Magician's assistant Alice Harper keeps receiving unnerving letters at work. Each one is meticulously written and anonymously signed "Yours Truly." And each delivers an unsettling message that keeps her looking over her shoulder. Every time she thinks her admirer has given up, a new letter appears, more terrifying than the last.

Jack Walker, owner of Elite, a protection and security agency, makes it his personal mission to find Alice's stalker. He pulls out all the stops to make sure she’s safe. But as he and Alice get closer together, the threats and letters become creepier and more menacing. Worse, Alice’s stalker always seems to stay a step ahead of Jack and his crew.

Dual 1st person POV - Alice & Jack

(No major spoilers in highlights or review)

Yours Truly was my introduction to Jessica Brown and while I enjoyed the story, the characters fell a little flat for me. Our FMC, Alice, is a 21 y/o living with her BFF Sam and working as a magician's assistant to make ends meet. Her boss is, of course, a creep and a dick. Jack is an established adult (I don't think we ever get an age but it's clear he's in an extremely different place in his life than Alice) who runs his uber successful security firm and is contracted to beef up security at The Amazing Anslar. After rescuing her from an attack, Alice and Jack grow closer as the threat on her life becomes deadlier.

While this is told mostly from Alice and Jack's POVs, I enjoyed getting the random chapters from the stalker - they were short and ramped up the ominous factor. I hate when villain POVs go on for too long. But with all that said, I just didn't love the FMC that much. I think it's an age thing. She definitely acted her age throughout the book and at times she was TSTL. She naively withholds important information from the police preferring to bury her head in the sand and pretend it wasn't happening, she has a weird jealous freak-out moment that was immature and refused to have a rational conversation about what happened, she withholds MORE information from Jack, once again preferring to ignore all of the warning signs around her... BUT that said, she's 21 and it definitely feels like she's 21 so I guess it is what it is. I wish we could've dived more into Jack's past. We get a little bit about his childhood trauma and how it shaped his strong need to save every one of his clients, but I think the author really had an opportunity to bring him to life but his motivations just felt surface level.

And even though we didn't see much from her, I really liked Sam and I'm hoping she gets her own book... maybe with Jack's brother, Emmett?? Sam really seems like a ride or die girl and I can't wait to see more about her. Overall, I really enjoyed the plot and how unique it felt. There were little clues sprinkled throughout as to who it was and I will say I figured out a few things and I felt rewarded when the final picture all came together... A little bit of steam, some pretty good dirty talk, and a budding romance... all in all a fun read!

Yours Truly, Love Locked Down: Book 1 by Jessica Brown

The fact that this book had so many triggers listed in reviews, made me want to read it even more! I wasn’t disappointed. It was a really good book. I enjoyed the mystery of the stalker, and I liked how it was unpredictable. I thought I had it figured out, but nope, I was wrong. And the stalker notes added such a creepy vibe to the book. I definitely was entertained throughout.

THIS. BOOK. IS. LITERALLY. EVERYTHING.

I feel like I am still a little stunned after the ROLLERCOASTER of emotions that I just went through...

Everything about this book was spectacular from the beginning pages; Alice brings you into her life and throws you along for the ride... Throughout all of it, somehow, you end up becoming invested and believing certain theories and things, but one piece of advice I can give you about this book is always to think twice...

Within Yours Truly by Jessica Brown, we follow the story of a magic assistant Alice. Alice has been receiving letters, and after an attempted kidnap, things start to escalate. When Jack and his team of specialists step in, the last thing anyone expects to happen is Alice to turn up missing. But as the clock races to the final hours and things fall into place, will Jack break under pressure or keep his promise?

Yours Truly, is a fast-paced, stalker-thrilling mystery romance that will keep you on the edge of your seat, gripping to find out the missing piece of the puzzle before it's revealed. I adored this book. The romance was just the right amount of spice, and the thrill was all there. Such a great read for fans of suspense and drama!

