggressive behavior was too much for me, and it diminished some of the fun I was having.

But overall, it was still a good read and worth reading, imo.

That Dragon King is purely a red flag. Everyone and their mothers are nothing but nice to Freyja and him and he behaves like the biggest asshole... He's not just grumpy, don't let these reviews fool you.

Falling in love with a dragon like Aurdyn is hard. He’s arrogant, possessive, and thinks he knows everything. Add to it that he’s the dragon king, and you’ve got off-the-charts alpha-male syndrome. Lucky for him that his heroine Freyja is strong-willed like a willow—she knows when to bend and accommodate, and when to stand her ground.

Claimed by the Dragon King is a fated-mates tale, but each human woman doesn’t automatically fall for her mate. The resulting journey the heroes go through enriches more than just their relationship with their mates. In this book, Freyja must learn how dragons express their emotions compared to humans. Aurdyn has to learn not only how to communicate his feelings, but also to address the need to bring his dragon folk out of self-imposed isolation and back into the world at large.

And that world Grayson is building her Of Fate and Kings series is soooo good. Claimed by the Dragon King enriches it in so many ways. We learn more about races like the dwarves and dragons in this book, and one of my favorite parts was the semi-jocular relationship between Aurdyn and the dwarf king Davin.

There’s also more to learn about the Wraith attacks, how the Mages are driving them, and the dangers this presents to the human kingdoms of this world. I had a great time reading the action-driven story of Aurdyn and Freyja, even if the action at times drove the plot more than anything. I’m excited to read the next books in this series!

Freyja is accused of witchcraft so she is to be burned at the stake by the king who is her uncle and has been put under a spell, while the flames start to burn Freyja she prays for help when suddenly a dragon appears and saves her life. There is so much more going on in this fantastic story I loved it and the characters and I highly recommend this book.

"Arrogant Dragon." | "Weak human."

The gods could not have chosen two more stubborn beings to bring together than Aurdyn and Freyja. Are they going to break their bonds before they even get to the safety of the Dragon King's kingdom? Or will the time trapped by injury and snowstorms help them wade through their difference?

Oh man the build up!!! And not just for if these two are going to be together, but if they both survive, if they can actually accomplish taking their world back, and can they get past the misconceptions they have for each others people to truly understand each other and be happy?

"My grump dragon protector." | "My T'kara, my fire heart."

The things I enjoyed the most out of this second book was honestly finding out what the Dragon King's anatomy looked like and getting to the scene where he appeared in book one!

I love a series that has the interconnection between different story lines and different people, all coming together to combat the big boss at the end.

"Arrogant/Grumpy Dragon" has become my favorite lines spoken by Freyja the whole book.

The first book in this series was ok. However, as I began to read this book I was disappointed as I found that book 2 was overly similar to book 1.

Here are the similarities
-Human girl with magic is fated to a non human male to bring about an Era of peace.

-All the girls are related In books 1-3. The girl in book 1 is the sister of the girl in book 3 and the girl in book 2 is their cousin.

-Everything takes place right around the same time. I was honestly bored with book 2 because it felt like I was reading book 1 over again, just with different characters.

-The books are repetitive going over the dragons arrogance and his freyja's weakness dozens of times if not more, same with book 1

I enjoyed book 1 but only begrudgingly finished book 2 to give it a full chance. I won't be reading book 3 because I fear it will be more of the same repetition.

I loved this book. Jessica Grayson's books have captivated me since I read the release of the first Ice World Warriors book. Ever since then, I'll read anything she's written that I can get my hands on. The storytelling is beautifully done, but I always find myself completely captivated by the characters. This one was no exception. Great world building. I loved Aurdyn and Freyja. Especially Aurdyn. He's grouchy, growly, and very amusing at times. This story was exciting and enthralled me from the start. I couldn't put it down. Loved It! 5 stars.

I did really like this but it is basically the same story as the first book... like almost exactly the same. Yes, there's some minor changes like dragons instead of dark elves but the stories were eerily parallel and similar. 3.5 ⭐️

Jessica Grayson is an amazing fantasy author. If she writes, I read and Claimed by the Dragon King didn't disappoint. A plot driven, slow burn, fated mates romance between a human princess and a dragon king.

