He’s never been kissed, and she’s about to rock his world…
Bubbly actress Sam Adamson is this close to making it big – all she needs is one lucky break. But when she lands a meeting with Hollywood’s biggest star, she blows it by blurting out a lie.
Now, she’s got ten days to write an album with a man who wants absolutely nothing to do with her.
Unwillingly swept up in her grand plan is shy virgin Jamie MacDougall. He has the voice of an angel and the body of a god, but he’s never set foot outside Scotland – or his comfort zone – and fame is the last thing on his mind.
As the music flows, sparks fly. But when the limelight beckons, Sam’s about to discover that getting what she thinks she wants might mean losing what she really needs.
Musical Games is a steamy, standalone romantic comedy packed with small-town shenanigans and all the feels. No cheating or cliffhanger – just a hot and hilarious ride to a guaranteed happily-ever-after!
Evie Alexander is a multi-award-winning author of sexy romantic comedies, blending snort-laugh humor and panty-melting chemistry into unputdownable stories that will steal your heart.
When she’s not dreaming up swoony heroes and relatable heroines, Evie can be found in the beautiful West Country of the UK, where she lives with her ridiculously patient husband, miracle daughter, and two dogs who think they run the show.
If you want to find her online, here’s where to go!
Musical Games is book 4 of the Kinloch series by Evie Alexander. It is a standalone rom-com, told in 3rd person from both points of view with a happy ending.
WHAT TO EXPECT: ✔️ opposites attract ✔️ small town ✔️ forced proximity
Soap opera star Sam Adamson wants more out of her career. Believing that a bigger star could help her achieve this goal she heads to Scotland for a week to meet Brad Bauer, a famous Hollywood actor.
In her desire to succeed, she puts her foot where her mouth is and only Jamie, the local electrician, can help her because their two voices combined are pure magic.
As Jamie and Sam work on songs for Brad’s next blockbuster movie, the two get to know each other and fall hard for one another. But when they’re offered a deal of a lifetime, can they harmonize their lives as well as they can their voices?
Sam and Jamie are delightful characters. Sam is dazzling, a loveable extrovert who felt bigger than life which made it impossible for Jamie not to fall for. While Jamie is sexy closet songwriter, he’s also a shy virgin who hides behind a wall of grumpiness. They’re perfect for one another if they can just figure out how to communicate.
I can’t believe this is the last installment in Evie Alexander’s Kinloch series. It’s been one crazy, sweet and fun ride from start to finish and Musical Games is no exception. I laughed, smiled and fanned myself and thoroughly enjoyed Sam and Jamie’s journey of self-discovery and love.

I loved writing this book so much! Sam and Jamie’s story has been in my head forever and was happening behind the scenes during Hollywood Games. Now they’ve got their own book and I’m so happy to be able to share it with you!
If you’re down for: 🏴 A Scottish grump in a kilt who can bench press you over his head (and is a secret virgin) 🌞 A sunny actress with a huge heart and a runaway mouth 💖 More feels than an emotional rollercoaster 🤣 Small town shenanigans and Hollywood hilarity 🔥 Steam so hot the book has its own sex index…

✅ Editorial reviews ✅ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Wow! This book had it all - and I could not put it down, read it laughing and crying during one cold rainy day. Sam is a world travelled extroverted actress who makes friends easily, while Jamie is an introverted electrician with amazing musical talent but stays close to Kinloch and his close friends and family. Their chemistry is off the charts but the more he is attracted to her, the more he shuts down, and she thinks he hates her. To make matters worse Sam promises an album of songs they will write together and the forced proximity drives them both crazy but makes beautiful music. Their interactions are both fun and painful to watch, but they both have true relatable emotional issues, which are told via dual POV in a thoughtful and sensitive manner. This takes place in parallel time to the other books in the series so can be read as a standalone, but the characters repeat and all of the books are wonderful and available in KU if you have it. I found this to be a bit more serious, less zany, and more "gripping in the feels" than the other books in the series, but I loved it just as much. Enjoy!” L Benison
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Once again Evie Alexander has created a perfect blend of humour, drama, craziness, emotion and steam. You don't have to read the previous books in the series to dive into this one, but doing so will give you a more complete picture because some events run concurrently. (Also: you'll get more of the humour, drama, steam etc, which isn't really a hardship.) I loved shy, awkward Jamie with his hidden sex-god tendencies, and my heart went out to Sam and her deep-seated insecurities. Together they make the perfect partnership, both on stage and in private. All of the supporting cast - both those we've met before and new ones - are fully realised and developed, and I was completely nose-to-screen enthralled all the way to the fairytale ending (and let's not forget the sex index). Another triumph.” Sarah Cloud
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Riveting and beautifully written, this is the final book of the Kinloch series and it wraps everything up in a nice bow.
