Love Child

As always, Brian W Smith, pens a story that leaves you on the edge of your seat up to the very last page. This book is about a woman who has endured a lifetime of hurt and disappointments. She thinks she has finally found happiness and can't wait to start a family. Her philandering husband Eric brings her more heartache when he fathers a child with another woman. Will Sonya finally find happiness? Will Eric give up his whorish ways and be the husband that Sonya deserves? You won't be disappointed!

great story until the end. the story just ends abruptly. I did not get the closure I needed with Linda and sonya. This book defintely needed one more chapter to close the story out.

Excellent book. The things that people do. There are times when one will protect you, only to call in favors later down the line.

Childless in Texas

It's devastating to Sonya Lucas that she can't give her husband the one thing he wants more than anything - a child. As the result of a brutal rape in her childhood, Sonya has not been able to carry a baby to full term.

Quincy Lucas wants a child, specifically a son to be his heir and carry on the family name. He loves his wife, but he can't seem to get past his yearning for a child.

Some nine months later, Quincy is the proud father of a baby. Problem is Sonya's not the mother. Can their marriage withstand infidelity?

Although the story had a strong premise, its execution was mediocre. Character development was minimal. There were some twists and turns but not enough to turn this novella around. I also found the way some scenes played out as unrealistic. Maybe if this was a full length novel those issues could have been worked out for a smoother flow. There were also editing issues. "My Husband's Love Child" is not a bad read, but it's simply okay.

@ editing issues - it has been brought to our attention that the copy we rec'd for review, in error, was the unedited version.

Fraudulent

MY HUSBAND’S LOVE CHILD by Brian W. Smith details the lives, mishaps and entanglements of Sonya Lobo-Lucas, her husband Quincy and her lifelong friend and savior, Milton Washington. Far from growing up with a silver spoon, each one of them has had to overcome obstacles in their childhood. Regrettably for Sonya, her past is keeping her from fulfilling her husband’s long desire. When Quincy starts to get his needs met elsewhere, is there any reason left to stay home?

A novella, MY HUSBAND’S LOVE CHILD is only 127 pages. While the story is to the point, I still felt as if so much was missing and maybe if it had been a full novel, the story could’ve built up more suspense. All while I was reading, I kept asking myself, ’what’s the point?’ I’ve read better from this author. I can’t deny that the neighbor, Nelly, was a hoot! The deception, betrayal and drama certainly keep the pages turning, but for me, MY HUSBAND’S LOVE CHILD just wasn’t as filling as I would’ve liked.

MY HUSBAND’S LOVE CHILD by author Brian W. Smith is about the life of a husband and wife ,Sonya and Quincy. Both Sonya and Quincy had to overcome obstacles in their childhood.

Sonya who can't give her husband the one thing he wants more than anything, a child of his own. Sonya was rape in her childhood and has not been able to carry a baby to full term. Sonya is a model wife, while Eric is not the model husband.

Eric has a love child with his mistress Ann. The deception, betrayal, secrets and drama will have you turning the pages. I love the title and the book cover was perfect fit for the title. The characters were well developed. You will love the neighbor, Nelly she is something else. I caught myself laughing at Nelly's actions. The twist and turns caught me off guard. I did not expect the ending.

I would recommend this book to all readers. This book would be a great book club discussion.

"My Husband's Love Child" by Brian W. Smith

My Thoughts...

I found this another good read from the author. The two main characters [Sonja and Eric] were off the chart but I must say that Sonya was the bomb. That ending truly left me saying wow. The author knows how to get and keep your attention with that little twist that you may not see coming. The title really fits this novella. Very well done to the author!

I choose this read for my Amazon Prime September, 2016.

Woman scorned

I loved reading the background of the main characters- it set the stage for who they would become and how they operated. Eric was truly arrogant and as disrespectful as his father. And his wife was dedicated and dutiful. All is not what it appears to be with these people though. The twists snuck up on me, but I should have expected it as a woman scorned is a dangerous woman indeed.
I rated 4 stars because I was left hanging at the end...you just can't trust anyone.

I should really stop thinking that I know the REAL ending of a BWS story. From the title, you know that husband cheats on wife and a child is born. You can't help but to wonder what role the child will play in the family dynamic.

How do you cover up something of this magnitude. Things were almost free and clear, but OHHHHH that one nosey neighbor!!!

Good anticipation, nice twist.

Unsuspecting Ending!

This was a quick short read. Started off fairly slow in the beginning, but Brian Smith always gives a great description of his characters. Sonya does her best throughout this novella to give her husband, the one thing he has always wanted the most…. a child. This wasn’t the best read by Brian Smith but definitely a good short read, with a plot twist.

Karma is real!

This was a wild ride. Done in Brian Smith fashion, great twists and turns. Really surprised by the conclusion. Appears everything is not wrapped up with a pretty now but unless there's a sequel we'll never know!

My gracious, I was recently introduced to Mr. Smith by an excerpt he posted for a new book that has not been released yet. I was so impacted by the excerpt that I came to amazon and looked up the rest of his books. I can say that he has a new fan. First of all, I loved his characters and the descriptions make you feel as though you are in the room with them. Secondly the things that these characters does so well is make you think of people that you know just like them. Thirdly, his ends have a kick you in the face twist. In other words it leaves you saying, I was not looking for that to happen". Sonya and her husband Eric are a little bit special.Sonya is having difficulty getting pregnant and Eric is head over heels for them to have children. His head-over heelness causes some serious issues in the marriage, but we don't realize the full magnitude of the problem until it all goes south. It goes south QUICKLY and very badly. The ending was priceless. I was not expecting that at all.The secondary characters are amazing Milton, Linda and crazy Mamma Nelly need their own story. When Nelly and Eric had it out in the drive way I thought I would die laughing. I loved it, great story, great book!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great novella! BWS has became one of my all-time favorite authors. I like how this book is broken down by chapters, with each chapter focusing on a different character or a specific situation. With his books, I'm never hesitant when purchasing new releases; hence, I know without a shadow of a doubt that this author will deliver good, quality work. Thus, BWS storylines and characters are always well-developed, and the reader can always expect some type of unpredictable twist that leaves you wanting more.

This short novella was definitely a page turner. I didn't see it coming. The ending had my waiting with baited breath. But the story seemed to miss connections in the beginning. I had to keep going back and try to connect the dots. The relationship between Milton and Sonya could have been further explained. I will say it was a story I won't forget.

Eric and Sonya are a very successful African-American couple who appear to have everything...except a child. Eric has one too many affairs, and ends up with a love child. How does his wife handle this? In true Brian W. Smith fashion, there is a twist that you just don't see coming.

I can honestly say that this wasn't my favorite book by Brian W. Smith. The ending left me either confused and wanting something more with closure. There were also some editing issues that were really hard to overlook. This did not deter me from reading more books by this author in the future.

I've read a lot of books from Mr. Smith and I've enjoyed them all, but I have to say I didn't enjoy this one. It was my least favorite. There were way to many errors and sometimes the wrong named person was used. I'm glad it was a novella.

Great book !

This books was sooo good. Moved a little fast but it flowed nicely. I'm gonna go look for a part 2 although I'm hoping there isn't one. I don't want them to get caught. The twist at the end was way different than what I expected. Great book !

It was ok

The book started out unpredictable but then became very predictable during the middle. Not really any suspense or edge of your seat action.
