Sooo... I only read two of the quick stories in this book, but those two alone were great. This is currently free through links on the author pages, so if you want it you can get it through their bio links through book funnel!
Dude in Distress by Helena Hunting was a super cute kismet road trip read. She uses a couple of characters from her Shacking Up universe and I really loved their story. I’m sad it’s not longer, because I’ve been curious about one of them since I read I Flipping Love You.
The Beach by RS Grey is cute. A beach vacay forced proximity romcom. It’s cute, quick, and steamy.
For a Good Time Call by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward
I really loved this! I wanted more. I wouldn't have minded a full-length book! Funny, beachy, sexy. Great!
Eternal Sunshine by L.J. Shen
I usually love Hollywood romances - and it was okay. But I didn't love-love it. It was a bit stupid. Too much wasted time. The writing wasn't my thing either. Sounded like it was google-translated in some parts and too many typos ... But it was a cute romance.
Stay Right Here with Me by Willow Winters
This was VERY short. Too short. I would'nt have minded to read this as a full-length story. Could've been interesting to read their whole story. It was okay the way it was, but way too short. It's probably part of a series or something - I haven't read any of Willow's books so far - so I wouldn't know. :/
Damsel Dude in Distress by Helena Hunting
Adorable. Funny. I loved reading it. I also read all the previous books in the series - so I knew who they were talking about / who they were related to. Cute Road-Trip-Story. Wouldn't have minded a real book for those two!
The Beach R.S. Grey
Cute. Beachy. Sexy. These stories all end way too soon. I want MORE and I want epilogues! ☺
For A Good Time Call : 2.75 Estrellas! Eternal Sunshine : 1.5 Estrellas! Dude In Distress : 3 Estrellas! The Beach : 2 Estrellas! Lucky Shot : 2.75 Estrellas!
I am always ready when it comes to reading an anthology featuring some of my favorite authors! Summer Fling is the newest (and FREE!) collection this group of 7 authors have just released. You can grab it in any of the authors' social media websites. I enjoyed all the stories but I do have to say L.J. Shen's was my favorite! I found it was the one that developed more the story and feelings between the couple. I also really liked R.S. Grey's and Sarina Bowen's. My least favorite was Helena's, which surprises me because I usually really enjoy her books. I just did not connect as much with the couple and the style of the story. Still, all the stories provided a good and entertaining afternoon read, which is exactly what I wanted!
• For a Good Time Call by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward - 3.5 'Summer Fun Pact' Stars! • Eternal Sunshine by L.J. Shen - 4.5 'Sunny Side Up' Stars! • Stay Right Here with Me by Willow Winters - 3.5 'Make it shine' Stars! • Damsel Dude in Distress by Helena Hunting - 3 'Kama Sutra sheets' Stars! • The Beach by R.S. Grey - 4 'Real Paradise' Stars! • Lucky Shot by Sarina Bowen - 4 'Happy Birthday, Bessie' Stars!

Nota global: 3,5 estrellas. Una sexy y entretenida lectura veraniega. Mi valoración de las historias:
- Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward - For a Good time call 3,5 estrellas - LJ Shen - Eternal sunshine 3,5 estrellas - Willow Winters - Stay Right here with me 2,5 estrellas - Helena Hunting - Dude in distress 3,5 estrellas - RS Grey - The Beach 3 Estrellas - Sarina Bowen - Lucky Shot 3 estrellas (le daría más, pero es cortísimo)
Read every single one of these. They were all cute. Of course I loved some more than others. Some left me a little unsatisfied in the end because I craved more of the characters or I wanted to see something that didn't happen (Vi and Penelope's story).
I really loved L. J. Shen's one. She really managed to write it well for its size and wrap it up just right. I would have loved to have more build up and back story on Willow's story but it was pretty good too.
I'm very excited to now go and read the Sarina book this novella was about. R. S. Grey's was very summery and cute but I would have also loved more background on the characters. I think it migh exist because these characters might be related to one of her books, I just haven't read it yet.
I adored Helena Hunting's. I love the Shacking Up world and I adored getting more of it. And these two worked so well, I really enjoyed it.
For a Good Call by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward
ME ENCANTÓ!
Eternal Sunshine by L.J. Shen
Stay Right Here with Me by Willow Winters
Damsel Dude in Distress by Helena Hunting
Voy a chequear obvio la serie Shacking Up.
