Der geistig behinderte Ben wächst in einem Dorf in behüteten Verhältnissen auf. Hailed as Germany’s Patricia Highsmith, Petra Hammesfahr has written more than twenty crime and suspense novels, and also writes scripts for film and television. She has won numerous literary prizes, including the Crime Prize of Wiesbaden and the Rhineland Literary Prize. Her breakthrough novel, The Sinner, was a major critical and commercial success internationally, including in Germany, where it stayed on the bestseller list for more than fifteen months. The Sinner has been adapted for television as a limited series on USA starring Jessica Biel and Bill Pullman.

Hace mucho que no leía una historia tan fuerte: angustia e impotencia fueron las emociones que predominaron en medida que avanzaba con la historia.
Venía con muchas ganas de leer a esta autora y elegí empezar por esta novela y no me decepcionó. Sin embargo, me ha costado algunas veces seguir el hilo de la historia; muchos personajes, no todos aportaban demasiado a la trama, además, la manera en que salta en períodos de tiempo me confundió varias veces y terminaba enredandome un poco. No estoy segura de si es por mi falta de costumbre a lecturas con esta estructura o realmente se torna algo confuso. Más allá de eso, me gustó, seguramente probaré más de sus historias.

Stāsts ir rakstīts piņķerīgi. Ir ļoti daudz personāžu - vesels ciems. Man vajadzēja vairākkārt grāmatu nolikt malā, lai pēc ilgāka laika pie tās atkal pieķertos tieši šī iemesla dēļ. Bet pēc tam gan aizlasījos tā, ka tas vairs netraucēja. Visu laiku nākas domāt kurš ir vainīgais, kāpēc tā rīkojies un beigu beigās jau cīnies ar sevi domājot, ka varbūt tomēr ciema ļaudīm taisnība? Teiksim tā - labs galvas mežģis.😄

Un tad šķiet,ka viss, grāmata galā, vainīgais noķerts - tiek izlasīts grāmatas pēdējais teikums... Un nu grāmats jālasa 2.reizi, jo atbilde uz šo jautājumu ir daudz reiz interesāka par to,kurš vainīgs pie meiteņu pazušanām.

Ļoti daudz darbojošās personas - vesels ciemats! Tas brīžiem traucēja, bet personu dažādība bija vajadzīga, lai viņu rīcība, kaut minimāli, bet tomēr, ieviestu šaubas.
Nobeigums deva gan atbildi, gan jaunu jautājumu...

Read the book as it was recommended to me by a colleague. It’s an okay book, but I must say that I found it rather ‘creepy’ (which I guess is the point of the story). It freaks you out a bit. In that sense it’s well written as it does keep one guessing and the end does have a good twist.

The book does have a lot of characters in it and it took awhile to get my head around who is who and what relationship they have to each other. Don’t think all characters are needed and some don’t really add anything to the story. Sometimes less is more.

Not a book I would have chosen to read on my own. As mentioned a colleague gave me her copy and I read it (wouldn’t spend money on the book to be honest). However, unlike a lot of other books this one I will remember due to the rather disturbing subject matter.

Leider enttäuschend. Viel zu viele Personen und zu verwirrende Beziehungen zwischen ihnen.
Ganz schlimmer Dorfklüngel. Die Beschreibungen erinnerten eher an Dorfleben am Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts. Teilweise haben sich Verhaltensweisen aber auch sicher bis heute gehalten.
War nicht wirklich was für mich. Schade.

Katastrophal. Ich konnte mir das nicht länger antun. Zu viele Charaktere und zu viele kleinere Geschichten dazwischen, die zu nichts führen, außer, dass man durcheinander kommt. Keine Ahnung, wer wer war... Das Buch war bei Audible kostenlos. Hätte ich auch nur 1 Cent dafür bezahlt, hätte ich mich super geärgert.
Da ich das Buch nicht zu Ende gehört habe, bewerte ich es nicht.

Ultimo libro dell'anno. Storia niente male, il finale é aperto a un possibile secondo libro, ma ci sono troppi personaggi e il continuo avanti e indietro nel tempo tra i vari capitoli rende difficile seguire l'intera faccenda.

No vienas puses - samērā piņķerīgs darbs (gan no iesaistīto personu loka/daudzuma (tomēr vesels ciemats), gan arī no notikumu daudzuma). Beigas vienlaikus gan atbildēja, gan lika uzdod jautājumus.
Tomēr pārliecinoši var teikt, ka šis ir interesants darbs, kuru ir vērts izlasīt.

Belle descrizioni claustrofobiche da paesino sperduto di provincia (pettegolezzi, vecchi rancori, tutti sanno tutto di tutti ecc). Purtroppo, a metà libro si intuisce già il finale e si perde praticamente sempre il filo della storia, visto la quantità di personaggi presenti.

After liking Hammesfahr's 'die Schuldlosen', I was really looking forward to this novel. Even though I'm not a big fan of German authors, I kind of like the setting Hammesfahr creates. This might be cause most of her stories are taking place in little villages or small towns and - as I am from a tiny village myself - I can relate to the gossip, the 'groups' and the entire feeling that she creates.

However, the storyline of 'der Puppengräber' was not really my cup of tea. I did not like the mother's or the father's behaviour, the entire story that has been told wasn't as interesting as I hoped it would be and the grande finale fell kinda flat.

However, I really like the atmosphere that has been created, therefore it's a solide 3 stars for me.

šī noteikti būs kļuvusi par vienu no manām mīļākajām grāmatām! lasot šo grāmatu, es jutos tā it kā būtu Bena ģimenes loceklis un jutu viņam līdzi visu grāmatas gaitu. stāsts visu laiku liek domāt un mainīt savu viedokli par varoņiem uz visiem 180 grādiem vairākas reizes. grāmatu negribējās laist ārā no rokām kā tik tā tika paņemta un gribējās to lasīt katrā brīvā brīdī. pēdējās 100 lapasupuses tika izlasītasz vienā piegājienā nakts vidū, jo visu šokējošo notikumu dēļ, es vienkārši nevarēju apstāties un laiks pagāja nemanot.

De schrijfstijl was grappig en de verhaallijn interessant. Er waren wel veel personages en het was moeilijk te onthouden wie wie was, ik kon me ze namelijk niet voorstellen.
