Even witches need a vacation.

Everything that could go wrong in Layla’s life has. There’s a murderous werewolf cult, Mr. White is plotting to destroy the world and worst of all—her mother keeps showing up. Her boys aren’t doing much better. Ink’s questioning his place in Layla’s life. Daniel is growing stronger and losing himself in the process. Cal is fighting against the newest addition no matter how hard he tries to make nice. They deserve a break at a private cabin on a lake.

Okay, so they’ll have to put in some labor to help bring the resort up to snuff for the summer season, but a free vacation is still an escape. There’ll still be nights lying under the stars on Cal’s chest, licking s’mores off Ink’s abs by a bonfire, being serenaded by Daniel on a boat ride and snuggling beneath Garavel’s wings. Evil, however, doesn’t take a break.

All the past demons come home to roost as the coven face not only what they were running from, but a lake monster who may not be so mythical after all. In this steamy and heart-racing entry to Coven of Desire, Layla fights to protect her men from demons both without and within.

Okay friends, remember what I said about Mr White last time around? I TAKE THAT BACK. I didn't see that coming, but I should've so now I'm pretending I never said that. YOU SAW NOTHING.

So, this time Layla and the Coven are on their way to a cute little cabin that absolutely does not have a lake monster near by. The absolutely not lake monster is so adorable, I hope we'll see more of him.

With every book I keep falling in love with the characters more and more, I don't know what Ellen Mint puts in these but KEEP 'EM COMING.

Each Coven member is dealing with their own issues, but I think Ink's are my favourite. Because he's on the road to falling in love with Layla (he's already in love, but won't admit it), and he doesn't know how to process it. He's also doubting his place in the Coven.

DON'T WORRY INK, LAYLA WILL NEVER GET RID OF YOU!!! And even if she does I'll make her take you back.

By the way, the steamy scene between them at the beach is high up there with my favourite steamy scenes EVER, if not THE favourite. It was so good, and sweet and Ink's thoughts during that moment...yeah it's my fav.

We got PoVs from the whole Coven AND, a secret cameo at the end. I've been waiting for this character to pop up again and now I'm pretty sure they'll be back in full swing in the next book.

There was also a little surprise linked to one of Layla's friends, I loved that too.

Sooooo I can't wait for the next one, Ellen Mint please release it like yesterday thank you.

Same Drama, Different Day.

Murderous werewolf cult, Mr. White aka Conquest plotting to destroy the world, and biggest kicker of all the mother you believed to be d3ad for 15 years have resurfaced not to mention your guys aren't getting along.

Layla literally has her hands full. In addition to all of the end of the world drama, her men are struggling with their role in her life. After experiencing mortally in an effort to save Layla's life, Ink is still suffering aftereffects which involves feelings a demon shouldn't possess. Daniel is growing stronger and losing himself at the same time, constantly wondering what good is having a ghost around, Garavel is still struggling with the trauma of destroying his creator not to mention wanting to destroy Cal every chance he gets and poor Cal the glue that's trying to keep everyone together for Layla's sake.

After accepting the task of helping to clean up a cabin resort in time for summer, Layla and the guys use this opportunity to get away from everything and relax but things never go as planned.

Dealing with their own personal demons, coming face to face with a monster who hides in the shadows near the lake, trying to thwart Conquest"s plans as well as face off the Witch Hunters on their trail this vacation leaves little to be desired.

There is no rest for the weary as Layla fights to protect her men from the demons outside and within. Unfortunately, Layla and the guys are no closer to defeating Mr. White than they were when they first started this journey.

Time to hear up for battle because the Apocalypse is near.

WOWZA! There’s a lot of craziness with magic and demons. I enjoyed the flow and had plenty to laugh and smile about. Another must read by Ellen Mint. I can’t wait to read more! *I was given a copy via StoryOrgin and am voluntarily giving my honest review.

Wow! This series just keeps getting better with every book! Starting with the short story "Midnight," set in Layla's reverse harem world, Ms Mint gives readers the POV of ALL of the characters. So instead of the whole story being told by Layla, we now get to peek inside the heads of all of her men as well, including the ghostly Daniel.

Each book I fall in love with Ink more, since he's growing and changing. As a lust demon, an incubus, he's not supposed to be able to feel emotions. But having become human briefly in Badge, to save Layla's life, then almost dying, seems to have given him the ability to feel emotions that are dangerous for an immortal sin to feel. His dilemma becomes very clear in this book.