I noticed it in Kissing Games, but these books run concurrently to the first books in the series. (More specifically, this one is on the same timeline as Hollywood Games.) That's an incredibly hard thing to do as an author. Alexander left no plot holes I could find, and these books flow together flawlessly.
Let's talk about Jamie. I've been waiting for his story through the entire series, and I found him frustrating as hell now that we finally have his inner thoughts on a page. (Fantastic character building. Alexander obviously plotted and crafted him carefully because we're fully immersed in his thoughts, lack of experience, and feelings.) His hesitation and inexperience add to the story. Hell, they make the story. I wanted to shake him and tell him to sack up and was very frustrated with him only to start to adore him just over halfway through. When Sam and Jamie get together, it's electric. It is a perfect case of opposite personalities creating the rift in the story and keeps you on the edge of your seat on how they'll make it work with leading such opposite lives. Absolute perfect grumpy/sunshine.
I was sucked in from the beginning. Alexander gives us pinpoint accurate descriptions that are so lively and well-drawn that you can practically taste the food (and Prosecco,) smell the Kinloch air, and feel the heat.” Tori Ross
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Musical Games! Yes! This is book 4 in the Kinloch Series. You can read it as a standalone, but it's so much better if you've read the other ones first. It's sooooooo good!
I am absolutely here for: Real anxiety/panic representation! A 27 year old male virgin who learned to be a sex god from romance novels. Heck yeah! Two characters that are absolutely made for each other. Swoon! Jamie knowing how to cook and sneakily cooking at his sister's house Quiet heroes Loud heroines The Sex Index
This is an ARC, so you know, not supposed to quote it, but I loved the part where Sam gets irritated by a doormat female heroine in a romance novel. Same girl! Same!” Stephanie Beaudoin

My Thoughts: This is book number four in the Kinloch series. I have read most of them and they are fantastic. While this is a continuation series, it could also be read as a standalone. This is a forced proximity trope and grumpy v sunshine trope. I love the grumpy v sunshine trope, it just makes for a good read. Love the small town in Scotland, it is so descriptive, you can feel yourself right there with Sam and Jaime. Sam wanted to land a big role to meet with Brad, who has been in previous books as a huge movie star. Sam then meets Jamie, will he sidetrack her? Or will she be able to land the big role?
The story is a dual narration story with Jamie and Sam, from their POV. Sam is fierce, tends to be an extrovert, and just loves life. Jaime is more of an introvert, shy, and is very grumpy. The characters were well developed with depth, witty banter, chemistry, and creatively built up. The supporting characters were continuing to be explored. Jaime had not been in a prior relationship and struggled to tell Sam how he feels. This miscommunication sparks some tension between the couple, which I can appreciate, as it has taken me almost three decades to be able to fully communicate with my husband. The author’s writing style was complex, well-executed, crisp, steamy, spicy, intriguing, and kept me absolutely engaged. I love the character build up, plot development, and the endings of this entire series.
I love Alexander’s writing style and will read anything she puts out, this is no different. It has all the amazing qualities of a romance novel, its witty, has amazing chemistry, an awesome cast of characters, steamy, emotional, and well rounded with an excellent flow and pace. I highly recommend picking up this book and also the entire series. It was a fun series to read. 🏷 . . #whatimreading #booklover #bookpic #bookstagram #fiction #booksoninstagram #reviewer #bookfriends #bookrecs #bookishgirl #2023bookgoals #bookpost #Book-Reviews #netgalley #romance #romcom #kinoch #muscialgames #steamyreads #scottishnovel #eviealexanderauthor #scottishlovestory #laughoutloud #kindle
Sam wants more. Bigger roles. Better roles. Making up an excuse to leave behind her life as a small-time soap opera star for a week, she heads to Scotland to meet Hollywood's big star Brad. She meets Jamie instead, a homebody who still loves with his mother, and works at his dead-end electrician's job day in and day out. Jamie has never left Scotland and is perfectly content to continue living with his mother, even in his late twenties. Sam's arrival shakes up his routine and he can't stop thinking about her. Sam can't stop thinking about Jamie but is determined to use Brad to get ahead in her career. Will she get sidetracked by Jamie or will he be the best thing to ever happen to her life?
