This book was stupid.
I loved it.
This is an insta love between a human and a shark alien after he watches her publicly "please herself" on a bus after being given a horny shot by another alien so she can work as a "dancer." Everyone goes with the flow way too easily. "Oh I'm an alien stripper now? Okay."
This book is so bad it's good. Like unrefrigerated orange chicken and rice from the family owned Asian restaurant that you left out overnight and ate for breakfast the next morning. I would 1000% read this author again.

i think i love primitive/barbarian culture type of alien books more because politics in this book? i don't need it. i wanted to read something funny and interesting not about a monarchy and their rebellious son 😐

This book is just whiplash in book form. How the author constructed a story in which intense acts of violence, murder, and attempted murder are placed mere paragraphs away from egregiously horny sex scenes and think that this plot runs smoothly is beyond me.

There’s no breathing room, no real worldbuilding, and had one of the laziest uses of the fated mates trope. Throwing a mate bond in there doesn’t mean you can avoid writing the important stuff that builds up a romance like chemistry, growth, or any meaningful development or connection.

When Opal and Ke’ain aren’t outrunning death, they’re humping like rabbits and you want me to think they’re in love? That they even like each other all that much as people ???

Also genocide is such an ick for me. Sorry!!!!!

It’s just something I can’t get behind rooting for. What do you mean the “hero” in this story is also the one determined to eradicate an entire species 😀😃!? HUH ??

The Beyoncé part was funny and that’s the only thing this book had going for it. This wasn’t even a “so bad it’s funny/good” experience like I just walked away from this story confused and agitated.

Not fun in the slightest.

This book was such a fun read! Sometimes you’re just in the mood for smut with little plot and that’s exactly what this book did! There’s just enough substance for the spicy scenes to make sense and I loved it. The perfect amount of plot, balanced like a Reese’s egg. A great pallet cleanser. Easy to follow world building. Characters that will have you swooning. This book will have you eating sushi in hopes you too will be abducted by aliens. You’ll laugh, you’ll feel spicy, you might even cry! Idk, but what I do know is you should not pass on this book. If you liked IPB? This book is for you! If you had fantasies about shark boy…this book might also be for you! But you won’t know if you don’t give it a try! (Warning: reading this book may suck you down into the rabbit hole that is alien/monster romance, you may question your own morals. You are not alone. Don’t let this discourage you from diving in to Sontafrul 6) but on a serious note this book is erotic, if you don’t like that, you probably won’t like this (but you might!). Check the content warnings. And don’t be surprised when this shark-like alien has you soaked out of water 😉

This was my first Alien smutty book and it did not disappoint!
The FMC Opal is freaking hilarious and I loved her personality. Also the way she wasn’t scared to take what she wanted from him when he may or may not have been tied up😏….

I really like how Ke’ain protected Opal from the very beginning and their bond was so strong from the very first time she pleasured herself in front of him.. I mean first time they made eye contact…..

This book was soo spicy but also had so much good plot to the point I was crying crying in the club (club being my house) at 2 in the morning!!

Petra did so amazing and I can’t wait to see what is to come from her!

Basic plot:
Opal is kidnapped and forced to dance for aliens entertainment when a traffic jam encounter changes her course in the best way.

My thoughts:
Yay for titled chapters! I seriously love those….

This book really caught my attention! The title, of course, is fun, but as I started listening I just found myself thinking it was so delightful! But also ridiculous. And unexpected in the best way. And a bit absurd? And so fucking sweet…

I just couldn’t predict this one and that was nice after reading so many kidnapped heroine you are now my mate alien romances. The steam was fun! The plot kind of crazy. It had a few things I maybe didn’t love, but overall it was so readable I just did not care. I will absolutely be reading more from this series!

Overall: How I felt about it everything considered!
Readability: How ‘readable’ was the book? Did I fly through it? Did I have to tell myself to pick it back up repeatedly? Were any passages confusing? (I will probably score like (1) is literally unreadable due to formatting/typing errors, etc (2) There were lots of errors that made it difficult to read OR It was extremely confusing and I had to reread passages to make sense of it OR I disliked it so much I had to bribe myself to keep reading (3) I didn’t really want to keep reading and would have preferred to abandon the read and start something else OR some minor continuity issues/confusion (4) I liked it fine, maybe a minor error or 2. I was happy to pick it up when I had time. (5) I never wanted to put this down. I thought about it when I wasn’t reading it. I hid in the bathroom from my kids to read. I threw inappropriate food at my children for dinner so I could read instead.)
Feels: Totally subjective to each person but did the book give me any tingles? Any butterflies? Did it rip my heart out (in a good way?)
Emotional depth: How well do I feel I know the characters at the end? How much did I feel their emotions throughout the story?
Sexual tension: Again, subjective, but how strong was the wanting and longing to me between the characters? A book might have strong sexual tension without a single touch.
Romance: Was there romance? Did romantic things happen? This can be actions/words/thoughts of the characters and again is subjective.
Sensuality: This is how the intimate scenes are written. Kisses and sexual scenes – how sensual were they? Were they on the mechanical side? Was there emotional pull tied in? Were the details explicit or flowery? These are subjective but generally (1) too short to get a good judgment (2) not all what I'm looking for - very vague or flowery prose (3) either not explicit enough or not enough emotional pull (too mechanical/physically descriptive without the emotions) (4) what I love in a scene (5) absolute perfection - perfect balance of emotional longing and explicit descriptions
Sex Scene Length: How long the bedroom scenes are (generally (1) is 1-3 sentences (2) is a few paragraphs to a page-ish (3) is about average, a few pages (4) more well developed scenes, quite a few pages with descriptions (4) the majority of the book takes place in the bedroom. This is always hard to tell for me on audio!
Steam Scale: Generally, each flame is a scene. If scenes are super close together I sometimes combine them. If a scene is super short or so vague I don’t know what’s happening, I don’t count it. There’s some levels of grey but generally the number of flames is how many sex scenes there are (I max out at 5 so I’ll put a + after if there’s more than that)

