3 ½ stars – Paranormal Romance/Erotica/Ménage/BDSM

Apprentice witch Sybil, frustrated and bored with being treated like a fledgling errand girl by her coven, goes looking for some action, buys a seemingly worthless, innocent book of magic at an estate sale, and inadvertently ends up opening a gate to the shadow realm that can unleash demons and possibly end the world. So what’s a witch to do to make things right again and save humanity? How about submitting to a big ol’ sex fest with five immortals who serve as the Shadow Guardians for the goddess Inanna in an elemental ritual that will unleash her power and bind her to their ancient brotherhood? Besides, how bad could it possibly be, living as a pampered, pleasured sexual plaything with five supernatural studs of varying, voracious sexual appetites?

This doesn’t have much of a plot and there’s minimal character development, but it does have loads of sex. Sybil and her quintet of paranormal paramours (a surly, brooding, tortured alpha werewolf, a flirtatious, jovial dragon with a tale that can do all kinds of kinky, naughty things, a devilishly sexy chaos demon with retractable black wings, a stoic two-thousand-year-old Roman centurion vampire, and an ethereal, elfin fae god with a proclivity for domination, bondage, and punishment) engage in a variety of sexual escapades and excesses: anal, voyeurism, exhibitionism, ménage, and mild BDSM play. Of course, even though she has to sexually submit to all five guardians (individually and together when requested), only one can ultimately claim Sybil as their mate, and you can probably guess from the book’s title (no spoiler warning necessary here) which immortal warrior wins that coveted spot?

So if you’re in the mood for an uncomplicated paranormal erotic romance that doesn’t have much depth but does have plenty of steamy sex, then this story of a nympho witch ‘getting it on’ hot and heavy with five supernatural, immortal hunks might be a “good read” for you. 3 ½ stars.

I was mentally exhausted while reading this book. There is a story in this book but the story is wrapped around Sybil having sex, lots and lots of sex with 5 beasts, I mean men over 5 days. Did I mention she has lots and lots of sex? After reading Animal Attraction by Teglia, I am starting to see a pattern here. Sex, lots of it, with lots of men over a very short period of time. Hmmmm... doesn't sound bad to me.

So. What do I think of this book then. Oh my. Where do I start?? I guess I'll start by saying it's pretty well written. No awkward grammar or sentence structures. Well, almost none. A book that is well written, no matter how dumb I think it is, automatically rates higher on my scale of 1 to 5.

Plot. Wow. I guess it can be discussed whether the plot is good or bad, or even there at all. Because this book is one huge orgy with a basic plot at the beginning to lead into the orgy, and a little bit of plot to wrap the story up nicely. Though, the book ends on the biggest orgy of them all, with six "people" in the bed. Yeah.

This book is just so cheesy with all the orgies, that I couldn't help but love it. The cheesiness that is. But rather than being plot driven, or having solid characters, it's all a huge multiple menage fantasy. You have a witch that hooks up for 24 hours each, with a wolf/shapeshifter, a dragon/shapeshifter, a demon, a vamp, and a fey. One on one is a given with everyone, but it is mixed up with threesomes and foursomes and voyeurism/exhibitionism. You even get some tail (!) action in there. No joke.

All this orgy going on non-stop gets tiring after a while. It quickly goes from sexy to just plain weird. I had to skim through large chunks of all this porn. At times it was borderline bestiality. So a little bit of almost ick going on.

When I got about 4/5th through the book, I was ready to flounce. But I wanted to see how the "plot" was wrapped up, so I powered through. Almost wish I hadn't. There wasn't much plot to speak of, and that final 6 person-orgy at the end was just...meh. Oh, and it's only the girl that gets all the attention here, no boy on boy action. At all. Not even any boy on boy flirting to break things up a little.

