In Treasure Trouble, Nancy, George, and Bess are headed to Barnacle Beach for a pirate-themed birthday party. But when the treasure chest filled with party favors disappears, playtime is over. With the help of a mysterious treasure map, the Clue Crew needs to reclaim the missing loot before the party’s completely ruined. In Double Take, the Clue Crew has competition—one of their classmates has started a rival sleuthing club! Can Nancy and the girls solve the latest case before the phony detectives do?
Carolyn Keene is a writer pen name that was used by many different people- both men and women- over the years. The company that was the creator of the Nancy Drew series, the Stratemeyer Syndicate, hired a variety of writers. For Nancy Drew, the writers used the pseudonym Carolyn Keene to assure anonymity of the creator.
Edna and Harriet Stratemeyer inherited the company from their father Edward Stratemeyer. Edna contributed 10 plot outlines before passing the reins to her sister Harriet. It was Mildred Benson (aka: Mildred A. Wirt), who breathed such a feisty spirit into Nancy's character. Mildred wrote 23 of the original 30 Nancy Drew Mystery Stories®, including the first three. It was her characterization that helped make Nancy an instant hit. The Stratemeyer Syndicate's devotion to the series over the years under the reins of Harriet Stratemeyer Adams helped to keep the series alive and on store shelves for each succeeding generation of girls and boys. In 1959, Harriet, along with several writers, began a 25-year project to revise the earlier Carolyn Keene novels. The Nancy Drew books were condensed, racial stereotypes were removed, and the language was updated. In a few cases, outdated plots were completely rewritten.
Other writers of Nancy Drew volumes include Harriet herself, she wrote most of the series after Mildred quit writing for the Syndicate and in 1959 began a revision of the first 34 texts. The role of the writer of "Carolyn Keene" passed temporarily to Walter Karig who wrote three novels during the Great Depression. Also contributing to Nancy Drew's prolific existence were Leslie McFarlane, James Duncan Lawrence, Nancy Axelrod, Priscilla Doll, Charles Strong, Alma Sasse, Wilhelmina Rankin, George Waller Jr., and Margaret Scherf.
This is another very cute book in the Nancy Drew Mystery series for kids. Nancy and her crew are on the case of a missing Lulu Rapport sweatshirt, but they have some competition. Some other girls at school have developed another crime solving team called the Klue Krew. Who will solve the case first?
I recently read this book to a group of second graders and found myself impressed. This is a good series starter for any future nancy fans. The book includes great vocabulary for the age group, along with realistic mysteries and outcomes. It allows the students to infer and use different reading strategies more than other books in their age group. I would rec. this book for any young reader.
3.5 stars. I liked this book, but the kids are definitely getting snottier in the series. Deirdre and her crew decide to start a Klue Krew with K's and they want to beat Nancy and her crew in solving the mystery of a missing sweatshirt. One of their mutual friends/classmates got a highly sought after sweatshirt from a celebrity and then it goes missing in gym class. The girls are rude and snotty, but its not awful. Hopefully the series doesn't continue to go downhill.
When a friend at school loses her favorite sweatshirt, Nancy Drew and the Clue Crew offer to help find it. But a NEW "Klue Krew" offers to help too. The two crews have a competition for who will be the official Crew.
I thought that the book was amazing and had a lot of exciting moments like when Nancy said that she knew where the Lula Rappaport hoodie was. It made you want to read more. But as a 4th grader it was a little too short for me. In all it was a great book. Slay!!!
great book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I borowed this book from Mariane and I have a book from this series but I never red my book. We started playing something and in he game we needed a book and I chose this one Very interesting. This book encouraged me to read my book.
A girl named April Funk is going to hold an April's Fool party with pranks and the kids to bring pranks with them. The one with the best prank will win a prize.
Bess is shown to be centered on fashion and George on computers, although sometimes it's Bess who is good on computers.
Sydney is very smart but also very nasty. She was April's best friend but is no longer. She crashes the party anyhow. Two other girls are Miranda and Heidi who are both ultra-snobbish.
The mystery happens when Miranda's cell phone goes missing and a gamer console goes missing. Both items belong to the two girls. April's younger brothers are also there and they are long on mischief so they become suspects. The trophy is stolen, also. However, of the three items missing, not all are necessarily stolen. There's a very cute ending to the story.
This is another fun mystery in the Nancy Drew and the Clue Crew series. We've been slowly working our way through the series and we like the characters. The mysteries are not scary and they aren't too difficult to solve; they often have a twist or two in the plot to keep us guessing, so I am actually somewhat impressed with the writing (especially for a short chapter book for young readers.) The illustrations are entertaining and help depict the action of the story.
This story focuses on a missing hoodie and competition from another detective club. The story is a bit silly, but entertaining nonetheless. We enjoyed reading this story together.
I thought this book was a "GoodRead" Ha Ha! It is full of drama and of course CLUES! Anyone who thinks they have detective skills should check this series out. Can you solve this mystery before the "Klue Krew" who are total copycats of the "Clue Crew"? Sounds a little weird right? Read this book to find out the gossip-worthy details!
This book is about competition among classmates. It made me laugh because they named their selves the same thing only changed the first letters. This is something a 3rd or 4th grader would do so this would be perfect to have in the classroom It would be important to teach the kids that competition is good but not to let it get out of hand.
