A man who was born to protect. A woman running from danger. An unknown enemy who refuses to quit.
Former Navy SEAL Ivan Petrov is accustomed to a life of adrenaline and secrecy. No longer under Uncle Sam’s thumb, he now works for Jax Monroe—Denver's most renowned nightclub owner and private investigator, Jax Monroe. But when Jax and his new wife depart for their honeymoon, Ivan is left in charge of the club, plunging him into a situation he never expected.
Cera Davidson is on the run from a deranged stalker. Desperately seeking a safe haven, she goes in search of the owner of Sin, the city's hottest nightclub. But the face she meets isn’t the one she expects. With her choices—and time—running out, Cera reluctantly agrees to place her life in Ivan’s hands. A decision that will forever change the course of both their futures.
Brought together by fate, these two strangers soon become so much more. However, just when they believe they have eluded the clutches of danger, disaster strikes with deadly consequences, threatening not only their lives but also the lives of everyone in Denver.
***MARKED FOR DISASTER is Book 6 in Anna’s Marked Series and will contain a full, compete story with a Happy Ever After and no cliffhangers.
Author of the exciting R.I.S.C. Series, Anna Blakely brings you stories of love, action, and edge of your seat suspense. As an avid reader herself, Anna writes what she loves...strong, Alpha heroes and the intelligent, independent heroines they love.
Anna's dream is to create stories her readers will enjoy, and characters they'll fall in love with as much as she has. She believes in true love and Happily Ever After, which is what she will bring to you.
Anna lives in rural Missouri with her husband and children, as well as several rescued animals. When she's not writing, Anna enjoys reading, watching action and horror movies (the scarier the better), and spending time with her amazing family.
The beginning was really good, (Really depressing though.) then it sadly went rapidly downhill.
I think this has to be the most depressing book I’ve ever read. Cera suffers a great deal at the beginning, and to be honest I wish it wasn’t written about. It really made me cry and I found it really depressing. Then as she starts to get on with her life, she gets a stalker. A stalker who nobody believes in so she goes to Jax for help. Jax is on honeymoon so Ivan steps up to help her. Ivan had something awful happen to him too in his past, so he’s a depressing character as well….. Oh good grief..
As Cera and Ivan become closer, her stalker isn’t happy. A quick note about her stalker. It’s really obvious who it is, it doesn’t make sense why they are stalking her, and it doesn’t make sense how they plant bombs under cars!!! In fact the whole stalker plot DOES’NT MAKE SENSE!!!
I can’t explain how silly this book was in places. Ivan and Cera have whole conversations with themselves in their heads. Ivan even does it just before they have sex. 😱 While we’re talking about sex, the sex scene is truly awful. Cera jumps on Ivan and he asks her if she’s okay with doing it. Then they’re naked and she’s begging him to do it and he asks her if she’s sure!!??? 😂😂 Then he goes into his head and starts having a conversation with himself before they do it. Then he asks her again if she’s sure, and tells her she doesn’t need to beg….. SHE OBVIOUSLY DOES NEED TO BEG!!!
Then finally there’s the ending, if you can call it that. I turned the page and the epilogue is the next flaming book.
The author says she struggled with Ivan’s book and I can see that. Sorry to say but it wasn’t good.
Drawn in from the first pages, it was hard to put this story down as it catapulted into intriguing mysteries to solve with tons of danger, action, and gripping suspense. Ivan is drawn to Cera despite his attempts to ignore the pull, and when he discovers just how much danger stalks her, his protector heart will stop at nothing to end the threats. Luckily, Cera has found a safe place to place her battered heart and soul in Ivan's hands and a warrior to defend her. If you love fast-paced, suspense filled love stories that keep you engaged this one is for you.
