"We live in times of turmoil and menace. Our need for a sanctuary has never been greater," says Chieko N. Okazaki. "Homes, wards, and friendships can be places of sanctuary, but only if we develop in our hearts a sanctuary where God may dwell." In this powerful new book on tape, Sister Okazaki discusses discipleship, unity, trust, love, and other principles that can bring holiness into our lives.
Chieko N. Okazaki was the first non-Caucasian to serve on a general board of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was a counselor in the general Relief Society presidency from 1990 to 1997. She is the author of several bestselling books and tapes. She and her husband, the late Ed Okazaki, have two sons.
I love Sister Okazaki, and have many times found peace and joy in her words. I picked up this book quite randomly, and found several pieces of specific advice I was looking for— almost as if it were written directly for me. I daresay anyone reading this book could find a piece of wisdom to apply to their lives.
“Let us listen to each other and learn from each other.” This seems to be one of the important lessons to learn from Sister Okazaki. This book specifically is about how we can create a sanctuary in the last days and how we can be one. Her messages are always so uplifting and I come away with so much.
An uplifting and insightful compilation of thoughts and experiences. Each chapter with a different theme. I enjoyed it and felt I got to know Sis Okazaki a little through it's pages.
