This book contains a masterly survey of the problem of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and other Backward Classes. The author has summed up the current thinking on the subject by the Supreme Court of India and other public men interested in this subject. He has also given practical suggestions for tackling the problem of reservation which is facing the country today. He has pointed out the pitfalls and also the way out. The author has described in detail the miserable condition of the so-called untouchables and depressed classes in India and the remarkable work done by Dr. Ambedkar for their uplift. He has also discussed in detail the contribution of Dr. Ambedkar to Indian social, political and constitutional thought in Indian Polity. It is a thought-provoking work for thinkers, parliamentarians, social reformers and the Government.
