4.5 stars, rounded up. Of all the travel guide book companies, I like DK Eyewitness the most. I appreciate how they organize/lay out different regions within the travel area; the amount of info they provide; and the background history they include.

For the Scotland guide book in particular, the regions made sense for our travel (the Highlands, Central Scotland, the Lowlands/South Scotland, and Edinburgh and Glasgow broken out on their own). I used the book to plan locations to visit, and then would reference it to share neat tidbits of info once we were there.

Side note: if the book publishers ever read this - please include the Eilean Donan castle in the index in the next edition.

Enjoyed the information and overall regional groupings, as well as the overall information provided. I don’t like how within the regions are laid out. If you’re trying to plan things close together or where best to go from somewhere, the book really jumps around based on “must see.”

I think what sort of travel guide someone likes is a highly personal decision, so I won't rate a guide with stars. But I am a big fan of the DK guides.