Apparently all this author writes is erotica, and having read Claimed by the Wolf, does not tempt to read anything else by this author. When it gets to be too much of a good thing, it becomes work to read it, and I read because I want to escape, to be entertained, without having to think too much about it. (If this last part made any sense to anyone but me, I'll be surprised. LOL)

I didn't like this book at all!!!! So disappointing. I was looking forward to reading something interesting when I picked this up but really it was gross!!! ;( So the main character, Sybil, she's a witch and she gets into some trouble with a dark book. That's where the five guardians of the gate come in. They are supposed to keep the book out of the hands of evil but didn't know where it was until now.

The dark book has a mind of it's own and buries all of it's dark spells and magic into Sybil. The guardians now have to watch out for her but the thing is she can't control the magic. But there is a way,.....she can become immortal like the guardians. In order to do that she needs to get the mark of the goddess for whom the guardians work for. So she says yes to the mark. Now wait for it.......to get the mark she has to have sex with all FIVE of the guardians. I mean can you say gross!

I understand some people might be into that but that is gross.! BLahhh! ;( I hated the ending. She loves all of them but she is in love with Kenrick the wolf. So, she ends up being his mate and his wife as well as being a junior wife to all the others!!!! WHAT THE FUCK! (mind my language but seriously....come on)!

This book was not at all romantic in any way and every single good fighting scene ends up with her having sex with one of the guys! I didn't like that at all. I mean where's the romance in that!? I am pissed as hell cause I really was looking forward to the book! What a waste of my money!

In my opinion, there was way too much sex for my liking (like every single page). Now don't get me wrong sure I like romance in my reading but not a freaking porno book! It was gross. I am just surprised I finished! Also, although some might think Sybil had to sleep with them, she was given a choice and could have said no! She acted like a slut and kept on repeating how much she hated it when in head she kept on saying she wanted more! PISSED, PISSED, PISSED!!!!!! I honestly don't think I will read any other book in the series, if ever one comes out.

Sybil is a fledgling witch who happens upon a book that opens the gate to the shadow realms. Since the magic is far too strong for her to handle, she calls for the aid of the goddess, Inanna. In walks Kenric, a wolf shifter, who is one of the five Shadow Guardians. To save Sybil, he takes her back to Xanadu where Sybil is told that since she threw herself on the goddess's mercy, she will have to accept her mark and serve the goddess. Well, serving the goddess Inanna, who is a goddess of sex, means she has to have sex with each of the five guardians. Holy hell, and does she ever! There is Kadar, the dragon man; Abaran, the demon; Adrian, the vampire; and Ronan, a fae. This book totally blew my mind and gives new meaning to "share and share alike" - lol. There was so much sex and so many different combos of sex that I lost count (M/F/M, foursomes, etc ). If you are looking for a book with sex so hot, it will make you want take up residence in a walk-in freezer, this is the book for you. This is my second Charlene Teglia book and while it was over the top kinky, I did enjoy the story more than I did Wicked Hot Wicked Hot by Charlene Teglia .

WTF?
No plot, no ... nothing, except sex, sex, sex. With 5 guys!
I have nothing against erotica, or porn (in this case), but don't sell it as some mate-bonding romance, please!

WHEW!!! This one had me blushing basically through the entire book. The plot was simple, quite uncomplicated considering the dangers surrounding it. But the guardians are all HOT!!!!!!!!!!! I must tip my hat to Sybil because I know I could not have handled all five of these guys on my best juggling days! LOL

The only reason I give this one 3 stars is because it just doesn't sit well with me if a man claims a woman for his mate, for him to be okay, more than okay, with his fellow Brothers sharing her equally. Although hot and obviously all of them cared a great deal for Sybil, even treated her as their treasured Queen, it still seems just degrading to be shared in this capacity when a commitment has been established.

Plus I was a bit smitten not with Kenric (the alpha wolf) but with Kadar (the dragon) dude was FINE!! If you are looking for an erotic read with a bit of suspense, then I would recommend this read.