Another book set in the Kinloch series! I love that the author brings us a new story and new depth to characters from the other books of the series. Jamie is sweet and broody while Sam is career and future-focused. This book felt like a gender role reversal where the man is the good-looking yet sexually inexperienced main character while the woman is the lively and hot breadwinner.
While Jamie is the hunky male hero, you'll have to go along with the fact that he is a sex God virgin. Don't roll your eyes but everything he learned, he learned from reading raunchy romance novels. Jamie has never had a girlfriend, never been kissed, and never had sex before. He is also poor at communicating, assumes that Sam will see how much he has fallen for her without actually saying anything, and also believes she's too good for him and won't want to slow down her life to accommodate him in it. I thought the relationship aspects of Jamie and how he approached his infatuation with Sam as so believable. Of course, someone who was never in a romantic relationship before wouldn't know how to communicate with their partner! Apparently, Jamie didn't learn how to talk to Sam about his feelings from those same raunchy romance novels. This is the kind of book and the kind of relationship-inexperienced character that makes you want to yell, "just tell her how you feel, man!"
The idea and main plot, just like the previous books in the series, were well-executed, simple, and clean yet there's always something going on.
I am very drawn to the romance, the writing style, and the intriguing plot of the Kinloch Series.
If you love over-the-top dreamy protagonists - even flawed they seem so unattainable in their perfection - you will absolutely enjoy this book and this series.
Sam Adamson is so close to catching a break that could make her acting career, so she deems it worth the risk to blow off her shooting schedule for the chance to meet a Hollywood A-lister, only to ruin things by nervously blurting out an enormous lie. Contrary to what she so adamantly declared to said star, she doesn’t actually have an album inspired by his new film and now she has just ten days to come up with one and her co-writer clearly dislikes her.
Painfully shy electrician Jamie is content to remain in his comfortable routine and when gorgeous, rambunctious Sam barrels into his life, she turns everything upside down. Jamie may have an amazing voice and body, but he’s never even had a proper kiss and he’s certainly not interested in becoming famous, but he agrees to help Sam after a good bit of pressure from his mom and sister.
As their songs rapidly take shape, feelings also bloom between Sam and Jamie, but Sam’s lies are beginning to catch up to her and they come with consequences. When the talented pair are offered an amazing opportunity, it only makes the glaring differences between them that much more obvious, and it seems their burgeoning fame may tear them apart rather than keeping them together.
Sam and Jamie were an adorable pair of idiots, and their story was both hilarious at times and also stressful. Both of our MCs had painfully relatable anxieties and they stressed me out at times, making me want to yell at them both, but I also couldn't help rooting for them. They so obviously belonged together and just needed to get out of their own way. Thankfully, when they both struggled to do that, we had Fiona and Zoe to help them along. Jamie is the ultimate virgin hero if that’s your thing, and his struggle to cope with being bombarded by feelings that were totally new and overwhelming for him was both adorable and heart wrenching, but I loved seeing him gain the confidence to finally go after what (and who) he wanted. I was so relieved and satisfied when these two finally confessed their feelings for one another, instead of continuing to assume they each knew how the other was feeling, in the ultimate grand romantic gesture. This story was both hilarious and heartwarming for me and I’m close to saying it’s my favorite of the series, but I still can’t quite bump Rory and Zoe from that pedestal. This series has been a joyful escape for me, and I’m excited to see what’s next from Evie.
Food may be the way to a man’s heart, but a sweet, sexy, sensitive songwriter with a guitar (who can cook and knows his way around an electrical panel, not to mention… ahem) is the way to this girl’s heart! Am I totally crushing on Musical Games’ Jamie right now? YES AND I AM NOT AFRAID TO ADMIT IT!
In this final instalment of Evie Alexander’s completely enthralling series, soap actress Sam goes to Kinloch to visit her pal Zoe… and crash the set of Braveheart 2 to meet superstar Brad Bauer in hopes of giving her career a boost.
What Sam wasn’t counting on is meeting (and cohabitating with) the aforementioned Scottish hunk Jamie while bunking in his hospitable mom Morag’s nearby home. After doing the initial dance of awkwardness and denying their obvious attraction, the two perform a song together and instantly discover their voices were simply MFEO: Made For Each Other.
