This wasn’t as good as its prequel but still had moments to enjoy.
I felt there were some parts that could have been cut for a tighter plot. And the dancing only seemed to exist in this book to link it to the prequel. It veered well away from the dancing plague where its prequel began.

Completely unexpected!

The Dancing Plague 2 is the continuation of the story, reuniting Ben, Sally and Chuck 31 years after the events of book 1, in an "It" like fashion. This is not your average outbreak series to put it mildly, the truth behind the plague is nothing like one might expect. I'm not giving it away, you'll have to read the books to find out. That said, the writing is of the caliber one should expect from anything Bates writes, with good narrative quality, characters and dialogue. I have to say I've greatly enjoyed The Dancing Plague 1 and 2! Overall, 5/5 stars, highly recommended for anyone who enjoys horror novels. If you're A horror fan, The Dancing Plague will not disappoint!

Excellent story, Dancing Plague 2 has a dramatic plot, fast paced action, and the second book stayed true to the characters who were fleshed out in the first book. It was fun to see how the characters reacted to each other so many years later. Our three heroes connect to save each other, friends to the end. Great character arcs and deep dives into motivations. The horror is there, tense situations with bloody scenes, for all horror fans. A fantastic 2 book series, fun to read. Page turner.

Not a #1 from Jeremy Bates. I used to love his books, but I started guessing that after reading the first Dancing Plague. I wanted to give him another shot by reading the second one, and honestly, it left me even more disappointed than the first. I loved him for his retellings of true places and stories, but werewolves? This story was hardly about a dancing plague.

The first half of the book was probably five stars, and the second half was maybe two. I wasn’t totally sure I was going to read the sequel, because the first one was so slow. As I mentioned in my review on the first book I skimmed probably half of it. That being said, I was not amused when I got to the end of the book and felt prepared to read the sequel, only to find out it was not on Kindle unlimited like the first, and also costs more than a typical e-book.

So I read the sample to decide if I wanted to purchase the book. The sample sucked me right in, and I happily purchased and got to reading immediately. I was liking this book a lot better, because it was so much more engaging and didn’t have to skim. The new characters were entertaining, and the whole thing was written very well to keep me on the edge of my seat. I kept wondering where it was going next.

It kept me engaged all the way past halfway through until everything just got weird. The book just kind of ended without actually explaining anything.

It completely turned around a lot of plot points that were in the first book, and for absolutely no reason. Changing things like that were completely irrelevant. Other than the fact, I can only assume the author had written himself into a corner and needed to change things, so he used a sorry excuse to do it. And then the ending didn’t actually explain what the dancing plague was in the first place.

So do not be fooled by the title. This is just a werewolf book. Dancing plague itself is just a total random side story that has nothing to do with the rest of the book. That irritates me a lot because I’ve been fascinated by the dancing plague for years and it was the whole reason I started reading these books in the first place.

I’ve now purchased another book of his that has yet another interesting premise, so I’m giving him one more try. I really like his writing style. Overall, I just think he needs to get his plot lines together. However, after having read so many of these other reviews, many of his dedicated readers say that , dancing plague is disappointing compared to all his other stories, so I’m going to keep going and see if it gets better.

The Dancing Plague 2

If you read the first book, you'll enjoy this one. It continues with the same characters from the first book. They were teenagers then, and it's decades later when this story begins. Jeremy Bates carries his characters seamlessly on. This was a great follow-up with an acceptable ending.

Very satisfying conclusion to The Dancing Plague. This story takes place thirty years later and the main characters are now adults. They need to come to terms, in their own way, with the horror they faced as kids and are now facing once again.

Not as good as the first. Lacks excitement and the ending is "meh". Feels like the authors heart wasn't into it..more like a contractual obligation. Read the first skip this one. I highly recommend most of his other books - see my read list for which were best.

The book was a good read. It didn’t follow the first with the dancing. In this book it seemed to be hysteria instead of werewolf transformation. The plot was good with the twists it had. Overall a must read

Very good book. The same kids from The Dancing Plague 1 are in this book. They were teenagers then and now another dancing plague has broken out so they go to investigate. I really liked the end.

I'm not happy whatsoever with book two. Book one is really better and should've continued onto book two, back Chatham. It's very disappointing on the outcome of this particular book.