The Beach by R.S. Grey
Lucky Shot - Sarina Bowen
I understand that I don’t like to read short stories unless it’s not about a book i read and love before. So I’m telling you guys it’s not the book it’s me. 🙋🏼♀️
Summer Fling: A Sexy Summer Anthology is almost the perfect summer read. It features six short stories by various authors. For me, these stories were either a hit or a complete miss.
For a Good Time Call by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward – 5 Stars For a Good Time Call is easily my favorite story of the bunch. It was laugh out loud funny and the perfect set up for a full length novel. What else can you expect from Keeland and Ward?
Eternal Sunshine by L.J. Shen – 3 Stars Eternal Sunshine started out really good, but resolved quickly with very little tension. I also wasn’t the biggest fan of the dialogue.
Stay Right Here With Me by Willow Winters – 2 Stars Stay Right Here was boring and too short. I didn’t like the characters or setting.
Damsel Dude in Distress by Helena Hunting – 5 Stars This story takes place in the Shacking Up universe though it can be read a standalone. It was a quick read that didn’t feel too long or short. It was fun and sexy. I would also have liked for this to be a full length novel.
The Beach by R.S. Grey – 5 stars The Beach was a fun and sexy vacation romance. The chemistry between the main characters coupled with the setting makes The Beach the perfect read to curl up outside with under the sun. I’ll definitely be reading g more R.S. Grey!
Lucky Shot by Sabrina Bowen – 2 stars Lucky Shot is a too quick hockey romance that comes off as awkward.
Overall, I enjoyed my time with Summer Fling. I read one story a day to prolong it for as long as possible. I’m happy to have discovered a new author that I can’t wait to read more of her work.
Summer Fling is a great light pick me up read for the summer. I am familiar with majority of the authors, except I have not read books from RS Grey and Sarina Bowen. After this read, I am sure I will pick up books from both, particularly, Sabrina Bowen.
Although these novels are intended as flings majority of them end with a quick HEA.
For A Good Time Call - This book had me laughing at some of the antics the main characters did in this novel. The Fresh Prince of Bel-air written style email hahaha. This short story is relatively low for heat. But overall enjoyable. I just wish the h was more confident.
Eternal Sunshine Miss Shen always meets my expectations. Adam is no white knight, he is a alphahole just like many of other hero's LJ Shen has written. This short story includes . . . - Brother's Best Friend trope - Long separation (10 years) - Angst (at the moderate level) Overall, highly enjoyed this short story!
Stay Right Here With Me - Willow Winters is a new author to me, but I like Winter's writing style a lot. This novel is more of a friends with benefits looking for more from each other. It is shorter than the other short stories; however, the story is still written well. These two have a big history but what they fully want is not always communicated the best. The main h has a highly guarded wall as she is scared that when she let's someone in, they will leave. But that is not the case whatsoever. Furthermore, this is a cute emotional read with a HEA.
Damsel Dude in Distress - Helena Hunting never fails to make me laugh while reading. Lawson (main H) is clueless and is having severe bad luck with the car he just recently bought. Luckily he had a bad ass chick who knows cars past by, stop, and help him. And off their relationship goes. These two though are not strangers, in fact his sister and the main h's sister are sister-in-laws. Characters from Shacking Up are mentioned/talked to the main h in this novel. I have not read this one, but I think I am going to, so I can see how Cosy and Griffin relationship starts. From what Navah said, they had quite the meeting.
The Beach - This one was okay. This is a new author to me as I never read anything by RS Grey. I would like to see other work and give them a whirl though. This is one of the longer short story with a slow burn as they two knew each other for years and danced around each other. Finally, they take the dive and it is a hot romance, but it is not a fling rather the long haul in the making.
Lucky Shot TEASER. Not a short story, T-E-A-S-E-R. I will surely be reading the Sure Shot after that Ten Years Ago read. Like what happens when they meet again !?! Just as much chemistry, I'd hope. New TBR now.
This was offered for free a bit ago. I am not sure if it offered free still/available. Overall, I finally got around to reading it and I am pleased with these short reads. Anthologies are usually not a thing I go for, but I was generally happy with this one.