Sam backs them into a commitment to record original songs for Braveheart 2, forcing her and Jamie to collaborate. As they spend time attuned to one another, it’s not long before they let down their guards and get down to the business of loving one another.
I can’t say enough good things about this story, but my eyes are watery from swooning and my cheeks are sore from smiling. It hits all the right chords and it can only be because IMHO, Sam and Jamie are Alexander’s most harmonious duet to date! An easy 5 stars.
I feel like I spent this whole book with tears in my eyes. Half the time from laughing so hard, and the other half as Sam and Jamie tried to break my gooey marshmallow heart. I don’t quite know if this was grumpy v. sunshine, opposites attract, enemies to lovers, or some perfect combination of all of them. Though, I’m leaning heavily into that last one. I adored these two together, but the hurdles they needed to overcome, primarily within themselves but with everything else as well, made me nearly despair if they would get to their Happily Ever After. I’m so glad we got another chance to come back and spend time with the residents of Kinlock. I had so much fun, and I’m already looking forward to our next opportunity to do it again. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author through Booksprout.
Thank you Evie Alexander, once again, for doing your magic and telling the story of these two beautiful, wounded, self-doubting souls in such a brilliant, brilliant way! Musical Games is the fourth book in the series which takes place in Kinloch in the Scottish Highlands (and don't tell the other books but I think this one might be my favorite!) and while it can be read as a standalone I think it is even better if you read Highland Games, Hollywood Games and Kissing Games first. And you really should!
Let’s face it, it can be hard to make the next book in a series as good as, or better than, its predecessors, but I can sum up my feelings for Musical Games in three words. Pure. Dead. Brilliant!
The antics of the Kinloch Crew had me howling with laughter! From Mrs McCreedie getting to live her best life with her RL ‘An Officer and a Gentleman’ moment (why is this something I can see The Mommy doing?) to Morag brandishing the fire extinguisher, not to mention demented Daleks and a stoned Yoda courtesy of Sam’s inner monologue… she’s a girl after my own heart, that one *smirks*.
Although, I did think Sam was going to give me an ulcer with her penchant for being economical with the truth. I lost count of how many times I uttered, “Gonnae no dae that!” Some might say Sam is a bit gallus however her bravado just masks her insecurities.
Do you like virgin MMCs? *wiggles eyebrows* What about cinnamon roll heroes? *sighs* Well, enter stage right Oor Jamie. I’ve had a soft spot for Jamie since Highland Games. It was all that blushing… but, who. Freaking. Knew?! *shrugs*
*clears throat*
I was SO not expecting that. His ‘research’ made me cackle. *whispers* He’s not just a maestro with a guitar *winks* Let me put it this way, he is a tad orally fixated.
*sighs* I didn’t know if I wanted to mother him or jump his bones. Sorry… too much?
His insecurities rival Sam’s. Having said that, together they are dynamite, on and off stage. (I swear I was at the back of The King’s Arms shouting, ‘Gaun yersel!’ with the rest of the villagers!)
MG was just the tonic I need to cheer me up on a dreich day. Even so, I could have done without the ‘Love Lift Us Up Where We Belong’ earworm…
The Kinloch Series comes to a brilliant closing with Musical Games. This series is a must have. It goes from raw funny to crazy funny, then sweetly funny, and ends in silly funny. With gorgeous Scottish men in Kilts and lots of wild, sexy times!
It's the story of Jamie and Sam. Jamie is a shy, momma’s boy, stunning electrician who takes his gift for music as a hobby. He’s too comfortable with his simple life and suddenly he finds himself with a petite hurricane as a guest in his house. Sam comes to visit her best friend in Kinloch, planning to make Brad Bauer, the eccentric Hollywood actor, fall for her charms, so she can have bigger roles in the industry. She is a city girl, an actress on the rise, but when she meets Jamie and his musical abilities, trouble starts.
Sam is sweet with a big heart, but a riot, and instead of falling for Brad, she falls for Jamie, the awkward, shy and uncommunicative Scottish hunk who learnt how to be a sex god reading his sister’s romance novels. Their miscommunication is priceless and puts them in hot water all the time. Both characters fit perfectly together. As their relationship flows, the readers’ emotions go haywire. There is angst, tension to their antics, and you don’t know if you laugh your brains out or scream at them. Their sexy times are fun and messy and leave you gasping. Family interaction is a hardship for both of them, and to their surprise, they ended up finding out how wrong they were about a lot of things.