While I liked this book, I did have some problems with it. The first was Sybil's easy acceptance of her fate, sex with 5 men who are strangers and then to be tied to all of them for life. With each man getting to spend 24 hours with her, then to hand her off to the next, it made for the straight 100 or so pages of sex scenes make sense, but did give me pause. What woman could handle that, not be incredibility sore and able to walk, but I digress.

I really liked how each of the men were so different, from their species to their personalities. Each of them treated Sybil so different, but that was part of the fun.

I also expected the ending, the hints were very obvious.

I do look forward to reading more in this series, because even with my issues it was enjoyable to read.

Ms. Teglia is new to me, recommended by one of the goodreads groups as April '11 BOM. I was a bit skeptical to read this book. I ended up enjoying it a lot. The narration was fun from Sybil's point of view. The five studly men she sleeps with turned me on. Each of the men had their unique sexual kink. While the premise of the story was rather weak and the characters weren't fully developed, I still enjoyed the sex scenes so much, I'm ranking it a 4 star. I'm even going to look for other books by this author.

This book was just not for me. I am ok with lots of sex and ok with shifter sex of all kinds what I am not really ok with is really no character development and I felt like I was reading an excerp from play girl fantasies. Just not for me I need to like the characters I am reading about .

I was pleasantly surprised to find some humor in this book: dragon with the sense of humor. As expected, the 80% of the book were sex scenes and I had to skip some – too repetitive

If you're looking for a book filled with mythical sex, this is it!! While the book is beautifully and skillfully written, it is overshadowed by the amount of sex in it. Don't get me wrong, I love the amount of sex with each Guardian, and the polyamorous aspect of it. However, the book would have been spot on if there was more to the PLOT. In the beginning she's immediately outed as a witch, she's immediately thrown into the mix of the Shadow Guardians. I would have appreciated a little more back story, and more effort put into the entrance of the novel. Instead it jumps right into what she needs to do to seal the gate, and the sex. The plot outside of the sex seems like it was something that could have been a terrifying adventure. With more emotion and sense of danger between her coven and the demons. I believe itf the author simply ADDED more to the actual plot, thus making the book longer, it would have been an absolutely perfect mixture between fantasy and sexual desires. The author did an amazing job making each Shadow Guardian different in their own way, and making each sexual encounter a whole different experience. A little more with Ronan and Adrian would have been lovely. I feel that after Kenric, Kadar, and Adaran, the time spent between the remaining Guardians were cut short and not enough was put into those sexual encounters. Introducing Ronan as a sadomasochistic daoine sidhe really got me excited as I am a submissive myself. However, besides the mild caning and spanking, there wasn't much of a BDSM presence as I would have liked. Also, as Sybil is Kenric's mate, I did not feel enough emotion between them. I didn't feel enough longing for her mate, or vise versa. As someone who's read plenty of werewolf novels, I know the intensity that comes with having a mate. Feeling their emotions, hearing their thoughts, longing to be near them. There wasn't enough of that.

Overall the book was beautifully written and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Years back I read it solely for the sex. As an adult who loves fantasy and anything regarding mythical creatures, I found this book to suit more needs than just my sexual desires. This book was absolutely amazing. If anything, the sex keeps you hooked. I recommend this book to anyone who's old enough to read such explicit content, and those who enjoy mythical creatures such as vampires, werewolves, demons, fae, and dragons.

Claimed by the Wolf is about Sybil, who is a witch. She accidentally unleashes a dangerous book of spells that threatens opening the gates between the demon dimension and the human world. In order to prevent this terrible fate, she must join the Shadow Guardians: Kenric (werewolf), Kadar (dragon-shifter), Adrian (vampire), Abaran (demon), and Ronan (fae). The only catch? Well, she kind of has to "bind" herself to all five of them...by getting it on! Bow-chicka-bow-wow.