Possessive and arrogant H with a soft spot for his Fated One
Compassionate and brave h
Told is dual POV
Spicy and descriptive (brief) - h/H are both virgins - knotting, biting/marking
No cheating or ow/om drama
Violence/War
Vivid but simple world building
Epilogue
HEA

A little lengthy but enjoyable nonetheless.

Love the beast!

I loved book one so much I couldn't wait for book two! I remembered reading about the Dragon King at the end of book one and I wasn't sure what to make of his description. His tail unnerved me. I forgot all about that detail in the story because I absolutely love his personality! I lost count how many times he made me laugh out loud. He is arrogant, brutally blunt, dominant and fierce. He is perfect and makes this story a five. Looking forward to the rest of the series!

Great read. I really liked Aurdyn's personality, he appeared as an arrogant dragon king but he was multi layered, he had a soft sweet side that he showed to Frejya. He was also very possesive like a dragon should be.
Freyja was strong and a perfect match for Aurdyn. She has magic and is sentenced to burn, but Audryn saves her. The adventure and fantasy was fun, although it was a little slow at the beginning.

Plot: ⭐⭐⭐
Romance: 💗💗💗💗
Spiciness: 🔥🔥🔥
Action: 💥💥💥
Angst: 😞😞

This was basically the same story as Bound to the Dark Elf King but in different trappings. It still had the cyclical and repetitive nature and very similar forced miscommunication issues as the first book. But, for some reason I liked this one more? I liked how literal Aurdyn was and how Freyja could see right through him.

I'll likely listen to the others once they become available on the library audiobook apps.

Great read

What can I say. Jessica Grayson does it again. This book is well written, full of action. I love how the dragon is so moody. MC worked so well together. I love how she wrote so the other characters from the other books appears in each book. I will read anything she writes.

Thus far this series has been awesome and it only gets better.

Already pre ordered the next one, yes it's that good. The characters and world building are excellent. Not my usual gruff badass MMCs, but I loved them both anyway.

As ever this beautiful story, for me, has that fairytale feel to it. There is just something about the author's writing that pulls you into the story and doesn't let go. A growly grump if ever there was one, Aurdyn has rather a reputation for the threats of setting things on fire if he is not getting his way. To be fair he has done this already by only to the hair on messenger's heads, still it does show that he is not as cruel as he is portrayed to be. True that nothing seems to touch him which is why he is also thought to have a heart of ice but then if you have not really been brought up with gentlenese and affection it is hard to know how to show it yourself. Well that was true until he find his T'kara. While Freyja might be a weak human she has more than enough internal fire to melt his ice walls. Already no stranger to loss and pain, the first time that she sees the dragon she was about to be burned as a witch as decreed by her own uncle. She had a vision which she shares with Aurdyn, why she's not sure, in the hope that she can maybebe able to prevent the loss of many lives in a potential war. Since her dragon can deny her nothing, although he might grumble first, threaten to burn things and generally have a huff, Freyja hopes that he will help her. Aurdyn on the other hand just wants to win his mate and have her with him for ever, if saving those useless humans is what takes it then he'll do that too, for her... but will she stay with him when all is done? Will he ever win her heart?

Freyja has been accused by her uncle, the King, of witchcraft and is given up as an offering to the Dragon King. When King Aurdyn comes to collect his offering, he claims her on the spot, claiming her to be his Treasured One. He's known for his ruthlessness and bloodthirsty ways, but maybe there is more to him than meets the eye.

I loved this book and enjoyed it quite a bit more than the first one. Aurdyn is a grumpy, rough around the edges guy who you can't help but love, and mix in Freyja's sweet nature, you have the perfect couple. The steam was great, although I would have liked either more of it, or longer scenes since everything felt so short. The plot was done well and wasn't overtaken by the steamy portions.

Mystical Adventures, Grief and Triumph

From the very start Freya and Aurdyn have this connection with witty dialogue throughout. It's a true taming of the arrogant Dragon King who triumphs over evil with the help of Dwarves, Dark Elves, and Fae. It takes the familiar from other tales and spins it differently. I will read the next story in this story vein by Jessica.

I don't remember much of the first book in the series, but there was this mage whose name was Ylari, that made me remember a bit... and it wasn't all good stuff as I *think* the author had several books mashed together in the sense that by reading this one I already know what's happening in books 1, 3, and 4...
