I’ll be thinking about this series for a long time. Literally so many great tropes, a strong cast of characters, and a neat storyline. Think Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants but with a car. I’d give this book an infinite amount of stars if I could.

A book you won’t soon forget!
The Runaways is essentially five different stories masterfully woven into one life-changing road trip. At its core, the story is about six teenagers who all ran away from home and found refuge together in a junkyard. The plot was very well executed as you read each story unfold in its own unique way. Favourite tropes? It’s got em!
The characters are lovable, raw and real. Their journeys make you laugh, cry and scream as you embark on this road trip in a Cadillac that has its own unique significance. The epilogues in each story as well and the final one tie the storyline together beautifully!

Absolutely loved this one. I love that she made it into one giant book because I was able to fall in love with her characters and experience a whole series of found family in one book. Devney sure knows how to write a contemporary romance with emotion, spice, romance and all the good feels.

Overall this was a really enjoyable omnibus of all 5 books in the Runaways series! I loved the road trip idea, and how each of them went on their own journey to find themselves, happiness and ultimately love.

This is the set up of the overall story, when Londyn decides that she wants to return her Cadillac to Karson.
Personally, this one was a little too instalust for me, although I realize it's sort of a novella so it has to move fast.
I also thought it was weird how he he adultifies (Is that the right word? ) his son, But overall it's sweet and swoony.

Definitely liked the last two stories better than the first three. This one I feel like had a cute spin on the workplace romance since Brody is Aria's sister's boss. And even though I say I hate fmcs who won't let the guy help them, it didn't hate it so much here? Although she was being really stupid about it 😂

This one is definitely my favorite of the five. And the only thing keeping it for being a five star is that and the second half is exclusively from Karson's point of view. It was a good way to switch things up and keep it interesting, but IDK I just didn't like it 😂 it's a fabulous wrap up to the overall story, and something about their relationship, just really got to me.
The epilogue to all the books made me cry lol, but it was essentially happy tears

Devney Perry is quickly making her way to my favorite authors list.
I seriously loved this book so much. It contains 5 different stories, following 6 teens who ran away and lived in a junkyard until they were 18. They moved on, created lives for themselves, but lost touch with each other.
Think sisterhood of the traveling pants, but instead of the pants taking them on adventures/helping them find love, it’s a car that was restored from the junkyard they all called home.

I really enjoyed this series. I loved the concept of the car taking them each on their own journey and bringing these runaways back together too.
Each story has its own bit of heartbreak but the way they find happiness is beautiful. They were are super easy quick reads that I couldn’t put down.

Before I went to Readers on the River in September, I wanted to read a Devney Perry book, and downloaded the entire series of The Runaways , which includes the books Runaway Road, Wild Highway, Quarter Miles, Forsaken Trail, and Dotted Lines. I reviewed Runaway Road right away, but I quickly came back to the series and gobbled up the next four. At 29.5 hours, that’s worth one credit, wouldn’t you say?
The books are all connected in that the main characters from each book were all runaways living in a junkyard in Southern California when they were kids. In Runaway Road , the first in the series, Londyn sets off to bring the Cadillac she had restored that she used to live in across the country back to Karson who shared the car with her at the junkyard. She got waylaid on the way and met the love of her life, Brooks, on the way. Runaway Road featured a single dad, a road trip, and some small-town instalove.
Wild Highway was the second in the series. Gemma picked up the car from Londyn to bring to Karson, but she took a detour to the hotel she used to work at in Montana to visit one of the other runaways, Katherine, who still works there. So does Easton, who hates her after she just up and left them all years earlier. But does he really? They may have started out hating each other, but it was pretty obvious there was way more going on. Wild Highway was an enemies-to-lovers, second-chance, small-town cowboy book.
In Quarter Miles it was Katherine’s turn to take the car. Katherine has worked for the Greers and their hotel since she was a young runaway. She has been in love with Cash Greer the whole time, but she has always been in the friend zone. When she impulsively decides to take some time off to take a road trip to bring the Caddy to Karson, Cash insists on coming along. Secrets came out and this unrequited love story became a best friends-to-lovers road trip romance.
Aria St. James is the next to take the car in Forsaken Trail , but first, she is visiting her sister and her son in Arizona, and the trip is timed perfectly for when her sister’s boss (whom she hates) is out of town. When he has to cancel his trip to go to a family wedding, he has no choice but to take Aria, the woman who he couldn’t stand, to be his date. Well, one thing led to another, and a few weeks later there was an accidental pregnancy that turned into more.
Dotted Lines was the perfect ending to an amazing series. Aria’s sister Clara and her son August take the Caddy to find Karson. There were a few more flashbacks in this one to Clara’s secret relationship with Karson, and it was time to find out if the sparks that she had held on to for 10 years were still burning. This book really tied up the series beautifully with a trip back to the junkyard. It was my favorite of the series, but so bittersweet to read because I knew the series was over. This single mom, second chance romance was super emotional and I loved it.