I know, you're totally picturing a really cheesy bad porno setup (you know, like with the pool guy or the pizza guy) and the absolutely awful background music. But if you've ever fantasized about, oh say, having all the BDB brothers or all the LOTU guys completely to yourself, then you'll like this one. ;) It's chocked full of mindless sex and not much more. lol The "story" isn't really much of a story, only something in order to give reasoning behind more mindless sex. But, I was totally fine with that because I went into it expecting an erotica, not a PNR or UF. So don't read this if you're looking for lots of romance or an actual story, but if you're looking for lots of sex then this one's definitely got that.

A couple things I really did like were Sybil. Despite being a sex machine, she had a personality and that's always a good thing. There were actually a few times I laughed out loud. Probably because I didn't expect any humor at all, but there were a few moments which was fun. I really liked Kadar, he was just a really cool character. I actually liked all five of the guys. I felt like we didn't get enough of Adrian and Ronan though. Their times with her were kind of cut short it seemed. But I still liked what we did get.

Overall if you're looking for something really hot and steamy, you like menage erotica, and you like paranormal romance, then you'll probably really enjoy this. The sex could probably have been hotter. It was there, but not as graphic as I was expecting. Perhaps I'm just being picky though. Still, lots of hot paranormal menage goodness! lol

Who knew that an erotic PNR wherein a witch must repeatedly have sex with five immortal warriors (a werewolf, a demon, a vampire, a sidhe, and a dragon-shifter) as part of a magic ritual to serve Inanna to save the world from demons could be so BORING? Just lots of thrusting and orgasming from barely a touch. Repeatedly. And it says something about how jaded I've become that the BDSM (or, I should say, "BDSM") scenes seemed so mild and, again, BORING. It's partially the way it's written--lots of sentences like "His heated male flesh met soft feminine surrender" (referring to genitalia) or "Flesh mated" (again, referring to genitalia). At least it was all consensual. And, for once in erotica, there wasn't anything all that offensive or horrifying or dehumanizing or rapey. Which shouldn't be saying a lot in this book's favor, but in this genre, it absolutely is. So I must tip my hat to the author for that. Although, I feel like this book is like, "Look at me! Look how kinky I am!" with all the shifter sex involving barbed members and tails, while I, the jaded romance reader, am just bored. If you haven't read any fantasy or sci-fi erotica, this would be a better place to start than most, since, as I said, it's mostly mild and inoffensive. Compared to what else is out there, anyway.

Anyway. Boring, completely unromantic, unintentionally hilarious softcore porn. And thus, I'll continue on my seemingly impossible quest for decent erotica elsewhere.

Upon reading this book, You should accept the premise that this is an erotic fantasy, not necessarily a novel with character arcs or any added literary value. The draft of the story is compelling, and I suppose it delivers to its promise, but in my opinion, it has a few weak points that shatters its intent. First of all, magic that solves any problems because its MAGIC kind of spoils it for me. I also feel the content would benefit from more filling in the storyline. The way it is, it presents as "tiny bit of story, 250 pages sex-scene, tiny bit of story, the end."In addition I found the constant mentioning of nerve endings, womb entrances and anal passages way too clinical. And it really disturbed me that during the week or so the story lasts for, everything is described to detail, and only ONE meal is mentioned, and that is on the second last page. It also feels as if the author rushes towards the end. As if she gets bored when she gets past the first three immortal lovers and then just skip hops through the last two. That said, the ending is cute and lovable, and I DID like the dragon.

Originally posted at Butterfly-o-Meter Books on Aug 8 2011:

Just looking at the cover, what does it make you think of? I mean, aside the normal “mm, hunk, tattoo, yummy” part You know what it made me think of? Gena Showalter‘s Lords of the Underworld series, am I right? By the way, one of these days I’ll post my thoughts on that as well, I was hoping I’d be able to postpone that until the last novel would be published, but since it’s gonna be a while and there’ll be a few novels in the series coming out, I’ll just go ahead and post my review of the ones I’ve read up to date (meaning all of them ). But don’t let me get sidetracked, we’re talking about Claimed by the Wolf here.
I don’t mean anything mean by the cover similarity, it’s just one more example of the “covers phenomenon” that I’ve seen takes place. Some “pattern” of covers gets a lot of thumbs up, as a result a lot of books specifically from the same genre begin looking like they’re relatives, resembling each other. Don’t make that face at me, I know you’ve noticed. There are “trends”, like the stud-muffin with sculpted abs (often not showing faces at all, at times showing some face too), or the gorgeous chick (often in a very elegant gown), or the flowers (various takes on color, species, settings) and so on. I guess it’s a formula that works, so a lot of people tend to apply it. But I think the visually appealing effect wears off very quick, there’s such a thing as desensitizing the audience. Never mind, this is another tangent.

