Racy!

Rate this book
In North Yorkshire, when Gerard Santé, son and heir to one of Britain’s most respected horse racing stables is tragically killed in a car crash, the event proves to be a catalyst for change within many lives. Not least for his lifelong friend, Charles Lancaster-Baron. Charles is one of Britain’s most handsome and eligible bachelors, yet, almost instantly, Gerard’s death forces him to realise that his fast, carefree lifestyle needs to change. But he holds a dark secret, one that, if unearthed, could see him clattering down the social ladder fast – being a wealthy socialite; this is something that he will go to any lengths to prevent.

Meanwhile, after witnessing Gerard’s funeral, Julia Smith, a beautiful love starved gypsy girl has an insatiable need to better her life; she sees a day at the races as the perfect route for temporary escape. It is at the thrilling May race meeting at York that all Julia’s wishes come true when she meets the Italian millionaire, champion jockey Luca DeMario. Nevertheless, it isn’t long before she realises her new world is far from perfect…

With the delicate thread of racing galloping up sex, greed, glamour and love, the race is on for change.

There is no doubt; real change only comes about when you’re Racy!

An interesting weave of plotlines - but the verbose writing style, poor proof reading and fabricated words let this novel down. There are also inaccuracies and holes in the detail. Quite bizarrely, despite the distraction of too many adjectives and adverbs, incorrect syntax and wavering point of view, I did enjoy this book - but it could have been half as long and four times as pacy.