Together, they grow so much in the story! Jamie is pulled out of his comfort zone overnight. His struggle to adapt is tangible, but soon enough he realizes there’s more to life and he already missed a lot of opportunities. Sam understands the glamorous life she mapped out for herself may not be the right one. Both rediscover themselves and, with the supporting role of the secondary characters, their journey becomes just precious, sexy and hilarious.
The four books of the series are standalone, but you’ll have a great time getting to know the entire crowd, so here goes: Book one, Highland Games. Book 2, Hollywood Games and Book 3, Kissing Games! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
The Kinloch Series come to an end with Musical Games and what an ending! Following Sam an actress on a soap opera, needing more from life, and shy Jamie is 27 and never been kissed, so who better to bring him out of his shell, but crazy whirlwind Sam. Expect more of the same as the previous 3 books, men in kilts and lots and lots of steamy moments! Thank you Evie, I loved this book just as much as the previous ones I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Oh Jamie, so sweet and shy and confused. I have a thing for muscular Scottish men named Jamie (who doesn't), and I adored his character in Musical Games. Sam is so cute and fun, too, and I loved these two together. Another great addition to the Kinloch series.
First book of the year for me and oh my gosh- what a cracker!!!! 🔥 Jamie is the perfect book boyfriend. His musical talent, shyness and ahem- ‘bedroom expertise’ renders him an AMAZING character! And Sam. I just want to hug her. You don’t have to be an actress to experience rejection. I think every woman in the world can relate. Combined, the two provide a sweet and sexy love story filled with heat, heart and a soul satisfying happy ever after! Highly recommend.
This has been my favorite out of the series so far. I couldn’t put this one down. The setting was the same as the last two (at least in the beginning) but took on a much bigger life of it’s own. My favorite thing is to see growth in characters, and this had it in spades. I mean, they might have needed a not so gentle push to get there sometimes, but they got there eventually. That’s what counts, right? 😂
Sam is an actress on one of the soap operas, but it looking for a bigger break. When her best friend starts showing up on Brad freakin’ Bauer’s IG, her plans spur into action. She suddenly had a sick grandma and is on her way to Scotland to met Hollywood’s biggest star. But why is the quiet electrician childhood friend of Zoe’s the one that won’t leave her mind?
Jamie had a simple life. He works as an electrician, lives with his mom (who else will take care of her?), and plays guitar (but hates doing shows). When a tiny firecracker lights up his life (his friend Zoe’s BFF) his simple life is blown to smithereens. He can’t decide if it’s a good or a bad thing.
Another great Kinloch dual POV romance set in Scotland! I'm loving this series and this one might be my fav! It was a steamy, funny, celebrity actress slash singer who falls for a shy Scottish virgin who helps her write and perform songs and who falls just as hard for her. Great on audio narrated by the author herself with excellent chronic illness (Crohn's) disability rep. Recommended for fans of big-hearted spicy romcoms!
Sam is an actress at the end of her rope, she wants more for her career than a daytime soap. In an attempt to achieve her dreams, she takes a trip to Kinloch, Scotland where she meets shy, musically talented, Jamie. They decide to collaborate on an album set to fulfil Sam's dreams, but sparks fly along the way and new dreams are created together.
I really, really enjoyed this read. The characters had so much individual charm, the plot drew me in, the comedy was on point and who can say no to a romance that leaves you with butterflies? This book quite honestly had me giggling and kicking my feet at times, it was that charming. I don't often get that throat-tightening feeling that comes with romance so it was a true pleasure to experience it here. Not to mention these very real, and relatable, issues our main characters had with both their mental and physical health. To see both normalised in this book was actually quite touching for me and definitely enhanced the experience tenfold.
As far as I'm concerned, the first 50% of this book was 5 stars for me, an uncommon occurrence for sure. I truly loved everything that was happening. Sam openly expressing herself and becoming comfortable around these people, this new family. And just learning about everything that went through Jamie's head. His POV alone sold me on this, I found myself captivated the entire time. Watching their journey filled me with such happiness, it was a real joy to watch them interact and navigate around newfound feelings for one another.
Unfortunately, the latter half of this book was the reason for the 4 stars rather than 5. Don't get me wrong, it's still a good rating and I still enjoyed it thoroughly, but it felt as though it lost its spark a little bit. Things started getting a tad repetitive with silly miscommunications and scenes of intimacy that no longer had the same impact as the first time.