Ok, so, the cover looks yummy. Fact. Dark and sexy and all; maybe not so much original, but yummy no doubt. On to the content.
I was really getting into it, after the first pages of the first chapter. It looked very, very promising, curses, witches, all kinds of supernatural beings, stud-muffins, the works. Very, very promising.

One thing is for sure, Charlene Teglia knows how to make her readers chuckle. With heated content, that’s not always easy, but she does it and seems to do it effortlessly. Her writing style is very entertaining, easy to follow, fun, full of suggestive imagery. On the writing itself, it could easily be a 5 out of 5. I’d love to read something written by her other then erotica, because it feels to me like she could pull of some YA, for instance, with stellar success.

Her characters are really charismatic, and quite strong, considering we’re focusing on the one on one (though many on many in cases…) action. They’re quite intense, and I like that a lot. They’re also hard to dislike, which says a lot about the way she builds them; I mean by that, she has the acute skill of building you a picture you’ll find it hard to dislike. Of course, one can also think she doesn’t linger on the characters enough to bring up the dislike-able traits.

The plot was well thought out; it had a clear, consistent direction, and there was some battle action as well as couple-action (Can I call it that? Meh…). I will say though there could have been a lot more development of the plot, and it would have permitted it quite well, because it was well thought out. However, the author chose not to go too in-depth with it.
Instead, she went very in-depth with the sex, no pun intended. There’s all sort of sex going on in this novel; the one on one, possessive kind, the slightly (very slightly, by my standards) power-play kind, threesomes, moresomes, voyeurism, all sorts. There’s also emotional involvement, which I found a bit disturbing, I’m sorry to say. Let me explain that.

Sybil has to go through 5 lovers to get the mark of this war slash sex goddess, in order to undo the harm she unwittingly does opening one of the gateways between the human world and the realm of shadows, demons and the likes. I’m not spoiling anything, the book blurb says as much The blurb, however, had me thinking this is going to be a Sybil/Kenric pair, hence the erotic content, I mean, an apprentice witch and an alpha – that’s pretty obvious to be a world of fun. But reading though, I found that while the more emotional couple consists of them, it’s more like a 6 ways relationship with the other guardians, and that’s the part that I found somewhat disturbing. Of course, this might also have to do with the fact that despite my broad likes, multiple partners is not something I’m into reading.
The ease, or more like pleasure, with which Sybil goes through these 5 lovers, and then keeps them as lovers, to all their mutual pleasure, sort of made me lose interest, really. The sex was hot, but it also seemed shallow; and of course it would seem that way to me, intimacy is not something I associate with multiple partners. Please keep in mind I’m not saying it can’t be intimate, or that it isn’t an awesome thing to have or to do if you’re into it, I’m just saying for me it’s not doing it.

I did very much like the fact that each of the 5 guardians had their own flavor, their own brand of fun. One of them was (or was supposed to be) very much so into power-play, BDSM-ish, and I was sort of looking forward to that part of Sybil’s adventures, but it proved disappointing to me. There wasn’t much dominating going on, aside a light spank and some playing around. Again, of course, that would seem so to me, as I associate real power-play with a deep emotional connection, and it couldn’t have happened in a 24 hours affair, the fifth in a row.

Over all, there was a lot of sex, and I mean a lot, enough plot, and a lot of fun going on. As it wasn’t exactly my brand of fun, I find I enjoyed reading it more then I would have expected. So if you’re into moresomes, and hot sex with supernatural hunks, this is the novel for you. Give it a try, see for yourself.