Then there's Cal, the werewolf who hates what he is, because of his horrible, abusive childhood. And the fact that he will be forced to kill his only surviving brother at some point in the future. Reading his thoughts is tough, since he's in so much pain. But it makes his behavior toward Layla and the other men in her life, more understandable.

Garavel is a demi-angel, the most recent man to join Layla's fan club. But he's never experienced anything of physical love. Will he ever work up the nerve to approach Layla? And poor Daniel is also growing and changing, and not necessarily in a good way. He's still not corporeal, so he can't express his love to Layla--yet. But she's still trying to accumulate the ingredients for the spell to bring him back to being alive. Will she be able to do it?

And what about the mysterious Mr. White? The being who is using Cal's older brother as his pit bull, to achieve his unholy ends. When will he make his moves, and will Layla be strong enough, even with all of her men, to fight him? And Layla's mother isn't dead? What's that all about?

So many questions, and more books to come! While I want to get to the end, to see what the author has in mind for Layla and her coven, I'm eagerly awaiting the next book, just for another chance to live in the heads of all of these characters I've grown to love so much. If you've never read any of these books, what are you waiting for? Start with Ink, then work your way through all of the books. Then let's talk about which of the men you love the most. Or if you're like me, and you love ALL of them! As I've said before, in my next life, I want to be Layla!

Every book is better than the next. This book focuses on the Coven and adding Garavel into the mix. He is still not feeling Cal and that causes a weird feeling to settle between them. There is also still the back and forth of the will they, won't they between Garavel and Layla. Is Garavel going to ever be a complete member of the coven? He wants to and Layla definitely wants to, but both a hesitant to make that move. All of the coven members are trying to figure out where they fit and how they fit together.

Layla needs some time off and Dana has the solution. She had plans to help out her cousin to renovate the lakeside retreat that they own. She can no longer do it and enlisted the help of Layla and her coven and Fariah and her girlfriend, Maram. Off to the lake resort that needs a lot more work than Dana led them to believe.

Oh, Layla's mother is back and very condescending. Layla does not want to deal with her until she has to. Layla always has to save somebody. The somebody in this book Zaxigrath, he reminded Layla of a giant puppy with no fur, a massive whale-like head and skin of razor blades. I know, I was thinking the same thing, what the hell. Zaxigrath wants to go back to hell with his created demon, Torran. Layla needs to help them by opening a portal to hell. In exchange they could give them a vial of Zaxigrath's blood that is needed to help Daniel become real. Layla will need a lot of help and a prayer to get through this adventure.

I know there is a lot going on in this book. Just like every other book in this series and it's what makes the series great. I don't want to spoil anything for you. There were a lot of big questions left up in the air at the end of this book. I will definitely be reading the next book in this series to see how that plays out. Who is Layla's father? Is Layla's mother a permanent fixture now? What is Conquest up to? So many questions, so few answers. I am definitely hanging on to see how this series ends.

This series sort of reminds me of a TV series of episodes, different stories each book/episode but still following along with the main storyline bit by bit. I could definitely see this being an extensive series because I feel like so many questions need to be answered and so many problems need to be solved. I find it exciting to guess when some of the previously mentioned characters will be thrown back into the storyline again. White wasn't a priority for a while then he came back, now I'm just waiting for the agent to come back into the picture and everything will be perfect, or as perfect as it can get with Layla and her men.

As predicted, the men in Layla's harem are still not getting along. I really thought a couple books back that things were looking up but there is still that tension and with the addition of Garavel, things haven't gotten any better. The animosity from Garavel against all wolf kind really makes things difficult sometimes with Cal, but (I really don't want to say it and possibly jinx things) I think things may be settling down for the guys in the hatred department. I am sure they will always make jabs at one another, but maybe it will be more teasing than anything?

As I've mentioned in other reviews, I've loved seeing the changes in Ink since the beginning of this series. He was a little annoying at first but I've come to really like his character and the little bits of humanity he has been experiencing in regards to love and emotions towards Layla. Huge strides for him in this book and I can't wait to see more.

