We got this so long ago, that I can't remember the tattoos. I will say, that this was one of the favorite books of both of our girls (Oldest now in university), and is now being loved again by our 6 year old son. Pictures are great. Story is simple but delightful, following the mermaids as they get ready for a fancy party at the mermaid queen's palace.