Each of the five books in The Runaways Series by Devney Perry are available to purchase on their own, but I loved how the Cadillac’s journey across the country tied each story together, it was so clever! I usually write my likes and dislikes here, but quite honestly, there was nothing I didn’t like. I will say that each story on its own would be a little light and short for me, but together they were just an amazing journey. So worth the 29.5 hours and only one credit!

I love Gemma’s and Easton’s story. Their angst and tension was wonderful because of how they left things so many years ago. Some of Mrs. Devney’s best angst might I add. Once they cross that line this time, Easton is so determined to be there for Gemma if she will give him a chance. I felt like Gemma’s history and tendency to run from things (I.E. Easton) was so heartbreaking. So many times I wanted to hug her. When she realized that she didn’t need to run anymore and she found the home she always wanted with Easton in Montana, cue the tears.

There is just something about friends to lovers that is so special to me, especially when they have been best friends for years. Best friends to lovers just hits differently then simply friends to lovers. My heart hurt for Kat so much because of how long she has loved Cash and waited for him to love her too. Not only was Kat overwhelmed with her feelings for Cash, but she struggled with feeling like she wouldn’t have a place with the Greer family anymore. In my opinion, that plot point was so significant because of Kat’s history that lead to her runaway and living in the junkyard when she was a teenager. Now, Cash being completely oblivious is annoying because…come on dude. But once he pulled his head out of his butt, he knew what he had to do to get his girl. All the feels were absolutely felt.

What a unique and good freaking book! I knew anything written by Devney Perry would be good, and this is no exception!
Londyn has nothing left to live for in Boston so she sets on her way to get back to California where she grew up. What she didn’t expect was Summers, WV and the handsome mechanic, Brooks Cohen.
Sometimes life leads you in mysterious ways; that the thing you think you want the most is actually what is causing you to run away.
I absolutely adored the unique pairing of Brooks and Londyn. Your heart just breaks for their childhood stories, but their adult life is what shows their perseverance. Highly highly highly recommend this runaway story!

Gemma Lane knew she needed to get away from Boston. It wasn’t fulfilling her anymore. So once she got done visiting her bestie Londyn, she decided to go on a little road trip. On her way to California with the Cadillac, she makes a detour to visit her friend Katherine in Montana. She knows she has to apologize for how she left Montana the last time. Not only apologizing to Katherine but all the Greer’s as well. She’s grossly unprepared for how poor Easton Greer treats her. She knew he wouldn’t like her after how she left, but she wasn’t ready for that amount of animosity.
Easton Greer never really got over the bombshell that is Gemma Lane. She came into his life and shook it like a snow globe the first time. He’s not about ready to let it happen again. Except fate (or grandma Carol) has other plans to keep the two together when and where she can.
Can Gemma stay in Montana and hope she can grow roots or does she feel the need to move on to California to get the Cadillac to Kason and find her new home?

On her quest to find Aria, she is going to set out with the Cadillac to Oregon. She has time off and no worries. She’s excited but nervous to hit the open road and is going to focus on finding herself. The be a new person that isn’t secretly pining for Cash. What she’s not expecting is Cash to insert himself into her road trip.
Their story is sweet, with some anguish involved that perfectly fits these two’s personalities and their happily ever after.

Aria and Brody’s chemistry is off the charts! You can cut through the seggy tension from the very beginning with their hate for one another.
I just loved overall the feels this book gave me. To finding out Aria and Clara’s past to also Brody’s past, while vastly different, were both still heartbreaking.
So when the surprise of their life happens, I absolutely adored how they handled it as a couple. They were mature, they didn’t hide from one another. And while Brody made a mistake, it was easily made right for them to find their happily ever after. Aria is the perfect match for Brody.