"I feel like I've been ready for you my whole life. I just needed to find you first." Ivan Petrov has been one of my favorite supporting characters in the Marked series. Ever since Jax's secretive partner was introduced I have been waiting for his story and it's a good one! Cera Davidson is a woman with problems. Not only does she have a tragic past that no one should have had but now here she is over a decade later and she has a stalker after her. She has gone to the authorities, relocated and still no one can seem to find out who is after her or why. At her wit's end, Cera goes to look for Jax Monroe at his club Sin. His P.I. skills are legendary around Denver but when she arrives it's Ivan that is in charge while Jax is off on his honeymoon. Ivan isn't quite sure what to believe about this beautiful woman's story but he takes her back to her motel and finding that her room has been destroyed, now that gets his attention. Ivan and Cera each have a lot of layers and in working together to find her stalker they both realize that maybe they could be much more to each other if the fates allow. Marked for Disaster was told from dual POV, has action, angst, twists and some heat. It stands alone within the series but I do recommend reading those stories as well. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
"Maybe you let someone else help carry the burden for a change"
Cera destroyed me, the terror she has suffered as her stalker systematically tore apart her life, shredding any safety or security she found, yet leaving no evidence for her to take to the police. This would crush anyone, but pile it on top of the haunting loss and abandonment she suffered as a teen - I am amazed she is still a functioning human and not a jibbering wreck. Thankfully Ivan sees the terror, but he also sees the strength and the steely determination she is fighting to keep and this pulls him from the shadows of his own demons. Together they realise that feeling fear, guilt and remorse is ok, but instead of letting it destroy you, you need to use it to fuel your determination and to grab your future with both hands as nobody knows what tomorrow brings....
Or who is going to betray you in the cruelest way possible.
Whilst Cera's journey is haunting, we really get to see the real Ivan here, he is not in Jax's shadow, he shows his strengths, his weaknesses and his fears. But he also shows his love....and his trust. One of the best of the series, I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
Cera Davidson’s certain she’s being stalked. Police in three cities are unable to help and DPD finally refers her to Jax Malone. At Jax’ club, Sin, former SEAL, Ivan Petrov quickly tells her Jax is unavailable for two weeks. Feeling guilty for not trying to help the desperate beauty Ivan follows Cera to a run-down motel. Seeing Cera cautiously enter and rush out of her room, Ivan hurries to correct his behavior.
Frightened, Cera tells Ivan and the police about her stalker but Ivan’s certain she’s omitting something, so he investigates. It doesn’t take long for Ivan to learn Cera barely escaped being murdered with her family by her ex-stepfather who’s stalked them for two years. As Cera and Ivan return from lunch, mere feet from the bar’s door, the building explodes!
With all doubt Ivan may have had that Cera’s stalker being imaginary removed and his vow to find hm/her stalker, the couple iss free to follow their mutual attraction. Before a plan can be devised to locate and trap Cera’s stalker, he tries to kidnap her when Ivan’s back is turned. Rating: 3.25stars
Ivan and Cera meet when she comes to the nightclub/P.I. office he works for needing help. After hearing that Ivan's boss Jax isn't available, she gets back in her car and drives away. Little does she know, he follows her to the motel she is staying. He witnesses her running out of her room and he rushed to her. After hearing what she's been up against for the past few months, he is determined to help her. Ivan checks out everything she has told him about events that have transpired and discovered they have more in common than he ever thought. Feelings develop between them at warp speed. They have a lot of obstacles standing between them and their HEA. Can Ivan figure out who's determined to keep them apart in time to save Cera? Get this book ASAP and find out. Sorry, no spoilers.
Oh my gosh! Cera broke my heart😭 all that pain and guilt then trying to rebuild some sort of life only to end up with a stalker set on ruining everything. She was strong, still fighting to survive and get help even when everyone seemed to think it was all in her mind. Ivan, thank goodness for instant chemistry and a curious mind. Action packed fast paced story with a few twists and suspense, loved the characters and that finally someone listened and took her seriously. This was emotional at times, certainly tear jerking. Kept my focus and interest throughout and I honestly loved these two. Excellent plot with some steam, lots of determination and a fast instant love that proved deep. Another fantastic story by Anna, she keeps me on the edge of my seat one minute and sobbing the next.
The book was okay. I don't understand why the bomb was set on the car or how the bad guy even had the expertise to build a bomb. The bomb would have killed Cera, yet the bad guy said he did not want to hurt her. That really does not make any sense. How did the police detective know the hotel the bad guy was staying at? I don't think that was ever explained. I reread several parts trying to figure that out.
I am not into instalove. That seemed to happen in only a day.
I do not like that the book had a cliffhanger. I have no idea who the characters in the cliffhanger are as I have not read all of the books in the series. Authors, please, cliffhangers are not needed. Your writing determines if the next book in the series is read.
Ivan and Cera. Both have heartbreaking losses and strong characters determined to overcome hardships. Ivan is in charge while Jax is on his honeymoon and Cera is on the run looking for help. The danger comes fast and furious with her stalker destroying her home, exploding Ivan’s car, and then abducting her from the secure location. The relationship between them is full of chemistry, but also emotion as they both open up about previous losses and fears. The stalker was an obvious choice/character, but I was surprised on the why. The ending was unique in how Cera was saved, but it’s impact on her health. Olly and Izzy set the stage for the next book and I am excited because those last few sentences were tricky!
