Many of the book's pleas for scientific policy seem to still apply today.

The title is a bit misleading. The book discusses the significant areas of the United States system (economics, education, etc.) that need to be fixed. It discusses to some degree the science that will help to repair them, but the majority of the book is pointing out truths that the vast population (including me) is unaware of. It is a book that will awaken the American population to the changes that must come, and to the pitfalls of the American system. For that reason I would recommend reading it.