Wow! This author brilliantly spins together drama, mystery, suspense, intrigue, romance and thrill into this captivating plot. A “magician” brings in a security detail to the theatre because he claims his life is in danger. The real danger affects his assistant, who keeps receiving mysterious letters. The owner of the security company brings in more staff as the threats become bigger. An unexpected romance begins between the assistant and bodyguard, as the threats from a stalker are amped up. There are several characters to keep this story fast moving, but the author keeps them clearly defined and their purpose relevant and some portrayed as red herrings. And as the plot progresses it’s realized this involves more than stalking. Midway through I was confident I knew who the stalker was, but just before the story reaches the thrilling end, I realize I was way off base. Which made me love this story more! The author provides in-depth background of the two primary characters, which are similar that they both come from very sad and tragic environments. Each struggled through life, and now one extremely successful and the other barely making a living. The book shifts between three points of view, and offers day and time which I found an engaging approach to move the story along at high speed. And yes, this story has a few steamy parts, but the high intensity threats and action dominate throughout. I highly recommend this book, especially for those not familiar with this author. I am hoping she writes a book that encompasses some of the people from the security company, which I believe would make a great series. I received a complimentary copy from Book Sirens, but I am voluntarily offering my personal opinion.

TRIGGER WARNINGS: Sexually explicit, graphic sex, stalking, physical violence, assault, abduction, sexual harassment, suggested sexual assault, torture, blood violence, mention of murder, and verbal and financial abuse from a parent.

Magician's assistance Alice is being stalked, her boss has hired a top market security firm for his own security. Alice falls for the owner of the security company who saves her from a failed abduction. Her stalker escalates the situation and she fights back.
Let me start with the importance of trigger warnings for this book. It is classified as a Romance with sub genre of Thriller Suspense, I want to mention these trigger warnings because if you have experienced any of trauma from those listed above, it might be best to not read this book.

I can't say that I found this book that romantic. There were spicy scenes but, with the stalker scenes event the steamiest scenes were cooled off. The chapter titles were disconcerting with the times, I know it is suppose to give a specific timeline as to the events, and add to the creep factor, and it did add to the creep factor.

The characters did not get much more than surface deep. I do know that in a Romance novel you aren't going to get much more than surface level, however, this is the first of a series. It would be nice to get more in depth with the characters. It never seemed to get more than "Jack is my Hero he saved me", and "Alice is a damsel in distress I must keep her safe."

At the end a person who has that significant trauma would not be that willing to jump into bed, and would not be encouraged to make huge life changing decisions before getting some kind of post trauma therapy.

If you read any suspense/romance this year... May it be this one.
Alice receives letters from a secret admirer, strange letters, letters that leave you with a chill and anticipation as to what will happen next.
Jack, the bodyguard to Alice's egocentric, asshole of a boss, saves Alice in the ally outside their workplace and the romance between them starts.
But it is not the romance that captivated me in this story, it is not knowing who the secret admirer is, till the very end. I usually figure out who the villain is after a while or sometimes quite quick, but I had no clue till he was announced.
The 'chills down your spine' and imagery keeps you reading. This book definitely had the 'just one more chapter' effect on me.
I will be reading more from this author.
Would highly recommend this read!

Well, this is not something I would usually read but I thought I'd take a chance. I really loved this book. I flew through the pages. I was really captivated. I don't usually like multi POV but it really worked here.

I felt like the ending wasn't obvious but also not forced so it was a good, natural reveal. The relationships aren't super deep but I wouldn't expect them to be for a book this length. I thought there was enough to not make things superficial.

Overall, this was an entertaining read. I'd be curious to read more from this author.

Not for me. I didn’t connect with the writing, characters or plot. Might be for you though. I read this as a buddy read without any context. I don’t need another 21 yo stunner FMC with money issues if that’s all that’s there character wise. And that’s not to say I also didn’t find the MMC boring either.

