A very interesting read from someone who cares about the town. It could easily fall into a catalogue of woe about new developments but instead seems to take a balanced, if critical, view of the evolution of the town.
What is intriguing is how many of the concerns of the 1982 edition remain (nationally) topical now: the balance of growth and amenity; the need for transport without throttling community etc.
An easy read: Chamberlin has a gentle style and makes the sometimes dry content live.
