Very well done book on the Medicare sign up when you decide to retire. Ms. Omdahl covers every topic you can think of as it relates to your new Medicare insurance: the cost, parts A, B, D, F, G, N, and original Medicare versus Medicare Advantage plans. Who to call, what to explore, how to choose, and when to sign up. It is still a daunting subject but she has successfully condensed it and left the important things in, such as when you must be signed. She also covers that which is often overlooked….the importance of having a POA and authorization at Medicare.gov and Social Security for you and your spouse. In the event you become able to state your wishes in regards to where you want your check to be deposited or if you need to change your Medicare coverage in any way…if you can’t say that …your spouse will not be able to speak for you without an authorization. Great book. Highly recommend. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me this ARC.
This book is absolutely packed with information about this insurance program for American seniors. The author is knowledgeable and pulls on a variety of resources. The writing style is clear, encouraging and filled with examples. Ms. Omdahl notes that the choices that are made in selecting a plan have important implications for one’s health care; she urges readers to educate themselves.
This resource is recommended for anyone who feels that they need to know more about Medicare prior to completing their enrollment process. It is a good reference.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Humanix books for this title. All opinions are my own.
This is a really necessary and timely book - I am helping my aging parents navigate medicate plans and enrollment (I still have five years before I need to enroll) and it is very confusing! This book helps guide us through all the considerations and steps and it is clear and well-written. One of the most disheartening things we learn is that when you call Social Security office with questions, you may not get the right answer. So it is important to know what to ask and to confirm the information with other sources like this book. This is a comprehensive guide that walks you through how to enroll, how to pick the appropriate plans (there are many parts to Medicare).
This is very informative and covers every aspet of Medicare. The information is current and up to date. I had extensivly researched Medicare prior to reading this book and found information I leaned. I would recommend this book for all entering the MediCare journey.
Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley foor the opportunity