So this is actually just an erotica lol 😂 the story is literally nonexistent really and it truly just is spice and tons of it. If that’s what you’re after, then this will scratch that itch. I removed a star because I thought it was going to be more of a shifter romance but she actually was shared between five men of all different species of fae and vampires and all the fantasy stuff. But the book was so well written, I couldn’t take that away from the rating. Anyways, swords do NOT cross. It is simply always about her. I’ll read more by this author when I’m in a very spicy mood lol

This book has so much sex in it it’s almost too much. Almost. The spicy scenes are great, but there is no plot really, and couldn’t help but cringe a few times at what characters said or how they acted. If you want a book of sex with basically no story line, this one’s for you.

Soo this book was borrowed to me by a friend because I told her I was into fantasy, romance and smut this book was not in the fantasy genre for me but purely smut, no world building, barely any plot, if any, basically a young witch finds an evil magical book created by demons and this werewolf who guards the worlds finds her and helps, brings her to his world where he sees that she is stressed and they hook up immediately without any real conversation, no character building whatsoever, no relationship building it is nonexistent at this point.

The main fmc is told that if she is to be helped and freed of this evil book or learn to control it, she is to have sex with 5 of the men in this book within 5 days they all have 24 hours with her each, the werewolf, The dragon, the vampire, The demon, and a fae so they can mark her with a symbol. After that there is nothing important till the very end where we finally learn that her coven is the overall villain and you hear nothing about them in the whole book, the end battle was three sentences, okay to be fair two paragraphs and she does barely anything to defeat them.

This book could have had so much potential had the author added some of the plot, maybe even a little world building, character and relationship building, some more about each of the characters.
I don't recommend this if you're looking for plot but if you're looking for smut this could work.

I'm not sure how I stumbled onto this book, but most things involving werewolves will usually catch my attention. This book follows the young apprentice witch, Sybil. After buying an old spell book at an estate sale, she unwittingly opens a gate into the demon world and releases a large number of them. While trying to rid herself of the book, it links itself with her mind and flesh to become part of her. Now to stop the hordes of demons and a coven of witches from taking over, she must join forces with the Shadow Guardians—an elite force put together by the goddess Inanna. However, in order to receive the goddess' mark, she must give herself to each Shadow Guardian for 24 hours.

This book is completely about the sexual relationship between Sybil and each of these men—Kenric (the werewolf), Kadar (the dragon), Ronan (the sidhe), Adrian (vampire), and Abaran (demon). There is plenty of group sex, anal, and very mild BDSM. While there is a story, it seems to be more of a vehicle for the sex. If you pick this book up for anything other than erotica, you will be sorely, sorely disappointed. That being said, the story that was there was rather interesting; however, I wish the author had spent a little more time with it. It seemed too easy for Sybil to single-handedly save Abaran, stop the coven, and seal the gate. Even though she was much more powerful after the book bound itself to her, it still felt a little too easy to wrap the book up the way the author did.

I loved that Sybil had a personality outside of being a receptacle for semen and an object for sexual gratification. She really struggled with the consequences of giving herself fully over to these men, what it meant to contain demon magic, and so on. Further, the humor was absolutely a stitch! Kadar had me roaring with laughter on several occasions, and I just adored his character. Honestly, I found myself wishing she would end up with him. That being said, I was sad that the time spent with Ronan and Adrian was cut short. I would have liked to see the time spent with them given as much time as Kenric, Kadar, and Abaran.

The author dropped little tidbits of information that gave the book a different type of depth. When she started talking about knotting, I thought that was extremely interesting. Even though I know wolves do it, I never would have guessed that a werewolf might experience the same thing. It shows that the author definitely put some thought into her book beyond sex.

If you're looking for something beyond paranormal romance and urban fantasy, this book might be up your alley. However, in comparison to some books on the market, the sex in this is rather mild.