What a heartwarming and beautiful story. I had so many good tears in my eyes at the end. So. Dang. Beautiful. And THE perfect book to end the series.
Clara has overcome so much in her life thus far and continues to be a strong pillar to her son and her sister. When she’s the last one tasked to take the Cadillac to Karson, he drags her feet for reasons unknown to us throughout Aria’s story. When we finally get a glimpse into Clara’s mind, we realize why the trip was going to be so hard for her.
But now it’s time. She sets off to deliver the car with her son, to Karson. The glue that held all of the “runaway kids” together for all those years. She’s not sure what to expect and has been told to keep those expectations low.

What a unique and good freaking book! I knew anything written by Devney Perry would be good, and this is no exception!

Sometimes life leads you in mysterious ways; that the thing you think you want the most is actually what is causing you to run away.
I absolutely adored the unique pairing of Brooks and Londyn. Your heart just breaks for their childhood stories, but their adult life is what shows their perseverance. Highly highly highly recommend this runaway story!

I just loved overall the feels this book gave me. To finding out Aria and Clara’s past to also Brody’s past, while vastly different, were both still heartbreaking.
So when the surprise of their life happens, I absolutely adored how they handled it as a couple. They were mature, they didn’t hide from one another. And while Brody made a mistake, it was easily made right for them to find their happily ever after. Aria is the perfect match for Brody.

Clara has overcome so much in her life thus far and continues to be a strong pillar to her son and her sister. When she’s the last one tasked to take the Cadillac to Karson, he drags her feet for reasons unknown to us throughout Aria’s story. When we finally get a glimpse into Clara’s mind, we realize why the trip was going to be so hard for her.
But now it’s time. She sets off to deliver the car with her son, to Karson. The glue that held all of the “runaway kids” together for all those years. She’s not sure what to expect and has been told to keep those expectations low.

What a great start to this series, I loved Londyn and Brooks’ story so much. I also loved Wyatt’s part in their story too, he's a sweet kid with good intentions who goes about them the wrong way, but it was so perfect for the story. I am already loving where this is going and loving that the restored Cadillac has such a big part in the story. This one is short but sweet and its packed full from start to finish.

Gemma comes back to confront her past and right her wrongs and just so happens to run into Easton the boy she loved but got too afraid of those feelings. There is angst, there is tension and once they have that moment where the dam breaks lose, Easton is all in and ready to get back the girl he loves and I loved that so much. Gemma’s story so far in the series has been my favorite, she’s a runner, she has never felt a sense of security, of home and when things get too comfy that is hard for her so she runs. I wanted to hug her and tell her it’s okay to let yourself be loved. When she finally realizes that and finds the home in the people and place she always wanted, I couldn’t help but cry.

Their story felt real, it was raw, it was painful but oh so beautiful. I loved the flashbacks to the past of the two of them in the tent, it provided us an inside look into how they really came about. How even after years past why they still hold each other with such regard. And my goodness, you cannot forget the letters, they really brought me to tears. The epilogue was beautiful. I loved it all. This was perfect.

The book as whole gives you those feel good feelings, it is reminiscent of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, but this time its a classic car that saved each characters life during one of the hardest times in their lives. But also add a romance element to it and if you’ve got this book. I really enjoyed it, it was super unique and I think this is one that will stick with me for a long time. The audiobook features some of my favorite narrators, like Maxine Mitchell and Teddy Hamilton and honestly I'll never pass up the opportunity to hear them narrate. They bring characters to life in such a wonderful way.

The Runaways is a series by Devney Perry. Each of the main characters in this series ran away from home, for various reasons, and ended up living in a junkyard. They supported each other and helped each other. Once they turned 18, they left looking for their new life knowing that they had survived. The cool part is the passing of the old Cadillac.
Runaway Road is the first book in the series, where Londyn lived. She found Boston and ended up with a marriage to a wealthy man. However Londyn worked hard and earned her way. She found her husband with the other secretary and Londyn realized that she was in the wrong place. She leaves everything, gets into the Cadillac from the junkyard (fixed up), and leaves for California. Only she has an accident in West Virginia and needs to rely on hot garage man, Brooks Cohen. Londyn realizes so much about herself, but Brooks seems to be her person, maybe.