This book has all the feels you want alpha male, independent strong female survivor, sinister stalker and a fabulous ending. Anna Blakely has a way with a storyline and character development. The H/h are truly charismatic and likeable and you will be rooting for them. Secondary characters have a tremendous part in making this book so readable. This is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. I truly read it in one sitting and couldn't put it down. As the story continues it has more twists and turns to a remarkable ending. Don't miss this one.
Wow this was great! Thoroughly enjoyed it! When Cera is on the run from a deranged stalker, she needs help and gets it from Ivan an ex seal. Such great action and suspense in this book. It was a fast paced read that seemed to speed up and slow momentarily before taking off again. The chemistry between Cera and Ivan really took off as well. Don't they say when you give up looking, you usually find love. Well Ivan found it. Well written, I truly enjoyed the pace and the dialogue in this book. The story line was well done and the characters were fantastic. Great work, I highly recommend this book!!
Another great addition, Marked for Disaster has to be one of my top favs of the Marked Series! With tons of page turning romance, mystery and suspense, action and even some humor, what's not to love? Focusing on retied Seal Ivan and MFC Cera, fate brings these two together. Through an unfortunate situation involving a stalker, Ivan will need to keep a clear head to keep Cera safe. That is easier said than done when the chemistry between the two becomes a happy distraction. All in all, Marked for Disaster was a great addition to this series and I always look forward to what is next by this author!
I have been reading this series and have enjoyed it immensely. It is a good romance mystery and a quick read. Ivan Petrov is introduced to us in (Marked #4). He works for Jax Monroe, his ex-SEAL leader who is also a PI. He has a lot of tragedy in his life that he is not willing to share with anyone. He meets Cera Davidson when she comes knocking at Sin, Jax’s establishment, looking for the PI. She has a stalker that she has been running from and is losing time before she is found. Ivan takes one look and knows she is the one he has been waiting for. We find out each one’s tragedy with a little steam and an unsuspecting surprise.
## This was my least favorite of the series. First of all, the prologue was way too long. I get that a story needs to be set up (it was a childhood flashback), but I was already bored by the time Chapter one rolled around. Second, the heroine's stalker was so obvious that I found it impossible to believe she (nor the cops) couldn't figure it out. Then, once she meets Ivan, she's immediately in love. Same with him, although there was no chemistry between them. The whole thing felt forced. And where was the suspense? Even the epilogue wasn't good. The couple wasn't even mentioned. It was a set up for the next book. Sorry, I can't recommend this one.
"Marked for Disaster" by Anna Blakely is a gripping romance that unites Ivan Petrov, a former Navy SEAL, with Cera Davidson, a woman on the run from a dangerous stalker. Their unexpected connection takes them on a passionate journey. However, just as their love deepens, disaster strikes, putting their newfound happiness at risk.
Anna Blakely skillfully blends suspense and romance in this captivating story, creating characters you can't help but root for. "Marked for Disaster" is a rollercoaster of emotions, offering readers a tale of love. It's a must-read for those who enjoy thrilling and heartfelt romances. You won't be able to put it down.
I have yet to read an Anna Blakely book that I have not loved and that trend continues with Marked for Disaster. However, out of all of her books, this one is my absolute favorite! The story flows so well and the characters are so deep. I also appreciate the author being honest and open with the struggles that the characters go through and not just skimming over the heartache. That is truly what makes this book such an amazing one. And of course, that epilogue that sets up the next book is killer! What a great book and series!
Read it in one day, could not wait to get back to it during my work day. Devoured it when I could. Ivan and Cera, both with very tragic pasts and yet somehow they connected. An intense but "adorable" read for sure. I've been an avid read of Ms. Blakely since her first book and I've never been disappointed, they always take me away. You get romance, you get suspense, you get an alpha, you get a gutsy heroine and you get a great escape when you read a Blakely book.
Ivan Petrov's boss, Jax Monroe, admonished him that his turn at love was coming and he wouldn't be at all forewarned. Damn if he wasn't right. The minute Cera Davison banged on the front door of Sin, she'd captured his heart. She was tired, terrified and on the run from a stalker. The more he finds out about her, the more they have in common and the more he wants to know. In less than a week they're imprinted themselves on the other's heart and soul. Ms. Blakely throws in a twist that will surprise you. Never fear though, there's an HEA for Cera and Ivan.