I have never wanted to slap characters more in my life. JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER FOR THE LOVE OF GOD

Scales was a wonderful read! I'm so excited to see what happens next and where these guys go from here. Things are really starting to pull together and I've got an inkling about a few things that I'm really curious if they'll happen. And Stone is about to be back! I love him and I'm really looking forward to him and Layla reuniting.

I love Layla as a character so much. She's so relatable and now that I've read most of the series, I feel like I've known her my whole life. She's such a dynamic woman and watching her grow into herself and her powers across the series has been a real pleasure. I'm going to be so upset for this series to end as I've gotten really attached to all of these characters, even if Cal and I were about to throw down in this one. They're a beautiful, flawed family and I'm really enjoying being part of their lives through this series.

Onwards and upward as they say! What does Ellen have in store for Layla and her coven, I wonder...

Coven of Desire #6, by Ellen Mint

Layla is needing a break after everything that’s happened, and her mother showing up after being dead for 15 years, so jumps at the chance to help clean up a cabin resort by a lake with her men. But being able to relax ends up being the last thing they can think about with Mr White/Conquest after them.

This one is told from the POV of all members of Layla’s coven and I particularly liked the humour and rivalry between the men, despite their shared love for Layla which has them working together. It was also great seeing Garavel/Gary starting to become more human in expressing his feelings, and his kitten Fiona who’s always with him.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I absolutely love reading unique and different books and this books as well as the entire series delivers! It's refreshing to not have an insta-love book or one where the harem is pre-established and all get along. With so many dangers and obstacles to overcome, our FMC Layla tries to take a "working" vacation with her harem. Unfortunately, it won't be a peaceful one, the guys are all facing their own challenges and still trying to get along with each other while monsters, hunters and other surprises crawling out of the trees. Layla must once again lead them and fight for everything that's important. As this is one of my favorite series, I can't wait for the next book.

Scales is a nice addition to the series. It keeps getting better and better with each book. In this one, Layla and her ever growing coven of men are headed to the beach for a little vacation. Except it's not much of a vacation with everything that's happening. There are many developments and revelations in this book, as well as a lot of character developments. I have to say, I wasn't the biggest fan of Ink, but he's definitely growing on me and he's now my favorite! The few last chapters are absolutely amazing.

Wow, the gang got much more than they bargained for when they volunteered to fix up a vacation camp. Daniel and Ink are feeling out of touch with the group while everyone else seems to be moving forward. Cal is fighting his own mental demons while Daniel is trying to remember himself. The group trip to relax and connect ends up being something else entirely as well as the surprise from the last book crashing the adventure. Gary finally finds purpose and starts to overcome the past with help from Fiona.

I love this series. It’s fun, steamy, witty, angsty and full of action. It made me laugh and smile as well as a few gasps if “Oh no!”. Layla and her men are struggling with various bad guys, feelings, situations and each other and it doesn’t look like things are going to settle down for a while yet.
Looking forward to the next to see where Ms Mint will take my favourite coven to next.

Totally thought I had reviewed this earlier but I hadn't yet. I really think this series isn't getting enough attention as it is such a whirlwind of excitement for me. This is absolutely epic. How she manages to stay on track? I don't know. Taking a relaxing holiday isn't in the cards sadly. I love all the povs we get in this and can't wait to read more!

The first half of Scales was slow going for me as Layla and her crew try to embark on a working holiday.
The second half of the book was full of a lot more of the action that I have been coming to expect from Ellen Mint and I can't wait for the conclusion of Coven of Desire.
3.5 stars for me.

This series just gets better. Layla and her coven? go on a "working vacation" but as always things are never calm. Bring into the mix Garavel and Layla's mom and there is so much going on. It is fast paced and exciting. Never a boring page. Just loved it!!

Layla gets a bit more than she bargained for when she goes on vacation. With her and her men the is also chaos that follows. This is a captivating and fun addition to the series. It showcases a lot of development in relationships and characters. I loved that we also got the men's POVs. This is a wonderfully written read.

Layla is still trying to fight the good fight and save the work. She is trying her best to find her way in the world with her men. She is in for a big surprise when here friend asks her to go to the beach and clean up some cabins. Cal, Ink, Daniel and Garavel of course went along on the trip. They thought that all would have a good time, but of course problems and fights of good against evil happened. Layla.s mother showed up and all hell broke loose. I cannot wait to see what will happen next.
