Rachel Riley #5

Back to Life

Rate this book
Carpe diem i.e. seize the day! Which means utter experimenting as far as snogging is concerned. Am never going to find the ONE if just keep having accidental liaisons with Jack or ill-advised flirtations with Justin. The ONE is out there somewhere. Maybe even right under my nose. I just need to be open-minded. And open-armed. And possibly open-mouthed. Life, as they say, is what you make it. And am definitely, no doubt about it, going to make mine fabulous. Starting now. Read the hilarious results of Rachel Riley's 'seize the day' philosophy in this fantastic fifth instalment of her diaries.

Joanna Nadin is an English author of juvenile fiction best known for the Rachel Riley series of teenage novels Based on Nadin's own childhood, the series follows the comedic narration of a 13-year-old girl.

Nadin has also written several books of juvenile fiction. These include two books for the Oxford University Press "Project X" series designed to encourage boys to read.

Nadin previously worked as a policy writer for the Labour Party (UK).In 2001, she became a special adviser to Tony Blair.

As a child I buried myself in books both at home in Essex and at my grandparents’ houses in Cornwall, where I spent a large part of my time, and where many of my stories are now set. Books and later films were an escape not just from where I was but who I was, which, as I saw it, was pretty much a geek. They gave me the freedom to become someone else, from George in the Famous Five to Velvet Brown winning the Grand National to Baby dancing the Chachacha with Johnny Castle.

Olen nauttinut tästä Joanna Nadinin nokkelasta sarjasta suuresti. Päiväkirjatyylinen teksti, naiivi näkökulma, nuoruuteen kuuluva nollasta sataan innostuminen ja toisaalta epäinnostuminen hetkessä vievät lukijan hetkeen, jossa on hankala unohtaa, ettei lue oikeasti jonkun päiväkirjaa.

I am slowly working my way through this hilarious series of books and I am loving them. I may be slightly too ‘old’ to read these kinds of books but they remind me of my childhood and make me laugh - a lot!!
Rachel Riley is an hilarious character and I love her, along with her brother James, Sad Ed, Fat Kylie and many, many more!
This book wasn’t as good as the previous ones but I can’t wait to read the next one in the series and then the final one!

yeah once again a bit repetitive of the other books but maybe that’s just because i’m reading them all in a short space of time lmao! finding these later books quite enjoyable because rachel is in the same stage of education as me and some of the stuff about the common room/head girl nominations is painfully relatable. glad that new characters like tuesday/edie/hilary are not really in the picture anymore because they didn’t really add much especially considering the author has created a large, detailed cast of characters. really enjoyed the storyline about granny clegg’s political radicalisation. not enough of the kylies though 😡 anyway can’t believe there’s only two books left in the series!

Hihitytti muutaman kerran. Jatkaa samaa linjaa edellisten osien kanssa.
