This is an excellent resource to begin to understand the complexities of the Ojibwe dialects and their relationship to eachother and to English. Naturally, the two languages are difficult to express in relation to one another, however this dictionary begins to find an effective way to deliver meaning without obscuring important grammar differences. As is often the case when translating outside of close language families, a dictionary is not an effective tool for anyone without considerable experience in dealing with the host and target languages. Because of this, the dictionary can seem incomplete at times. A "Concise Grammar" or "Introduction to Ojibwe" by the same author would no doubt be another phenomenal resource that could help to fill in the blanks.