Wow! Another FANTASTIC story by Anna! I went through this book kind of fast as it was truly intriguing, heartbreaking and intense! This story is about Cera and Ivan. Cera's story is definitely heartbreaking right from the beginning. Ivan's story isn't as intense as Cera's but still these two meet and find they have a lot in common. The bad guy was a total surprise! I always love happy endings even if it takes an almost near tragedy to get there. FANTASTIC job Anna! I would highly recommend this book!
Cera had her whole life ripped out from under her as a teenager in a tragic event, meeting Ivan the sexy investigator, instant chemistry between them wanted or not, can he believe what she's telling him, as bizarre as it sounds he does, can they find the ghost who is hunting her, will they give into their desires, high energy, thrilling ride, unexpected twist, and insta love, amazeballs this story was, thank you, Dana Zamora
I’ve been anxiously waiting to see who would snare Ivan’s interest. Jax’s right hand man had to have a great story, right? Not only the story of his finding his other half, but his background and what brought him to be where he is. Cera has been living a nightmare for the last 13 months. Well, a lot longer than that actually, but this time with a stalker. She’s at her wits end when she meets Ivan. Now they just need to get to the bottom of all this before her stalker make them too late.
I initially thought that the author might have forgone editing and proofreading on this book…but alas, she did not. I won’t name the “editor” and “proofreader,” but let’s just say that Ms. Blakely deserves her money back. And, it’s Jimi Hendrix, not Jimmy.
This book was so cheesy, it’s making me rethink reading another Anna Blakely book…and she was one of my favorites. Poorly done all the way around.
I love Anna’s books and this one was sooo good but I was a tiny bit disappointed when I came across quite a few typos like ”…calls with Detective King and the F.B.I1, and Cera… There were some very obvious typos. I’m retired now but a big part of my job was word processing so I really notice typos. Never came across this many in her other books 🤷🏻♀️ Still an awesome book!
I've really enjoyed the books.in this series. That being said, this one with Ivan and Cera, and my other fav with Jax and Poppy. These two stand out. Probably because it's two men in the fringe. But their stories were perfect for each Ivan and Ceras' stories. Gutting and emotional. Thr detail for Cera and her sister just...yep...I've not cried reading any of Blakelys book, but for this one. Well done.
Excellent book absolutely awesome, loved reading this book. Suspense emotion and intrigue with great characters a powerful story. Ivan and Vera a heart breaking backgrounds found each other. I recommend to everyone to read this book and series it's unmissable. Thanks
I'm so happy Ivan now has his story, he has been a brooding and mainly silent character in the background of the Marked series, you just knew he was going to be an absolute keeper! He is right up there with Jax as a favourite in this series. Cera has suffered utter heartbreak, she survived and has painfully rebuilt something of a life for herself except now she has a stalker threatening to destroy everything. She struggles to find anyone to believe the stalker is real and not a creation of her mind because what happened to her in the past. Broke and running out of ideas she arrives at Sin seeking help from P.I. Jax Monroe only to find the silent, secretive former Seal Ivan in his stead. Two strong characters both haunted by past tragedy brought together by fate, their lives are about to change forever. Drawn together by an connection that only grows deeper. I love Ivan and Cera, their story is one of the best in the series, action, intrigue and twists and turns, told from a dual POV that works so well and Ivan's inner monologue works for me. A definite winner for me.
This was the first book, in this series, that I have read. Wow! Where do I find me an Ivan? This story pulled me in right from the start. It was a one sitting, don't put the book down wild ride. I absolutely fell in love with both Ivan and Cera. Now I am off to download the other books in the series.
Excellent storytelling. Cera went through an unthinkable tragedy and came out strong, but someone wants to tear her down. Ivan decides to help her even when others won't or can't and soon they embark on a journey full of page turning action and self discovery bonding. The jaw dropping twist will send you reeling. I received this ARC and voluntarily give my review.
Hero and helper turned stalker. What a mess. However this massive bump in the road lead her into the arms of a man that needed her help as much as she needed him. Then someone tried to take her. On no that was not happening. He opened his heart and soul. There would be living through that again. And another one bites the dust. As always keep writing and I will keep reading.
The formula is getting kind of old. But Cera and Ivan work well as a couple. The instalove here feels awkward. Ivan feels out Cera when she is desperate for his help and begins a journey with her that leads to their HEA. I don’t think figuring out who the stalker is was difficult.
