A good solid adventure story with hints of Buchan and Wheatley about it.
Michael Scott is sent to Mull to help discover why Ruth Lorimer drowned herself. Scott is soon sucked into a web of deceit, parapsychology and the occult.
The book cracks along throughout its 184 pages. Scott is a sympathetic character who has a fortunate knack of accidentally surrounding himself with beautiful young women - a little wish-fulfilment on Professor Roy's part, methinks.
Very 1970s but the descriptions of beautiful Mull are timeless.
This is the second of Archie Roy's books I've read and, while they are of their time, they are also very different. Looking forward to the next one.
