Because I’ve seen Marilyn in person at several Women of Faith conferences throughout the years I have much respect for her advice. This is a basic book. It’s not heavily doctrinal or theological which makes it a book you can easily read. It would be a good give away book to a friend that is struggling with trials. It’s meant for a Christian but I have good friends that are religious and I wouldn’t hesitate to give them this book because it points to Christ. Any Christian book that I read for enrichment and to improve my spiritual walk needs to be centered on Christ and the Gospel and not just a self help format since, as a Christian, I need to ultimately find my rest in Him. Good book.

Ya just gotta love Marilyn Meberg. She is one of my favorite Women of Faith speakers & so I hear "her voice" as I read. She is so wise, so funny, so real & so comforting. I wish I lived in her neighborhood & could invite her over for tea.

Her book begins by comparing thinking - human reasoning vs believing - having faith, confidence & trust in God's sovereign intent; then doing a roof-check on our thoughts, beliefs & responses to life's challenges. She shares my preference for "a life of ease, stability & perfection" but lives in the real world with the rest of us who at times find ourselves "in the eye of a storm that then crashes the roof." She encourages us to allow God to work His "soul enrichment" = "giving meaning" to evil/catastrophe. Following chapters then examine a selection of life's "cave-ins."

She concludes with a challenge to "thank God for your cave-in." I'll be working on that!

This book is such a good book. Literally, i would recommend it to anyone. It has such a great theme and mood to it and it's very inspirational. "When The Roof Caves In" is about many life challanges and struggles that people and even ourselves go through daily, weekly, monthly and even yearly. It is a christian book and contains many touching and neat bible verses. The women who wrote this book is obviously a great writer and i'm sure if she has written any other books they are very good and inspirational. If you are going through hard times or need advice when you feel like nothing is going right or the roof is caving in, then i'd recommend reading "When A Roof Caves In".

I always enjoy Marilyn at the Women Of Faith conferences. This book contains some of her best stories. It is also helpful if you are dealing with different issues in life. As a mother and a therapist she can shed light on how to best deal with lifes problems. Some of the chapters didn't pertain to me, so i skimmed them, but overall I think if you feel that your "roof" is caving in, this could be a good self help book.

I heard Marilyn Meberg at Women of Faith - she is hilarious but does a great job dealing with issues that women face. Her book is interesting, an easy read, and has some good tips for facing hard life issues, but not extremely deep.
