I definitely was not expecting that plot twist at the ending! Babygirl Daniels has great books. This is the third I've read by her and they never disappoint.. I just wish they weren't so damn short! This was a quick and easy read, I finished it in maybe a little over an hour and it was probably my favorite by her so far! Highly recommend.

That plot twist hit me like I owed it money! 🤯

Ummm what?! That plot twist hit sooooo hard I am completely stuck!

This story was so good even though it was super short. Wow I REALLY enjoyed this story and I am so amazed at how talented the author is to have packed so much into such a short book. A really great YA read. Awesome!
**Update** For the past couple of days the plot twist has been popping back up in my mind and I can't help but feel some type of way about how things were revealed. I don't really like that part of the book at all. Still a great story but I feel like the parents should have handled things better.

This book was lovely! Babygirl Daniels is a great author and I recommend that you read her books.

Sure as you read, you feel like Tara should stick up for herself more and you can help but think "If that was me I would..." or "Uh-uh that would never fly with me" but in the end, things work out fine and she finally receives all of the love, affection, and answers that have been a void her whole life. Things would have went done so much more differently however, if Tara's parents would have told her the real reason why they put Mya on such a high pedestal. But I guess if it went down like that then this story would have been flat.

Babygirl Daniels is an amazing author. I just have to add one more thing, Tara and Maurice are so cute!

This is one of my favorite books that I read this year. It was so good that I have even read it twice. This novel contains many morals that make u think as you read. One example is judging people. Just because someone looks like they have it good, doesn’t mean that their life is perfect. "Everything that glitters is not always made of gold".

Sister Sister was a fictional story that took place in Detroit, Michigan. It was about two young twin sisters by the name of Tara and Maya. Maya was the popular one, the one twin that gets spoiled by her parents. Everyone adored Maya. Meanwhile, Tara was the more laid back and chilled one. Not that many people liked her they only dealt with her because she was Maya’s sister. Tara always felt that her parents didn’t love her because they treated Maya better. Whenever Tara would ask for something her parents would say that don’t have the money for it, but if Maya asked they would say yes.

The two young teens 17th birthday was coming up and they decided to go shopping with their friends Summer and Asia. Summer was Tara’s only true friend. So while at the mall, Tara discovers that Maya and Asia leaves her and Summer. The two didn’t know why but as soon as Tara got put in handcuffs she knew why. Maya had stolen some clothing from the mall and being that Tara and Maya are twins, they got the two mixed up. Tara ended up taking the blame for her sister even though she didn’t even steal. Maya on the other hand got in a car accident on her way trying to flee the scene. Of course, their parents showed love to Maya even though she was the one who really stole. Sadly, Tara got in trouble and couldn’t even attend her OWN birthday party!

Her parents soon revealed to her a big surprise on her birthday…she was moving to California with her aunt. They claimed they were doing it because they were “financially unstable” but that was clearly a lie to get Tara away from them. Tara went from living into a 2 story home to a one bedroom house in the hood of Compton. She got beat up, bullied, and tortured there just because she was the new girl. She hated it with a passion. Then, thanksgiving rolled around and Maya vested Tara. Maya felt bad that her sister was going through these horrible living conditions. The night she came, the twins when to a party on the beach. The girls who jumped Tara ended up liking Maya which made Tara feel some type of way. Maya noticed it and suggested the girls switch necklaces (they had necklaces with their name of it to tell them apart from one another). Once they did that, the girls who jumped Tara thought she was Maya the whole time.

Tragically, gun shots were fired killing “Tara” aka Maya. Since the girls thought Tara got shot they fled the scene. Tara continued to wear Maya’s necklace because she wanted to know how it felt getting treated as Maya. A few month later, Tara’s parents took her to therapist and soon found out that she wasn’t Maya. Tara also discovered that her sister was diagnosed with schizophrenia that’s why they treated her differently. They also told Tara the only reason they made her move with her aunt is because Maya had thoughts of killing Tara. Overall, the story was amazing. I wasn’t expecting all of that happen in a 10 chapter book.

“Everything that glitters isn’t always gold.” Tara and Mya are twin sisters living in Detroit both exactly identical but internally different personalities. Mya the loved, popular, hood superstar, gets the spotlight while Tara her sisters shadow feels like the outsider. But little do they know that their day of separation is arriving quickly. Tara was jealous and annoyed that her sister got what ever she wanted. Knowing Mya was the evil sister and that she had done a lot of bad things. Tara couldn’t say anything especially after the bad accident. Ever since birth there has been a tension between the twins that leaves one looking for answers. How does she get everything she asks for but I have to wait. Why? When they went to the mall Mya had stole an outfit from the mall because she ddnt have enough money. Then when they caught her on camera she was the wrong person it was Tara they caught instead of Mya who really stole it. This book will show you things aren’t always as they look sometimes you have to ask questions without assumptions because assumptions only cause confusion. Communication is key to alot of things. Probably would have solved a lot of the concepts caused in this book. I think this book is a eye opener it had my attention from beginning to end. My emotions were involved constantly switching this book kept my mind wondering. Whats next? Why didn’t this happen? What could have happened if? Its based on real world scenarios we live in. I easily visualized each scene word for word. This book is like a rollercoaster whats next and suprises are all over.