For a Good Time Call by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward - 4-4.25 stars Fun, flirty, quick read -- TOO quick! Such a tease at only 4 chapters. I really wish there'd been 3-5 more chapters. None the less, even being so brief, it still sucked me right in.
Damsel Dude in Distress by Helena Hunting - 3.5 stars It was good - flirty, cute, fun. I'm happy Lawson from the Shaking Up series finally got his own story(I've been wanting it since Pierce's book), but I'm disappointed he didn't get a full length book at the same time.
Eternal Sunshine was a great quick listen. The prologue was enough to have me hooked on these characters. Picking up 10 years later was a great transition. This short story me gave me a little bit of all the things I love in LJ Shen’s novels. I also love Savannah Peachwood’s narration of LJ’s books. Her voice, cadence, and inflections just add so much to the piece. I will definitely be relistening to this one!
4.5 Stars Here is a mini review for each book in this FREE anthology.
For a Good Time Call by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward - This was one of the shining stars in this anthology. It was the epitome of a summer romance. There was the beach, hilarious moments, and a flirty romance. I really enjoyed it.
Eternal Sunshine by L.J. Shen - This was the short story that brought the book down for me. It didn't feel summery at all. It felt depressing. I don't know what the dude was thinking in the beginning, but it completely killed the story for me from the get-go. Eternal Sunshine is just another example of why I think I have grown out of L.J. Shen's current writing style.
Stay Right Here with Me by Willow Winters - I loved Stay Right Here with Me. I would have loved for this to have been a full length novel or even just longer. I wanted to spend more time with this couple.
Damsel Dude in Distress by Helena Hunting - This was another gem that had me laughing. I loved these characters and their story. I would have read more of it. It took me a while to figure out how the characters in this story relate to other characters in Hunting's books, but once I did I was even more sold on this short story.
The Beach R.S. Grey - I was sad when this one was over. I really wanted more just so I could keep reading about this couple. It was so much fun. It had a summer vacation resort vibe that I loved. I would be on board for Grey to turn it into a full length novel.
Lucky Shot by Sarina Bowen - Lucky Shot was the reason I picked up this anthology, and it did not disappoint. I loved getting one more look at Bess and Tank's relationship. They're such a fun couple and have amazing chemistry. It was basically a prologue to Sure Shot.
i liked all the romances. though it's short, the authors managed to create situations that linked the heroine and hero of the respective stories together without it feeling like an insta-love kind of thing.
Fun!!! For a Good Time Call & The Beach were probably my favourites, but there are no bad stories here, just light fluffy fun. Most (all?) of these are connected to full novels, so if you know then it's a nice easter egg, but they're easy to read & enjoy if you have no idea too.
Wow!! What a great ensemble of best romance authors, obviously this one is a must read for every romance reader. This goes without saying that every story is packed with summery vibes and sexiness.
•FOR A GOOD TIME CALL - VI KEELAND & PENELOPE WARD This one was very cute and funny and sexy meet cute kinda story. 4⭐
•ETERNAL SUNSHINE - L.J. SHEN Damn! I literally laughed in this one, like laugh out loud.My favourite one! 5⭐
•STAY RIGHT HERE WITH ME - WILLOW WINTERS This was way too short. 2.5⭐
•D̶A̶M̶S̶E̶L̶ DUDE IN DISTRESS - HELENA HUNTING The title is so awesome. I'm all here for alpha females, although this book seemed like a promotion for some other series of the author, the other character's story was unnecessarily crammed. 3⭐
•THE BEACH - RS GREY This one gave me strong sense of deja vu about The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren, I enjoined this one quite much. 3.5⭐
•LUCKY SHOT - SARINA BOWEN Gah! This was nothing but a description of one night stand maybe, their was no chemistry between the MCs, I get it's "Summer Fling" but can't a person expect some romance. Then at the end you realise it's a prologue of a novel. Good try, but I won't read it. 1.5⭐
Free for signing up for an email list: Ended up DNF-ing all of these, for various reasons, but ultimately it reminds me that "free" and "anthology" is a terrible combination for me about 99% of the time.
"For a Good Time Call" by Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward: DNF, urgh, I think it's trying to be cute and flailing. Can't keep reading.
