Alicia Davidson had always been told that the loss of her memory and the scar she carried on her beautiful face were the results of a childhood fall. Her despair is broken by a glimmer of hope: the sister she lost so long ago may be alive. And only one man can help Alicia find her ...
BUT IT MAY FORGIVE ...

And together, they begin to heal ... but will their different dreams tear them apart?
International bestselling author Michelle Beattie has been writing since 1995. She sold her first book, What a Pirate Desires, in 2007.
Since then she finished her 5 book pirate series, wrote a well-received historical western series and is currently writing a contemporary romance series.
Despite the genre, you'll find Michelle likes to write about strong women and characters that'll linger in your heart long after the book is done.
Not a bad read but not super engrossing for me. I liked that the heroine started out strong and atypical - but it seemed like all the usual stereotypes were in force by the end of the book.
i found all 5 books in this series well written and followed the same format. witty dialog, good characters, story you can cruise along with and the romance piece balanced. a few hot kisses, about 70% mark first love making scene and a few afterwards towards the last 30% (not as detailed ). i read the last book first and found that it was much better reading a second time after reading the first 4 books in their order (would recommend others to read the series in order, believe it would be more enjoyable). 4 out of 5
Alicia is a blacksmith on a Caribbean island, in a shop she inherited from her father. She is left a note from her recently dead father that she has a sister, Samantha, and was found on the island at the age of 12. Alicia is determined to find Sam, but so is the evil son of the evil plantation owner who took in Sam after their ship was attacked and wrecked by pirates. Alicia stows away on a ship to find her. Or something. Anyway, she meets Blake Merritt - and gasp! They have more in common than they thought and must uncoil the family bonds as best they can. They are also in danger and argue about whether to live on the ship or in the blacksmith shop (flimsy conflict). All the solid romance elements are in place, it is just set in the islands and they sail. Not earth shattering, but not terrible either.
Alicia Davidson, seeking to find her long-lost sister, stows away aboard Blake Merritt’s ship in the Caribbean. When the privateer discovers her, he banishes her to his cabin, resolving not to be swayed by her beauty. Nonetheless, he ends up aiding her in her quest. Old enemies resurface to threaten their blooming relationship. Can Blake let go of the past and embrace his future before he loses Alicia’s regard?
Pretty good pirate read. I know that I'll be giving this away on bookswap because I can't find the first book.
You don't have to read the first book before you read this one but I highly recommend that you do "What a Pirate Desires" sets up the reason for Alicia getting on the ship in the first place.
A very typical pirate tale. Alicia disguises herself as a boy and stows-away on Blake's pirate ship because he refuses to help her find her sister. Alicia and Blake fall in love amidst pirate attacks. Blake won't leave the sea and Alicia can't leave the land, they split and are miserable. Well you get the picture. Not bad but not great either.