This book....was wack. Starts out normal, like oh we're twins but I'm so jealous of my twin bc she's popular but then she's sent to her aunt's in cali by her parents to separate her from her sister?? Then her sister visits and then gets shot at a party?? Then they think the twin is her sister?? And she's fine with it?? Until it comes out in therapy and it turns out her sister had DID and one of her alters wanted to like kill her twin or something?? And she's suddenly okay with her sister being dead??? so weird. Three stars for confusion but also twists and turns

Even Though This Was A Snap Of The Finger Book. It Still Held A Good Story Line. I Can Honestly Relate To How Tara May Have Felt. Feeling Unseen, Not Heard, Or Even Cared About From Those Around Me. The Ending Took Me For A Complete Loop. I’ve Read The Books That Comes Before This Book. (16 On The Block, 16 1/2 On The Block, & Glitter) & To Be Honest Mya Wasn’t Really Liked By Me Very Much. So I Related Even More To Tara. Was Sad That Tara Had To Find Herself In The Death Of Her Sister. Really Good I Even Cried A Little Bit.

This was a decent story and I enjoyed they way Babygirl Daniels was able to draw in the reader with Tara’s emotions. However, there were quite a few things that didn’t make sense to me. The first, Mya calls Tara at the mall to tell her to meet her up the street, yet when Maurice asks for Tara’s number she doesn’t have a phone? What happened to her phone?

The second thing, Tara parents claim they showed Mya favoritism in order to help Mya’s personality disorder. Tara recalls seeing her parents show favoritism to Mya since she was 5 years, including giving Mya and extra birthday gift. Yet, Tara’s parents claim they started to see Mya’s personality disorder when she was about 7. Why were they favoring Mya before the signs her personality disorder?

Final thing, Tara’s parents claimed they sent her to live with her aunt in LA because Mya was envious of Tara and had wrote in her journal that she was going to hurt Tara. Yet, Tara’s parents were perfectly ok sending Mya, by herself, to visit Tara in LA during Thanksgiving break?

I would have also liked to see Mya’s shop lifting incident further addressed and to know what went down between Mya and Summer.

Overall, it was a good story, but there were areas that needed to be fact checked and/or further explained.

Utterly bizarre urban chick-lit told from the POV of a jealous twin. Tara feels that her twin sister Maya gets the best of everything while Tara gets the short end of the stick. Tara has one friend and is surprised when hot thug Maurice pays attention to her. Then she takes a shoplifting rap for Maya and gets shipped off to the California ghetto to live with their aunt. It's clear that everyone actually does hate her.

When Maya comes to visit Cali over Thanksgiving, she gets SHOT DEAD. Tara does the sensible thing and steals her identity. She gets to attend her own funeral and learn that life as Maya is not as fun as it seemed. She finally cracks in a therapy session, where it is also revealed that Maya suffered from multiple personality disorder, which led her to threaten Tara, which in turn led to her banishment to Compton.

This book is utterly improbable, but it contains lots of clean drama for middle school urban fiction fans. I didn't see any typos, swearing or sexual situations that could keep it out of a school library.

when i read this book it was to much of why they prefer Mya than Tara and why the parents couldn`t treat both of them the same way as they both wanted because deep inside. Tara was jealos and anoying that her sister got what she wanted and get what she liked. knowing deep inside it was Mya the evil sister and that she had done alot bad things the dialogue that Mya says is i was going to tell them the truth, but then whern i found out that Mya got into a bad accident while she was fleeing the scene, i just couldn't. now they just hate me and tyhey thinkj that i stole it. and if they think i stole it becvause when they asked me if i hsad, i told them yes. even though Tara still loved her parents more than anything in spiute of how they treated me. i couldnt stand for them to be angry with me and i hated Mya for not steeping out to the plate and admitting that she ws the one who had made the bad decision. when it was her birthday it wasn't really about her it was mostly about Mya. Mya ne3fver felt

Tara and Mya are identical twins, but on the inside they are complete opposites. Mya's the most popular girl in school - she's the hood superstar. Many times Tara feels like she's lost in her sister's shadow, but when a tragedy occurs and Tara steps into Mya's shoes, she discovers a side of her sister that she never knew about.