"Eternal Sunshine," by LJ Shen: Has the 'a decade later' cliche, but oh well. This one could have used a polish edit. But, alas, the 'hero' was terrible to the MC and she did the right thing, and yet this confrontation has him blaming her. So, again, DNF because communication goes both ways, author.
"Stay Right Here With Me" by Willow Winters: DNF for a truly gawky prose style I don't feel like enduring.
"'Damsel' [crossed-out] Dude In Distress" by Helena Hunting: DNF; this is the sort of first-person narrative that I get done with very quickly. Very self-chatty for no reason except it should've been in third to remove this 'no one IRL thinks all this crap to themselves' reaction.
"The Beach" by RS Grey: Not feeling it. DNF in the first few pages.
"Lucky Shot" by Sarina Bowen: aaand another first person one that should have been third. Oh well.
For A Good Time Call-Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward Lola and her two best friends are renting a beach house for the summer and they are having a good time but Lola is bored. One night she finds a number in a bathroom stall and decide to call it. Lola and Silas start out their friendship over the phone until they meet up in real life and figure some things about each other.
The Beach-R.S. Grey Lindsey and Noah are busy doctors and for the first time in a while they have a vacation. Lindsey and Noah's best friends were suppose to also be on the vacation but end up canceling last minute. Lindsey has had a crush on Noah for years and on this vacation, they finally give into their feelings for one another.
Lucky Shot-Sarina Bowen We go into greater detail about the night Bess and Tank met and spent together.
4.99 stars This was a freebie for signing up to all the authors mailing list. As I’m already signed up to most of them it was a no brainer. I often struggle with short stories but really enjoyed all of these. It’s not often every story in an anthology is enjoyable but they were in this case. I don’t know RS Grey or willow winters so I’m hoping I’ll enjoy reading one of their novels that have been added to my WTR list. A very quick easy read which was by short story standards 5 stars for me. I reserve my 5 stars for my absolute all time favs that I would want to go back and re read time and again. This wouldn’t quite make that but it couldn’t have been better in terms of a short story anthology.
This was seriously such a quick, fun, SWOOOOOONY bunch of stories!
I know 3 of the stories are linked to other books/series by their authors but I think the other 3 are stand alones and I really enjoyed that mix.
• For a Good Time Call ★★★★ — This was a perfect first story for this anthology, kicking off the perfect summertime feeling! The premise was super funny and I really enjoyed it! An open ending and less sexiness than the others definitely left me wanting more!
• Eternal Sunshine ★★★★★ — Adored this second chance love story! While I always end up wanting more, this one felt perfect in its length and the fact that we got an epilogue just felt like the perfect wrap up!
• Stay Right Here with Me ★★★★ — I’ve never read a story like the plot of this one and I really enjoyed it. In the short 3 chapters we got enough of a glimpse into the character’s relationship that it felt perfect in its length and conclusion. I didn’t need more and didn’t feeling deprived. I was left with warm fuzzy feelings that come with an HEA and I couldn’t be happier.
• Dude in Distress ★★★★★ (connected to the Shacking Up series) — Obviously I absolutely loved this one because I never not love anything by Helena! I realized the connection after the first page and proceeded to screech my excitement! The second connection had me screeching even more! Laughing with every chapter and swooning by the end, I’m starting a petition to have this turned into at least a longer novella because I need more from these two beyond that ending!!!
• The Beach ★★★★★ (connected to Doctor Dearest) — The other one I was obviously going to love because I’m obsessed with Rachel’s stories! When I finished Doctor Dearest earlier this year, I prayed to the book goddesses for a story for these two characters and Rachel did not disappoint! Like with Helena’s, I really wish this could at least be a longer novella but Rachel’s is the longest story of the set and, if I’m being honest, it’s really perfect as is!
• Lucky Shot ★★★.5 (connected to the Brooklyn series) — This is the only story that left me wanting, and not necessarily in the best way. I enjoyed the story for what it was, I short companion to one of her series (and by short I mean one chapter that is basically a prologue to the full story in the series), but having no experience with this series and the connection being to the newest book, I just didn’t feel as satisfied with it as I was with the others. It definitely left me intrigued to read the other books of the series, but more out of obligation to finish their story rather than actually wanting to.
