When the Buddha Met Bubba is the heart-warming story of Billy Bob (Bubba) Coker, a redneck who reached rock bottom, until a freak head injury results in the appearance of his own personal Buddha. From that moment forward, Bubba is led on a humorous journey of introspection through the backwoods of the deep South and through his own flawed preconceptions and relationships. I loved Bubba's voice and I liked the idea of a total Southern redneck like Bubba meeting up with the Buddha and being forced to take this journey into enlightenment. Unfortunately by the end of the book I felt like not only had Bubba learned too many lessons, so had I. The book stopped being fun for me and started being didactic, and frankly, the ending wrapped up a little too neatly and unrealistically.