It took me a while to get into this story. I'm not sure if it's because of the multiple POVs, or that the story comes alive so fast we don't get a chance to bond with the characters. Overall, the story is sound and interesting. Jessica Brown does a good job keeping the reader guessing. Jack is a typical alpha hero. Alice is your typical fiesty damsel in distress. I wish I could say I liked her more, but I personally found her predictable. The stereotypical main character that you scream not to go in the basement, yet she does anyway. As I read, I found myself more curious about the side characters, as the main characters' story was easy predicted. It's an easy to read, fast paced, HEA mystery romance. I'm sure most readers will love the multiple POVs and the twists and turns.

This book had so many suspects to consider. The chemistry between Jack & Alice was sweet yet sizzling. The characters were so diversed. As you read you start trying to figure out who it could be. A few characters I wasn't a fan of but Jack's team were fabulous.

This Book follows Magicians assistant Alice and her security guard Jack as they try to solve the case of who her stalker is and how are they able to leave her creepy nots signed Yours Truly.

Love Jack he's strong, protective and the perfect book boyfriend. Poor Alice has already been through so much in her life and now has to deal with a creepy stalker. Let me tell you this story has some serious "You" vibes. He is creepy as heck. I loved the scenes from his POV. We didn't know who he was yet but how close he was is so disturbing.

Great book highly recommended!

Ohmigod…you need to pay really good attention to all the warnings about this book before you start. This one has what could be considered some really disgusting scenes—so be prepared.

This was one wicked read. The storyline was excellent but hard to take. The characters were well developed and sometimes downright scary. Thank God the HEA was real enough to help heal some of that pain and agony.

You may want to consider reading this book in stages. Too much at one time could have you puking on your shoes! This is a superb book. Grab a copy today…you’ll be glad you did. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and was totally taken with it.) ❤️

Steamy romance thriller with a side of magic - SIGN ME UP! For a new author, I was floored with the story and pleasantly surprised at every turn. This book had everything I could ever want & is dripping with detail. The characters are lovely & survive some really intense situations. Overall, a really great read with a cool & fun subject (magic) to hook you into the suspenseful storyline.

The mystery and intrigue were well thought out and the romance was steamy. The beginning was a little rocky for me - it took me a bit to get into the author’s writing style, especially the varying points of view across chapters. Once the story took off, the different POV’s started to serve their purpose and make more sense, so if you have this experience KEEP GOING! It’s so worth it and once you finish, the slow start makes sense to ease you into the setting!

This was a GREAT four star read for me. I knocked off a star only because I needed MORE about the characters!! There were a few things that seemed out of character throughout the book for many of the main and supporting characters. I wish we had gotten more rounded descriptions and backgrounds, especially for the romantic connections. There was some depth missing that really could have added warmth to the story.

This book definitely delivers on thriller and left me guessing longer than most mysteries. The romance and steamy scenes are there, but definitely take a back seat to the intrigue. I look forward to reading the rest of this series and seeing what other Elite personnel are up to in future stories!

This one kept me on the edge of my seat right from the jump. It was a thrilling read and there were a lot of twists and turns. And the ending was extremely satisfying and made the thrilling journey worth it.

Jack was a completely swoon worthy character. His natural protective instincts are part of what make him so good at his job. And part of what make him such a great book hero. The way he is immediately drawn to Alice and wants to protect her was part of what makes Jack such a memorable and incredible character.

Alice is struggling with a lot and trying to handle everything on her own. She’s also independent and doesn’t like being in a situation that requires her to reach out and ask someone for help. But Jack also makes her feel very safe right from the start. And her instincts tell her that Jack is someone she can count on. So she lets herself lean a bit on him. And from the moment she died, the chemistry between them goes from simmering to a full in inferno.

You have danger closing in, a mystery that keeps you guessing, some seriously intense chemistry, a beautiful romance, and writing that keeps you hooked and trying to read faster and faster to discover what happens next. I strongly recommend checking this one out! It’s the first part in what is going to be a series and I’ll just be over here pacing the floors until the next one comes out! This book comes with a slew of trigger warnings including stalking, sexually explicit scenes, violence and assault, and others. Please check out full trigger warning before reading.