Besides these, however, I had a fantastic time and will be keeping an eye out for other works by this author.
I volunteered to review a free ARC of this book for BookSirens.
Can a book that essentially tells the exact same story as the previous three be really all as entertaining, funny, sexy, and dramatic as the first? The answer is YES!! Each of these books is told from a point of view of different characters and this has been done so very well by Evie Alexander, I can honestly say I can't wait to read all of them again.
Musical Games is from Sam and Jaime's perspective. And they truly are sunshine and grumpiness. Sam is a talented soap opera star but she wants more than just commercials and tv work so when her best friend mentions that Hollywood superstar Brad Bauer is shooting Braveheart 2, she heads to Kinloch to try to make her way. But she didn't count on shy, mama's boy Jaime stopping her in her tracks. Jaime is multi-talented in not just trades but in singing and music as well. He at first doesn't know what to make of boisterous Sam but he cannot deny his attraction to her. When they collaborate on some songs for the movie, emotions and feelings arise that neither can control.
As with the previous books, there are many scenes that are laugh-out-loud funny and the steamy scenes (although it is a slow burn work up to it) are off the charts! This story moved along at a fast pace and I wasn't bored even though I have read the previous books in this series. I wasn't always a fan of Sam from the previous books so it was nice to gain her perspective and get into her head because she is very much not what she appears to be. And Jaime is such a sweet guy, I think he might have just stolen the 'best book boyfriend' title away from Rory. Love the admission that he read his sister's romance novels for 'guidance'! Of course, there are miscommunications and misunderstandings, some of which got a bit repetitive and could have dragged the story down if not for my love of this series and of wanting to see if there really would be a happily ever after. Highly recommended, a must-read even if you haven't read the previous books of the series. I received an advanced copy and my review is completely voluntary.
Don’t let the cute little cover fool you! This book is packed with smoking hot scenes, sizzling chemistry, and Evie Alexander’s terrific sense of humor. I love how this series takes place around the same time and place, featuring characters that are somehow related, befriended or connected and pop up in references (or in person in certain scenes) - but still feel fresh and new each time. In Musical Games we get to know Sam and Jamie, who sing - as we say in Dutch - the stars out of the sky, moving people to tears, and launching themselves a serious record deal!
Sam and Jamie were both lovely characters, especially Sam who felt out of place in life, being too much, too intense, too misfit, was really relatable. Why Jamie held back when he obviously instantly fell for the wonderful and dazzling Sam, I couldn’t really understand. I thought that made no sense at all :) Luckily he stopped defying the inevitable and turned on his sex god mode for our heroine.
I really liked that Sam and Jamie were singing together, and I wished I could hear The Heart of Scotland as the author intended it to sound like. In my head it’s both an intimate and a cinematic, full orchestra Academy Awards worthy song, so I could totally imagine it climbing the charts and being played over and over again on the radio :) Let’s start a petition for that!
Last but not least: I received an ARC for free and leave this review voluntarily. This series is really worth the read!
What a book to finish the Kinloch Series with. This can be read stand-alone, but I would recommend reading the others first to get the best from it.
Actress Sam comes to visit her friend Zoe in Scotland and hopes to meet Brad, charm him and go back to Hollywood with him. Jamie is a quiet, grumpy electrician who still lives at home and hides himself in his music. When Sam stays at his house, he is not expecting his world to turn upside down.
On meeting Brad, Sam commits them to supplying an album of music for a new film. As they work together, both start developing feelings but cannot communicate with one another. They are both wonderful characters, Jamie so sweet and Sam with her fiesty streak. They both have isuues in their past to address and you can't help but hope it works out for them, especially when their lives are so different.
Another fantastic, funny, slow burn, steamy rom-com written in Evie's wonderful style.
Musical Games by Evie Alexander is a good, and enjoyable sweet steamy opposites attract romantic comedy read. The story has a good story line. The characters are good, and they have good chemistry. This is Jamie and Sam's story. Sam is some one that is Bubbly, actress, career and future-focused. Jamie is some one that sweet, broody, and sensitive songwriter with a guitar. This story is sweet funny romance read.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I had the opportunity to review the ARC for Musical Games ahead of it’s launch thanks to Evie! While this book is part of a series, it can also be read as a standalone like I did.