Aria and Brody both realize that the tension/hatred they have for each other is really passion, but of course nothing is that easy for either of them.
Dotted Lines is the final book in the Runaway Series by Devney Perry. Clara and her son August go on a road trip as the last leg of the trip to bring the Cadillac to Karson. It is during the trip that Clara has a flashback to the last few days at the junkyard when she found her love with Karson, before the sisters left. Clara finds Karson in California and spends a couple of days with him, but there are obstacles in finding out if they are still in love with each other.
Each book is a great stand alone romance, however together they tell a story of determination, grit, hope and finally love. I loved the Cadillac as being the vehicle (literally and figuratively) as the mode to move to the next story. In the last book there is a lovely wrap up which ties up a few loose ends. Devney Perry’s novels are a wonderful read!

beautiful unique series
I’m not sure how Devney Perry got inspired to write an entire series based on a restored cherry red Cadillac, but this was beautifully written. Each book tells the story of one of the 6 teenagers who left terrible home conditions and hid out in a junkyard until they turned 18 and moved on to the next chapter in their lives. Eleven years later, One of the girls buys and restores the old car after shipping it from California to Boston. She concocts a plan to drive it back to California and return it to the boy who helped her survive in the junkyard. But she doesn’t make it far before she meets her love. In turn, the car gets passed to each woman to return it to Karson, but each one ends up meeting their love and passing the car to someone else. It’s a clever thread connecting 5 women and 1 man eleven years after they’ve gone their own ways. Each story is unique, interesting, with an HEA. Each character went through their own trials and came out as strong and caring adults. I really enjoyed this series. In each book, we learn a little more about the junkyard years and Lou, the junkyard owner and recluse who provided a safe place for the kids to live. The series is buttoned up nicely in the last book with a great epilogue that gives us a look 23 years in the future and introduces us to the next generation.

This series was contemporary romance perfection! I can’t say enough good things about it. It was a beautiful story woven through interesting and lovable characters. It was funny, heartbreaking, heartwarming, and everything in between. I know everyone always talks about book boyfriends and this series is certainly not lacking- a sweet mechanic, a grumpy cowboy and his golden retriever brother, a stuck up billionaire with a secret heart of gold and a loving reformed bad boy. But the female characters are also strong, complicated and loving women and each couple just complimented each other so well.
Too often in contemporary romance we are *told* the characters are in love but Devney Perry has a gift for writing love stories that we, as the reader, get to actually experience.
And that last epilogue. It made me feel like these characters were real and brought tears to my eyes. Just a beautiful story about love and family.

This was romance magic for me. Six kids with traumatic childhoods who runaway to a junkyard. There they find Lou the junkyard owner who befriends them from a distance and years later they find out that he cared about them. Karson the rock who kept everyone alive and protected won a place in the hearts of these 5 girls. Londyn, one of the girls brings back to life an old Cadillac with many memories attached to it with the intention of gifting it to Karson. It eventually gets to him but on the way it performs romance magic for each member of the junkyard pack. These stories were sweet, hot and sexy. They left me feeling awesome.

Each book section follows one of the runaway teens a little over a decade after they left their old junkyard home. As they journey with an old restored car from that junkyard, each finds their way to a love and the home they have longed to have. This series will grab your heart. If you had a difficult childhood or parents, this will definitely hit you right in the gut at times. However, I do like seeing how each runaway works through their trauma and heals.

A very underrated series especially from Devney! 6 runaway teenagers that find each other and live together in a junkyard in California. They go their own ways to create a better life for each other when THE Cadillac brings them back together. Each book is about one of the 6 runaway telling their story how they ended up at the junkyard and life beyond it. I highly recommend reading these in order however not necessary. 10/10 recommend these books are on KU which makes it so easy to read but worth the buy. I have both 🫶

Um holy shit?? I loved it??? I saw it from a literal Facebook add and started it not knowing I was going to read 5 books in one. I literally finished it (all 5 of them lmao) in a weekend. After reading about each couples story, I was convinced I wasn’t going to like the next one as much, and then I was proved wrong. LOVE. I downloaded these on my kindle but I will be buying the physical copies of this series so I can loan to friends who are looking for things to get them into reading!

What an amazing story of how to rise out of the ashes and make your life one worth living. As my husband had a life kinda like these kids and turned out as well as the did ( we are NOT millionaires unfortunately though) the stories really hit home for me. Some get dealt a crap hand and give up or depend on others to make them happy and make a life. Others pull up their boot straps and get busy making a life worth living and I’m so thankful my husband was one of the latter ones. These stories really make you feel and think.

I love LOVE
Beautiful love stories of 6 runaways who lived in a junkyard until the age of maturity.
Watching them in alternating views as runaways and then finding their life partners and at the end, parents watching the next generation fall in love, was a beautiful thing
It got a little slow at the end and I know it's make believe but the insta-love could've used a little work, but I loved it nonetheless