I loved the premise of Yours Truly (secret admirer turns stalker and security attempts to keep the target safe). I was intrigued by the beginning of the book and enjoyed the details of the stage show. However, past the very beginning, I just could not get into this book.

I finished reading the entire book, but didn't feel very invested. I really disliked the main character Alice. If someone is threatening you and has already tried to kidnap you, I don't feel her reaction was believable. Her whole attitude was "la la la I can do whatever I want. If I get caught, it's everyone else's fault." She's drinking, kicking out security agents, staying with people who can't protect her and arguing against moving out of her present location. As it became clear to me that she wasn't going to take steps to protect herself, I didn't really care what happened to her. This led to me being uninterested in the whole work as it centers around if Alice is abducted and what happens from there.

Also, I found that overall, Jack and Alice were very stereotypical characters without a lot more than surface detail. I would have liked to see more and be able to care more as this is the beginning of a series.

Thank you for the free ARC. I am voluntarily leaving my review.

Excellent Thriller

Wow, what a novel!
It has everything, angst, suspense, and one twisted serial killer.
One heroine just trying to get through day to day, working for a narcissist employer, and a serious crush on a security owner who is there to protect the narcissist...?
Alice had a good childhood thanks to a loving grandfather. She loses him after beginning college and has to drop out because her mother sold all that could be and moved into the family home, then a week later let's her know her grandfather is gone. She is on her own, but is blessed with a roommate who completely loves her.
Jack Walker, owner of Elite Security, tolerates Alice's ridiculous employer because of the connections from the past. But, he's about had enough and then saves Alice from being killed in a alleyway.
Fromm this point on he really is protecting Alice and other innocent bystanders, but really Alice, In the cross hairs of a sociopath, begins a trail of terror that's inconceivable.
The author was exceptional was the ability to convey character descriptions, their thoughts, and feelings.
The indepth decisive writing about settings and actions were riveting!
This reader was completely enthralled from beginning to end! I cheered for Alice, and was amazed at the strength of this young woman!

I loved every hair-raising moment!

I will admit to being drawn into the investigation and wondering who is behind “Yours Truly.” I thought I knew, but ended up being wrong. Maybe that’s what the author intended. At any rate, it took me a long time to develop interest in figuring out the mystery. The relationship between Alice and Jack was really at the center of that delay. It seems unrealistic they would connect so early on and he would put all his hard-won professional ethics to the side for some woman. And Ansular? No way would any security company give that guy anything for free. I couldn’t let my disbelief go long enough to really enjoy these relationships. Finally figuring out who “Yours Truly” actually is, is also not as exciting as anticipated since this person isn’t as close to Alice as one would have thought. The redeeming characteristic of this book? The hunt and the weirdness of the murderer and the crimes they commit. Delay the romance and up the mystery and I’m in.

Overall, I would give it a 3.75/5 but rounded up to a 4/5. Storyline was good, characters were contrasting and compelling, and it left you wanting more! I have many questions that I hope are answered in a sequel. Also the ending (no spoilers) set it up for a sequel so fingers crossed! I would love to see Alice again.

The mystery part plus the spicy/romance side blended very well. I typically read one or the other because I cannot find one that combines the genres well. This one does!

When I started reading, I thought I was missing chapters. The story literally jumped right in and you find out Jack and Alice have known each other for a month or two (give or take). I wished the story would've started with them meeting or closer to that at least. Still not sure why Anslar needed the additional security. I figured it was because of the letters, but it wasn't.

Super quick read. The different views were good to break up the story more also with the mystery person's chapter - so well done!

I enjoyed the mystery in this book. I liked that it was unpredictable and the villain was not who I most expected it to be. I did find it to be a bit rushed as we neared the reveal and would've liked to see more of the motivations.

I loved the stalker notes - it achieved the creepy feeling well.

I really wish we were given more of an introduction to Jack. It seemed like we jumped in partway through a story and were supposed to already know who he was (I felt this way with multiple characters but Jack was the most noticeable).

