It was good, but a bit disappointing after I loved book 1 so much. There was just way too much going on in this book, and I was confused about 75% of the time. There were too many villains and different quests all crammed into one book, so everything was super rushed and not fleshed out. A lot of scenes felt like they were still in outline-stages, and I couldn't follow how we jumped from point A to point B. There were also lots of things that were just never explained or were general plot holes. Everything felt like it worked out too conveniently. I also did not like how many things happened off-page (i.e. Caitlin's daughter being executed, and Dante becoming the king of the underworld, which I still don't understand). Also, I was shipping Kitarni's relationship with Andras more than Dante in this book--they had better chemistry tbh.

Possibly will add to this review later--I need to collect my thoughts.

“My little hellcat,” he said with a chuckle. “Causing trouble as always.”

If you’re looking for a quick binge read this duology is just for you! It was so easy to fall in love with these characters. And they certainly know how to pack a punch to the feels. :’)

This book brings a satisfying conclusion to the story, but I wish we’d had more time with the characters. I was kinda hoping the conflict between Kitarni and Dante would’ve lasted a little longer (considering Dante’s betrayal in book 1). However things are wrapped up fairly quickly since this is a duology which I can understand why that fit pacing better.

Overall this was a very easy, spicy read!

Sorry no, this was not for me. I liked the dual povs but that was about it. “Spread your legs, Freckles” is something I never want to read ever again. 🤮

okay so in the authors defence she did warn that this is 18+ and that there would be explicit scenes so this is totally a me problem.🙄 But can we please go back to when fantasy was about fairies 🧚🏻‍♀️ ✨and magical forests and whimsical creatures instead of just spicy scenes on repeat. And I’m talking about like general fantasy books written nowadays. Like when I read exiled witch cult I want exiled witch cult. 👏🏼The crass language and explicit scenes just make the book loose charm and tbh makes it a bit trashy🫤.

Look, I like a little side dish of spice as much as the next girl but it cannot be the full course meal. Not saying that this book lacked plot but covering up a slow/tad bit boring plot with lots of spice doesn’t make the book any better. 🥱

The wolf lord of Mistvellen, cowering before a woman scorned.

She could destroy me and I would love her still.

after the shocking plot twist, i was hyped going into the this. we got a much more exciting plot than the first book and some more fantasy favorites, i.e. the main characters training together. it definitely helped that this was a dual pov.

however, again, i had a hard time connecting to the story and the characters. the found family trope didn’t hit for me. the side quests had me wondering when we lost the plot and if we would find it again.

furthermore, i found there to be similarities to other popular series’. i got these same vibes from the first book but dismissed it because there is only so many ways you can write a story, right? well, there was a “like calls to like”, “i will not yield”, and a dead trove crown with unfathomable (primarily because it is not explained at all) capabilities that is located in a similar way to our beloved prison harp. not to mention, the repetitive writing, i.e. the mmc took off his pants twice on one page. speaking of the mmc, he is a dimpled feminist just like casteel. -all to say, i am learning that i am more critical and harder to please when it comes to fantasy.

back to our mmc, to end on a positive note, he literally went to hell and back for our fmc. kitarni was the martyr, always scheming like aelin, but dante made sure she was not the only one executing risky plans. he made sure that she would never be alone again. and most importantly, that she survived to see their people reunited.

Together, you’re unstoppable, a force to be reckoned with. I believe your fates are wound together and, regardless of your feelings, the gods have bigger plans for the two of you.

She was a goddess of death, and I, the faithful servant by her side.

A couple more review points are in my book highlights.

There was too much promising of what each character will do or should do and not enough actual doing.

The whole trial of magic to decide a new High Witch sounded interesting, but it was unnecessary in this book. If I re-wrote this book, I would not introduce Iren as a competitor to the title. I would've made the crowning of a new High Witch a one chapter event and the burning on a pyre another (single) chapter, and then moved on. Instead, that whole parade lasted from 16% until 22%, but the story didn’t really get back on track until 30%.

The story felt weak overall and under-developed. Much of the book was taken up by unimportant things. The plot points that tied everything together and led up to the big fight were not really there, if that makes sense. The entire book felt like it jumped around to random topics that didn’t intertwine very seamlessly and then suddenly, the battle is upon us.

I used to think that smut could make any book worth the read but after this book, I don’t think so anymore. There was nothing really wrong with the way the author writes it but it was a distraction and nothing more. It added nothing to the plot. If anything, it took away from what this book could’ve been. I love my spicy romances but this one just didn't hit the mark for me.

“Love is a funny thing. It burrows inside you until it’s etched into your bones. You can’t forsake it, not can you deny it.”

Read this Fantasy Romance duology if you like;
• Enemies-to-Lovers
• Found Family
• Witches and Demons
• Arranged Marriage
• Spicy scenes
• Strong Heroine
• Action-Packed

The Fated and the Damned is a great conclusion to this duology!

