A quick and not demanding book to read in between the heavy ones. Written in 1984, it's probably full of misguided cultural assumptions, but I enjoyed reading about the six months that a young Nepalese Sherpa spent in the Connecticut home of two trekkers for whom he had been a guide. He's bright, a quick study, occasionally funny and always quirky.

Read it if you want some lightness in your life.

The author and her husband bring a Nima, a Sherpa guide, to the US in the late 70's for treatment for TB, to learn English, and learn some first aide. Nineteen-year old Nima, is eager to learn and sees Western culture through the lens of his Sherpa culture. Humorous, easy reading.

Cute story about a Sherpa who is sponsored by 2 Americans to help him recover from TB. Adjusting to the 20th century from a very different environment is insightfull and enlightening.
