ME: Kitchen maid who smells like bleach. THE DUCHESS: Gorgeous noblewoman who bathes in champagne. ME: Max's soulmate. THE DUCHESS: Max's fiancée. ME: Ready to do whatever it takes to show him how I feel. THE DUCHESS: Already doing exactly that. ME: Gulp.
Francine Paula Pascal was an American author best known for her Sweet Valley series of young adult novels. Sweet Valley High, the backbone of the collection, was made into a television series, which led to several spin-offs, including The Unicorn Club and Sweet Valley University. Although most of these books were published in the 1980s and 1990s, they remained so popular that several titles were re-released decades later.
Never read Sweet Valley High books before (didn't really interest me -- I was into Baby-Sitter Club books at the time), but i picked this up at a library one time. The cover and title caught my eye, and the summary sounded interesting. So, out of much context I read it. It was interesting, I'll admit.
I love Sweet Valley books in all their iterations but this story had very little momentum. I don’t feel much of a connection between Elizabeth and Max.