This ones a Rom-com, mainly based in Scotland. The MMC is shy and awkward, inexperienced with relationships while the FMC is a bold, bright actress from London. Brought together by music, a classic forced proximity setting leads the two to fall in love and their journey is so beautifully captured. While the tempo dropped at times, the fun and spicy moments made up for it. I will definitely go back to read the other books from this series.
I received an advance review copy for free from BookSirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is the fourth instalment to the Kinloch series written by Evie Alexander and it could be read as a standalone. Although, to get an even better experience, it is always a plus to read them.
Sam is an actress who wants more than what she has currently. So she seizes an opportunity by going to Scotland to meet with the man who could change everything for her. Jamie, on the other hand, is a shy electrician who also happens to know how to sing and play the guitar.
Both Sam and Jamie have their insecurities. They bring out the best in each other as they work together on music for the soundtrack of an upcoming movie.
Do I recommend it? Yes! If you are looking for hot and steamy romance, this is the book for you. The chemistry between Sam and Jamie is amazing.
Musical Games is the first book I have read in The Kinloch Series and now I need to go back and read the rest! I loved Sam and Jamie! Who wouldn’t love an inexperienced, romance reading hero! This slow burn is well worth the wait.

Sam heads to Kinloch Castle in Scotland when she learns a Hollywood blockbuster is being filmed there and she really wants to work on it. When it comes out that Sam is actually a musician, she has to convince electrician Jamie to help her with the soundtrack so she can keep the job.
Jamie is reserved and shy compared to Sam’s more outgoing nature, but the two immediately connect over the music. Unfortunately, both Sam and Jamie believe the other doesn’t like them for anything but their musical connection.
Will these two manage to build their connection and get their HEA or will they burn out? Evie Alexander has crafted another beautiful story in the Kinloch series and I really enjoyed reading it.

As a fan of this series, I happily accepted a free ARC of this book, having enjoyed the ones before. I do believe that this might just be my favorite one.
The timeline of this one compliments the first two in the series. It can be read after Highland Games (Rory and Zoe) if you choose - or in chronological release date order, like I did, and like I recommend.
I really enjoyed Jamie! He is just so sweet, and shy! Sam is very likeable, but her energy was a bit overwhelming for him. She also has some major issues that impact her life, and watching these two characters interact was both entertaining and frustrating. It was easy to become attached to their world. Their chemistry and connection was sweet and steamy, and their HEA is perfect for them!
I thank this author for her creativity, and for giving me characters that stay with me long after the pages have stopped turning. ❤

Evie Alexander mixes together perfect opposites: insta-love/slow-burn, grumpy/sunshine, reticent/outgoing into an opposites attract rom-com that hits all the right notes.
If you've been waiting for Sam and Jaime's story, it's finally here! You could probably read Musical Games as a stand-alone, but to get the full effect I'd recommend starting at the beginning of the Kinloch series—you won't be disappointed!—with Highland Games.
Insanely steamy, laugh-out-loud hilarious—there's nothing quite as bonkers as movie star Brad's brand of eccentric—and packs emotional punches I wasn't expecting.
The Kinloch series is a must-read for the top of your TBR list.
crazy but I love it I just love how this author always finds the right balance between making me laugh out loud about the protagonists´crazy and making me melt because of the unstoppable love between them – Sam and Jamie are another example of opposites attract, love won´t be denied and nothing is impossible with the support of friends and family. I received this book as a review copy.
Another amazing story from the Kinloch Series!! And I thought it couldn’t get better than Kissing Games! Well, I was totally wrong!!! 🤷🏼♀️ The story was an emotional and wonderful journey leading to a profound logic, that believing in one’s self and taking chances will lead to the best gift of all….

I would like to preface this review by stating I received an advance reader copy for an honest review. Oh my, I just loved another glimpse of the world of Kinloch. This was such a beautiful story. As a person who lives in a household with people who suffer from severe anxiety, how Sam and Jamie's stories were told rang so true. I could feel their pain and their panic. Along with that, you could feel all of the love as well. In addition, it was steamy as well as sweet, which made it even better. All in all, it was a fabulous story, one I will definitely re-read and I look forward to more from the world of Kinloch.
OMG just when you think it can’t get any better it does! Evie Alexander has done it again with Sam and Jamie’s love story! I absolutely devoured each word, Line and sentence! A true opposite attracts love story that are like a pair of gloves fitting together perfectly. Oh my gosh my heart was in my throat at times but I laughed and smiled at all the really swooshy melty moments and smiled so big at the end! Fabulous!
