In this time of COVID-19 fear, this graphic novel explains what happens to a body that is invaded by a virus. How a virus takes over living cells in order to reproduce. The bacteriophage contains either DNA or RNA, the genetic material that carries the instructions to make more viruses, and to copy and reproduce themselves.

My favorite frame is the hand washing frame.
Can we all just say this together: Wet, Lather, Scrub, Rinse, and Dry!

Other Fun Facts:
Antibiotics work against bacteria, not viruses.
Vaccines prevent viral infections.
Vaccines work on the specific virus it was designed to combat. If the virus mutates, then the vaccine may not work.

I repeat: Wash Your Hands!

Informative, timely read in an easily accessible format for kids. I recommend it for my sixth graders and anyone who doesn't understand viruses.

I learned that there is a virus in the tobacco plant that is shaped like cigarettes.

Max Axiom is never one to shy away from less than beautiful topics. In this addition he immerses himself into the world of viruses; showing readers the good, the bad and the necessary. I am a huge fan of non-fiction graphic novels to make learning more fun for students, particular those that struggle or are reluctant readers, this series does just that.

My 8 year old son adored this book, and even I found it educational especially as we are in the midst of flu season.