Fast pacing, easy to read writing style and short chapters keeps me interested until the end.
I love to read from both POVs – Kitarni and Dante, I like seeing how Kitarni grows stronger and step up to being the leader she meant to be.
I love her relationship with Andras, she founds a new family beside her mother and sister.

I really like the chemistry between Kitarni and Dane, they really suit each other. However, I wish the angsty and anger moments could have played out a bit longer after the betrayal that happens in the first book.....
This book also has several spicy scenes and they are quite detailed too. It's a lot spicier compare to the first book.

The final battle scene is one of my favorite parts of the book, it’s intense with swords-fighting and witches battling with their powers to defeat the villain!

It’s a well-written enthralling story with lots of different emotions throughout the story.
Overall, I would recommend to fantasy romance lovers to read this duology.
I’m really looking forward to read more from this author in the future!

I devoured both books in this duology in just one week and am so obsessed with this dark, magical world of witches, táltosok, Fate, Death, and plenty of spicy romance 🔥

I loved this even more than book 1! I was SO GLAD that Dante’s POV was added in this book—I was pretty mad at him at the end of book 1, but his POV chapters really helped me understand him more. Kitarni in particular struggles with a lot in this book (growing power, new leadership roles, betrayal and doubt) but I felt that her journey was very empowering and authentic to who she is. The side characters continue to play a strong role in the story, and I especially enjoyed seeing Kitarni develop better relationships with other characters, like András and Margit. The spice really cranks up to a new level, so if you’re in the mood for spicy romantasy—this needs to be on your TBR 📚

Eh good not great. After loving the first book I was excited to see how the duet ends but I was confused with the plot for maybe 85% of the book.

see, the the plot of the first book intrigued me enough i was able to look past the writing…but this book was just way too cringe. i couldn’t help but roll my eyes and there were parts i had to put it down to take a breath because of how awful and ridiculous the word choice and phrasing was. the premises of the book was interesting but the author introduced things and that then came up 20 chapters later when you’d already forgotten about them. too much talking and not enough doing. also very predictable ending and awful smut.

struggled to finish 😐

I received this book for free from Author, MTMC Tours in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. You can also find this review at The Reader and the Chef + creative content based on the book!

I can’t believe the Cursed Blood duology has come to an end, and while I am sad that it’s over, I am extremely pleased with how it concluded. I read The Cursed and the Broken last year and I was completely enchanted by Kitarni’s story (read my review here). And let me say that The Fated and the Damned was equally good, from the romance to the high stakes this world offers, I swear there is never a dull moment.

Kitarni is AMAZING! 💞 In the first book, we meet her as someone that is being shunned by most witches of her coven, making feel quite lonely despite having a loving mother and sister. Now in this sequel we get to see her surrounded by friends and allies, a fiancé that adores her, and many others finally appreciating her! And despite having a difficult task ahead, Kitarni is completely shining on her own. If you haven’t started this duology yet, you are definitely missing out!

Now Dante, oh Dante. He really did screw up! 😂 Will not say much on the matter, but I still really liked his character and you could tell he tries to improve throughout the story. He gets help of course, mostly by András and Eszter, another two characters that I enjoyed reading about.

The main goal of Kitarni is for witch covens and clans to co-exist, for families to remain together, and for all kinds of magical beings to live in peace without fear. There’s also the matter of stopping the Dark Queen, like really, this book is a page turner! I really enjoyed this duology, super recommended for all fantasy romance readers out there! 🧡✨

Phenomenal, steamy and action packed

Chloe does it again! I loved book one so was extremely excited to see whether book two would provide the same action- and DAMNED did it deliver!

It was even steamier than book one🤌🏻 extremely high stakes and plot wise executed perfectly.

Dante’s one liners had me fanning myself. Too damn good.

- I was very generously gifted an arc for TFATD, I started reading it then immediately realised I needed to re-read the first book first so that I could fully appreciate it! So a few days later After re-reading The Cursed and the Broken I was back to the Fated and the Damned!
Like the first book this is an absolute classic fantasy romance, Kirtani and Dante are both as feisty as ever.
- The story itself was well rounded and the paced itself well and came to an excellent conclusion by the end.
It’s an enjoying and easy read which give you the fill of fantasy that you need!
- the duology itself has some classic tropes! Arranged marriage, enemies to lovers, and I loved the way the Hungarian folklore was folded into the storyline!

"The mess of battle never bothered me. I was a blood witch, after all.”

I can’t recommend this duology enough!!!!