The writing also flips between tenses mid paragraph a couple of times which was a bit confusing.

Overall, if you're a fan of romance mysteries and the protector/bodyguard trope then you'll enjoy this book!

This is a "I can't stop reading this book" kind of book. Alice, a magician's assistant, has a stalker. The author really surprised me with this - they turn out to be someone that I hadn't even considered. Every few chapters, there is one from the stalker's POV, and I fear for Alice as his feelings begin to ramp up. Jack, providing security for the magician, may have crossed "that line" professionally, but it's so easy to see how deeply he's fallen in love with Alice. And what a survivor she is! I just wish she'd been a bit more open with Jack about the stalker. The story isn't quite as dark as I was expecting - with the author leaving much of the stalker's torturous activities off-page - but there are still plenty of trigger warnings. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I received an advance copy, and this is my honest review.

This book reminded me very much of a sexier version of the Julie Garwood Buchanan series, which I adore. I really liked how real and relatable some of the characters (the world’s worst boss) were, while others were obviously that fantasy romance trope that I read to escape for a bit (ridiculously gorgeous gal who meets ultra hot alpha dude). I also liked that there were a handful of suspects that could have been THE Bad Guy, and good reasons to suspect each of them, and he does show up periodically rather than the dreaded “meet him on page one and then have to strain to remember who the heck the bad guy is and why you should care” that shows up in so many books that I HATE. Overall, Good read, I read it all in one day while pretending to do housework. Can’t wait for the next one in this series to come out.

I received an ARC, but my opinions are all mine.

This book would have been better without all of the unnecessary sex scenes. It felt like those were put there to make Alice and Jack more of main characters, but it just felt not needed. I felt myself skimming over them or directly skipping over them. Having the stalker be who they were wasn’t that shocking. If it has been the brother or Jack himself it would have made this book so much more interesting. I really didn’t feel anything for the main characters and I’m glad this book was only 288 pages. Any longer would have made it probably two stars for me. Jack being slightly obsessed with Alice gave slight stalker vibes too. It was giving ‘You’ in the worst way. I wished the stalker was someone else.

Many thanks to Book Sirens and the author for this ARC
This book was a bit heavy on the romance for me as not really my usual reading preference and wasn’t too sure when I first started reading it that I would enjoy it. Having said that I did find myself getting engrossed in the book. Told from three POV and I thought this worked well. The story had a good flow, gave you many suspects as it went along and was well written. Built up nicely keeping up the suspense to the end. I would read the next book in this series as I’m intrigued to see where the author takes these characters

Yours Truly was great. I was waiting on pins and needles to find out who the stalker was. I was so sure I was right but man, I was wrong. I enjoyed every moment of the book. The buildup from the beginning until the very end was amazing. The relationship that blossomed between Alice and Jack was well written. Even while being stoic and her protector he finally let his guard down for her and let his emotions out. I really enjoyed not knowing who the author was of the letters until the end. Not being able to figure it out was a definite plus, especially in such a well written storyline that had a great plot and supporting characters. I’m looking forward to seeing where this series goes!

Please read TW before starting this book if you have ANY triggers.
I love a good romantic suspense and this one is a new top favorite! I did not see the stalker coming and I had about 3 or 4 guesses in my head before it came out! I love a possessive hero and that was definitely Jack and I LOVE a strong heroine and that was 100% Alice!! I'm really hoping we get more books from this world because there are a lot of characters I'm interested in seeing more of.

Oooo, just by that first chapter I knew I was in for a good book! There's suspense and there's SUSPENSE. This book was great! GREAT! I loved the whole villain chapters, to the connection between the two mc's and also Alice's bravery through the whole book. This was definitely more plot, but there were a few sexy scenes. It's written in pov so you get to know everyone personally. And honestly, it kept me on my toes, I had no idea who was behind it! I think this one will give me a hangover for sure! Recommend if you're into mystery/suspense romance books!
Check tw's, some stuff is a bit dark
