Imagine sitting across from your husband at your special birthday dinner. Excited, feeling the love and knowing your husband has something up his sleeve. When he slides you a piece of paper, you just know it’s a contract to his record label that you’ve been begging him for. You think he’s finally taking your music serious. Except, when you open the envelope, you see divorce papers.
That was Rayleigh Rae’s reality when her husband of two years asked for a divorce on her birthday. Rayleigh had been known throughout Hollywood as Tracy Rae’s wife. Being married to a top executive at a record label, you would think her dreams of being a singer would happen for her. Except, her husband has always held her back.
Being tossed on her ass without anything except her Benz, because of a terrible prenuptial agreement, Rayleigh finds herself back in Brooklyn, New York at her grandmother’s house. Trying to put the pieces together from her broken heart, Rayleigh finds herself broke and so far from her dreams of being a singer.
Jude Lux has always been into music. After releasing his first studio album under Blu House Records, he’s ready for something new. A new sound. While browsing YouTube he comes across Rayleigh Rae’s cover to one of his songs. Not only does her beauty capture him, but her voice mesmerizes him too. He knew one thing for sure, he had to have the beautiful Rayleigh Rae.
The story had so much to keep me wishing and hoping the epilogue would be sweet. The musical part of the story was perfect for the season. And the old saying,' One man's trash is another man's treasure,' was undoubtedly the truth in this one.
Jahquel J. gave us a story that blends love, music, and second chances in a way that feels both raw and hopeful. A reminder that sometimes the end of one chapter is the only way to start writing the one you were meant for.
Just wasn’t my cup of tea. I’m new to this author, only having read one of her previous books which I really liked. But this book was a no-go for me. It was boring. No real story or character development. Had some errors which I didn’t really care about. But the story was just boring. Then it ended. Very abruptly.
First of all this book mainly turned into more of Rayven book then Rayleigh, so you mean to tell me she cheats on her husband just because things weren’t going well and instead of fixing it she decided to cheat, & the only reason she stopped is because Treason “showed his true colors” because he was going to expose their affair, she had that man so comfortable to the point that he disrespected her husband right in her face, then had the nerve that when Treason said he was going to tell the husband since she’s quitting that she was going to say he sexually assaulted her??? But she gets a happy ending? she made it seem like her husband was the issue in the marriage but it was her & she was such a gaslighter & argued with her husband like she wasn’t the one doing the dirt, also had the nerve to be so judgmental to others when she’s the worse in this book, this books could’ve had way more detail and been longer, would’ve been better to hear more about Rayleigh because Rayven pissed me off sm that i couldn’t enjoy Rayleigh’s part.
Ok. This was a nice story but the quality of the work is not what I am used to reading from this author. There were so many mistakes that it felt like I was reading a rough draft. I'm a little disappointed in that. Also, there are some unanswered questions like what's the deal between Malik and Treason or what was the purpose of adding Reo/Neo, they don't really NEED to have answers but since it was introduced in the book it would be nice to know. The actual story was cute and this was a quick read.
This was so short and so rushed but cute nonetheless albeit there were many holes that were not closed at all…. Raleigh and Jude were cute together but whatever happened in LA. Did they saw Tracy? Etc…. Glad Cierra was dealt with. Rayven was by far the worst for and I just hope that Malik had a choice to do as he pleased. Now about Neo, what the name of his story? That I would be interested in
The characters left much to be desired! All the way from Jude steady getting beat up by his ex to Raven not caring about the vows she took in her marriage! I respects Nana out of EVERYONE! Least she had a backbone and owned up to her mistakes! Then the book is only one part!!! Like why leave us hanging! Cierra issued a thread and she was nuts so I wanna know what happened! No this book is a strong 2 stars!!!!
I kept expecting more and then it was over. I kind of feel cheated. Not to mention that what we did get was on repeat. The characters kept repeating themselves. Rayleigh told us several times that her husband wouldn’t help her with her career. Rayven explained over and over again why she was cheating. Jude made the same comments over and over about his ex cierra. I literally could predict what was going to be said in every chapter one for word.
This was a good read. I just feel like we could've gotten a little more, but overall, I enjoyed this. I really wish I could've heard from Tracy and see that he realized he really messed up with someone so great. Jude was heaven sent, and him and Rayleigh deserved happiness. I don't know how I feel about Rayven. I felt like she could've handled her situation differently, and it did have to result in cheating, but I really hope she learned her lesson.
Old to some, new to me… I was going through her catalog and decided to give this a try. It’s a good story, but boy did it piss me off! Like I was SO DAMN MAD! But that’s the markings of a great writer, I’ve been in, and had friends in situations like the characters in this book, it was real life while reading it and had me ready to spazz lol I said all that to say, it’s worth the read
This waz such a great book!! I love short, sweet romances..now Rayven I am glad she came to her senses. Malik was a good dude. And how about ol Nana!! I love granny's with a past and give that good wisdom. I love your work Jah keep writing I will definitely keep reading!!
I love love and if you love a good love story then this is a must read. This story shows real-life issues but in the end love conquers all. I wish I could have known how Tracy felt now that Rayleigh is blowing up. Great story Jah!!
Hmmmmm, The ply was really good and flow even better. Especially with main characters. However? I felt like something was missing. The conflicts were presented, but glossed over. Left me feeling unsatisfied.
This was a great read. Although the end left me baffled. I would have loved for a little more from Jude and Rayleigh relationship. It was as Rayven took over the story. Otherwise, the storyline was good.
That ending has me wanting more ! ! ! Rayleigh got a second chance at her dream and true love ! ! ! Rayven got a second chance on her marriage which could have went way worse ! ! ! Jude got rid of the toxicity in his life ! ! ! The messages were real and right on point ! ! !
Not sure what it was, but this one didn’t hit for me. Considering Rayvn’s actions- I was hoping to get an actual resolution. Because Malik deserved better than that. I wasn’t a fond of her.
Glad that Rayleigh, Rayven found their happiness. I wish that Jude, Rayleigh Ex could have seen how happy they were. Malik made a mistake. But Rayven was doin him wrong. A great read
I really enjoyed this book. I just wanted more of it fleshed out. I just don't see Cierra dropping all her foolishness because of a restraining order. Also, I wanted more backstory on Treason & Malik. There was a reason for Malik's dislike for him. Overall, I enjoyed the story. I want more on Rayleigh and Jude. I felt like I just got the beginning of their lovestory.
I'm glad Rayleigh came into her own after Tracy did her dirty. I wish we could have seen him see her shine. Raven did right by ending things with Treasure because Malik didn't deserve to be cheated on.💚💚
I love this book and these characters. I could feel every emotion throughout… As always Jahquel leaves you full yet wanting more. This book makes you love “love,” understand accountability, and the importance of having boundaries and seeing it thorough. #J&R🖤🖤
I loved this book! Once i started reading i couldn’t stop! It was a really good story! If you’re looking for a quick pick me up I’d definitely recommend
Overall i liked the booked too bad i wanted to get a small update on the ex husband and all . I like how Jude and Rae make it worked and so effortlessly.