I called it quits at 72%

This wasn’t for me in any shape, way, or form. This was past Insta love. I just can’t with the main character. We meet people who are okay with being abducted, go along with the flow, and the biggest idiot who is suppose to be king. It’s cool that he thinks she signed up for this but then when he finds out she was abducted it was like eh oh well until they are attacked by the same abductor species then we have a problem. It didn’t get better. The problems aren’t really dealt with. It’s rushed through and the fmc is just like eh whatever, I am a Ho and sleep around and you are cool about it well then I definitely have to stay???? I get it’s fantasy but it can’t be so fantastical that the characters aren’t even believable as a human being.

I won’t be reading book two.

All I Wanted Was Sushi but Instead I Got Abducted by Aliens is the first book in the brand new Bubble Babes series by Petra Palerno. It tells the story of Opal, a human woman who gets abducted by aliens while eating sushi on her lunch break in the car, and Ke’ain, the hunky alien prince who saves her from being trafficked by the alien entertainment industry.

Also Petra notes at the beginning of this book, this story was created for smut, smut, and more smut. Oh, and there’s a little plot sprinkled on top too, BUT DID I MENTION THE SMUT? This is not your mother’s fade to black bull crap, either! For the size of Ke’ain’s monstrous member to the clit-stimulating sucker just above said monstrous member, Ke’ain wastes no time in putting his assets to use showing Opal why they would make a good match. Of course, there are those who don’t want to see a human on the throne of this planet, and that, of course, is where the plot comes in.

This book obviously is not realistic in any way, but suspend your disbelief and this is an incredibly fun, fast-paced, and highly enjoyable read. There were some moments where I questioned some things, like why Ke’ain’s high-tech translator would be able to translate English, but not Japanese, but nothing too bad. My ARC had some formatting errors, and there were some typos that Petra and her editors missed, but none of this detracted from my enjoyment at all.

Listen, this is my book, I wrote it. I just need to tell you it's full-blown smut between a plus-sized MC and a big ole himbo alien.

There are jokes, and honestly, on my last reread, I forgot I wrote them and laughed at my own jokes. I'll admit it. I'm that lame.

I tried to add just enough plot to get to more spice, and there's lots of cursing and some slight blasphemy.

You'll either love it or hate it.

Overall, this is pretty cute, goofy, adventurous, and spicy.

Unfortunately Ice Planet Barbarians may have ruined other alien romances for me 😭 it was ok, but I had higher expectations going into the story. I didn’t enjoy the world and the characters nearly as much as IPB.

Maybe it was also a case of right book, wrong time.

It wasn’t bad though. I don’t necessarily have complaints.

I still would probably recommend it to another person, it just wouldn’t be a top, go-to book recommendation.

I’m going to try the others though because maybe I’ll enjoy the other main characters and their love stories a bit more.

What a wonderfully fun alien romance! So much humour, banter and utterly ridiculous plot points. Human woman ends up kidnapped, on a beachy alien planet with shark-alien people? Falls instantly in lust love with the Prince of the whole planet? Fated Mates? Assassination attempts? Minimal plot, a lot of comedy, and add a little big bit of spice? Sign me up, I'm in love.

This got me out of my reading funk, so thank you miss Petra Palerno, this was awesome.

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes.

Um, I freaking loved it! What's not to love about a huge gorgeous alien shark man who simps super hard for his tiny human mate wife person? My only complaint was I want the book to be 3 times as long. Keep going! Tell me all about the weird alien world and super cool sex positive marriage ceremonies and underwater palaces and whatever. I want it all. I love love loved it. Thank gods human men don't have a sucker because we wouldn't get shit done otherwise. I can't pick a favorite scene, but orgasming during a shuttle takeoff and being rooted in place for the duration seems like a good way to go if I had to choose one. Death by sexy rocket blast and alien peens. 10/10 would die again.

This was a really enjoyable read and that's saying something because the plot is a just a bunch on nonsense tossed into a blender. Why did they need to suddenly lose their memories (but only for one chapter)?

If it's a secret that humans are trafficked, why sell one to the prince? Oh, probably because when he finds out that their entire societal structure is a lie he says "omg that's such a bummer, anyway here's a dress I got you" and she's like "I know, right? let's just have sex".

I narrow my eyes and look at her suspiciously as images of aquatic gilled creatures fill my mind, gills like mine. I say nothing, but decide to keep an eye on how hard she bites me in the future. But as I think of her rosebud lips, I decide maybe I wouldn’t miss a bite or two if it would make her happy.”

This book was hilarious! The FMC Opal was feisty and I loved every minute of it! Our Prince was a sweetie from the very beginning! This was a super light read and gave IPB vibes.

Not good, pretty boring, they fall in love “at first sight” and mutually masterbate. A pretty classic alien/human smut story, even following the same basic plot lines as Ice Planet Barbarians (minus the language barrier)

But am I going to read the second one in the series? Yes.