When Chloe Hodge asked for readers to send her ARC to I KNEW I needed to be one of them. And I absolutely loved this (and the first, obviously). The progression of Dante and Kitarnis relationship is so good. From an arranged marriage to falling absolutely head-over-heels in love was so just so incredible to read. “𝑾𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒈𝒐, 𝑰 𝒈𝒐, 𝑲𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊,” 𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝒂 𝒉𝒖𝒔𝒌𝒚, 𝒓𝒂𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒗𝒐𝒊𝒄𝒆. “𝑰 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒇𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒐𝒘 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝒅𝒂𝒓𝒌𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 , 𝒐𝒓 𝑰 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒖𝒓𝒏 𝒊𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒆. I has been highly anticipating this conclusion to this fantastic duology, and it did not disappoint .I was so excited to see more of Kitarni and Dante, and their story with a fabulous cast of found family and dark villains. With more action, higher stakes, hilarious dialogue and top-tier spice, this book was just so entertaining throughout and such an exciting read. I’ve never read any Hungarian lore and it was really interesting to see that aspect within the plot. The enemies to lovers was perfection, the chemistry between Kitarni and Dante was passionate and electric—and I LOVE Dante with my whole heart. His inner monologue had me giggling at times, and shedding a small tear during other times. I also loved seeing Kitarni grow in her strength, both physically and mentally. Her journey was relentless and reckless, with a fire that burned in the best way. The friendships formed throughout the story and the found family that developed was such a tender aspect which I really enjoyed. The of the book had my heart racing and I really loved some little twists that happened along the way. Chloe has a fantastic way of epic world-building and tension filled action, but what I love most is her way of capturing the very essence of every character and bringing them together to create something so magical.

I was worried that I wouldn't love this book as much as the first one since I was physically reading it rather than listening to the audiobook (because who is gonna pay $15 for the audiobook when I can read it for free?!) Anyway..

Kitirni and Dante are my bread and butter. I genuinely wish I lived in this world - I would gladly leave everything behind (besides my girl and our cats) to live in Mistvellen! Like the first one, I just need to note that I love a bad-ass bitch who will take down anyone in her path to protect those she loves. If a story has that, I'm hooked.

About half way through my reading, I feared I had figured out the ending - and I'm so glad I was wrong! This story of love, loss, and finding your true power is truly beautiful. This had me laughing, crying, and gasping from start to finish!

4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I received an ARC of the Fated And The Damned 🌙

I love Kitarni, she’s a stubborn, brave & chaotic queen 👸

I really loved these books, I’m so sad that this was only a duology. Chloe’s writing constantly keeps me interested, I couldn’t put the book down.

As an avid smut reader, I really appreciated that the spice level was turned up in this book! I really feel that the chemistry between Kitarni & Dante was soooooo passionate.

I haven’t read anything based on Hungarian Lore, it was super interesting & unique!

I loved these books, I really hope we get more books on some of the side characters!! I neeeeed more from Andras, Chloe I’m looking at you 👀

The Fated and the Damned was such a good follow up for book 1 in this duology. I enjoyed it more than the first book, and that’s largely due to the inclusion of Dante’s POV and the consistent pacing.

Watching Kitarni’s growth as a person and with Dante is wonderful to see. She really comes in to her own in book 2, and watching her create a family with the people she’s gotten to know was lovely to see.

This is such a gripping, fast paced story full of twists and turns, and ultimately, has a fitting, and somewhat realistic, ending

It was hard to get into this book because I've read the 1st one 7 or 8 months ago and the ending was a little blurry. I also think the writing was less good than in the 1st book.
Kit describes Dante as a "poetic bastard" and that is so true. Every word he has for her is swoony and cheesy and poetic. I loved it!
The second part of the book was epic. The underworld, the battles, the final death,... It was impeccably written and impossible to not live the moment through the words.

I love lust with my literature but the smut muddled the plot in this sequel. The build up was good… but not great like the first book. The ending scenes were good enough to tie it all together and leave proper resolve so I didn’t feel empty or as if I wasted my time and the series all in all was super enjoyable. Also, did I mention it has lots of spice 😏 Book 2 especially 🌶🌶🌶🌶🥵 (VERY GRAPHIC. NOT FOR THE PRUDE)

Overall nice plot and some very choice character development, but some events repeating from different povs felt unnecessary and added nothing. feel like the ending was very predictable, but there will still a couple of twists and deaths that made it interesting. This book reminds me a lot of the shepherd king series and I would recommend! Also, the spicy scenes really took a turn j wasn’t expecting… do with that what you will🫵

This quick binge duology was enjoyable with likeable characters. This could easily have been a more in-depth trilogy, BUT it's also super refreshing to just have a duology. The ending kinda crept up quickly, and it was done, and it glossed over a few events. But saying that, I enjoy my witchy reads, and it was definitely easy and enjoyable.

Right off the bat, I will tell you I bought this book because I had already read the first book in this duology and just had to know how the story ended between Kitarni and Dante. After doing so, I thought the first book, “The Cursed and the Broken” had a better plot, explained character’s motives in more detail, and had less plot holes. This book specifically had a few plot holes that ruined the story for me towards the end. However, it’s main selling point for me was that it was SO spicy. One scene in particular was insanely 🌶️🌶️🌶️. All in, lots of spice, really well thought out characters, and easy to follow writing style. ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5.
