Incredible book and challenge!

The author Colin O; Brady is a world record holder many times with some records including rowing across the Drake Passage and climbing the peaks of all 50 states in the shortest amount of time. He and his wife lead or create programs for people to get the most out of their lives by accepting challenges and opening up the mindset of what is possible.

This book really covers two topics. The first being the invitation to walk 12 hours distraction free to give you the space to think about going after a big goal and also to reflect on various aspects of your life. The second area of the book is a set of bite sized topics focused on a particular limiting belief. He has a deep reservoir of experiences that he has experienced and endured, and those experiences are brought forward as an example tied to the specific limiting belief in that chapter.

On July 25, 2026- I started the walk and with the lessons from the limiting believes fresh in my mind ( I don't have what it takes, I am afraid of failing, etc.), I was able to complete the walk in Salt Lake City in blistering heat. Personally, I think that it is important to do hard workouts, things that stretch you periodically to continue to grow and gain confidence. All in all the walk was hard but so needed.

We all have limiting beliefs; this book and walk will help you surface those and potentially start to overcome them which can help your life.

I started this with zero intention of actually doing a 12 hour walk. I just wanted to see what I could get out of it. Instead of being a self help book, this turned out to be an adventure memoir with a sprinkling of advice. I would have been disappointed if I’d been looking forward to the former but since I wasn’t, I ended up enjoying this for what it was.

Almost nothing about long, mindful walks. This was a vehicle for him to share his many extreme adventures. Poorly titled.

Terrible book. It was full of self indulgent stories of all the mountains he climbed and waterways crossed with lame connections to some motivational rules to live by. Don’t waste your time.