My only overall bummer is that the first story is the only one that really fit the “summer fling” title. Helena and Rachel’s stories had the summertime vibe but you could tell they lead to HEA’s. The first story’s open ending left the possibility for a HEA but you’d also feel satisfied if it was just a fun summer fling. But even though the others didn’t give me the same vibe to fit the title, overall I really enjoyed this collection of stories! They were fun, sweet, sexy, and just what I needed!
I think anthologies are good slump-busters. They are relatively short and sweet enough to keep your attention and the variety of stories that you get will keep things exciting. The stories here are good and sexy enough that you would love to read more of them. Readers can definitely have a taste of what each author's style is and will surely find something that suits their taste very well.
5 stars: My favorite stories are For a Good Time Call by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, Eternal Sunshineby L.J. Shen, and Damsel Dude in Distress by Helena Hunting. I immensely enjoyed these stories. The characters are really nice but complex and relatable, and very fun to read.
3.75 stars: R.S. Grey's The Beach features side characters from her novel Doctor Dearest. Be that as it may, I think it is not necessary to read that one before reading The Beach as the context was not that too important to miss. However it may be a bit spoiler-y for those who wish to dive through the initial novel. This is the longest story in the anthology and had me wishing it was shorter. There were parts that were slow and unexciting and the chemistry is not the best for me. However, I really liked the sexy, summer, vacation vibe that the story gave off.
3 stars: My least favorite stories here were Stay Right Here With Me by Willow Winters and Lucky Shot by Sarina Bowen. The problem with anthologies is that some stories --because they are in nature, short ones-- could leave readers unsatisfied. These two stories were quick, steamy and sweet but I just wish there was more exposition to wrap things up, I guess? However the last story is more of a prologue to Bowen's novel, Sure Shot.
Overall, I really enjoyed this anthology and I cannot wait to read more from these authors.
This is an anthology of 6 books by 7 incredible authors. FREE to you for a limited time only. I will choose one short story to write my review. My review will be on Sarina Bowen's Lucky Shot.
Bess is new employee working for an established sports agency. With her birhday coming up, her boss invites her to dinner with some new clients. She figures it will give her experience, so why not go?
Mark AKA "Tank" is excited to be chosen to work with the team in New York. He was more than pleased to meet such a sexy woman at dinner too. Maybe they should get to know one another?
This was a quick jaunt into the lives of some very talented characters. I was pleased to get to read their "meet cute." Right from the beginning they are attracted to each other. The fact they are intelligent only adds to the attraction. We see these amazing characters again in the current book Sure Shot. This anthology brought some serious fun reads to me. I was very grateful to get this collection for FREE also. Link for you to get your copy is below.
* For a Good Time Call by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward * ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I really enjoyed this one, it was so so good! Only for me a wanted a bit more closure, but I get it they are short stories.
* Eternal Sunshine by L.J. Shen * ⭐⭐⭐,5 I found it good, but not swoony or so. For me it was such a long time to waste 10 years it could've gone so wrong.. I understood Adam from the moment he utered the words, but she (forgot name) didn't get it that way. Now her brother was so wrong in his whole assumption and there for they wasted so much time.. Also the blurb wasn't exactly right either..
* Stay Right Here with Me by Willow Winters * ⭐⭐⭐⭐Very short only 2 chapters I think, but very good!
* Damsel Dude in Distress by Helena Hunting * ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It was so so funny! It was part of the shacked gang I love them! It was so fun in the motel!
* The Beach R.S. Grey * ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I really liked this one, it was fun to see how they figured each others feelings out. With the questions and all.
* Lucky Shot by Sarina Bowen * ⭐⭐⭐ To be truly honest I can't remember this one.. I only read it last night and still..
A delightful little summer fling-themed anthology from some of the best romance authors out there. Each varies in length (some are as short as 3 chapters, some as many as 8), but each are sweet and steamy little short stories. Normally I leave anthologies wanting full stories (and wondering why authors didn't just write full stories to begin with) but these shorts are all focused and feel complete- small snapshots into that initial connection. The author's individual writing styles really shine through- and I particularly enjoyed LJ Shen's short second chance/brother's best friend short that was chock full of that LJ alpha hero and her characteristic emotive steam. Also really enjoyed RS Grey, an author I'm less familiar with- another brother's best friend delight (clearly I like this trope).
A short and enjoyable story from one of my favourite authors.
The two main characters, Adam and Nika, go way back to High School. Adam is Nika's brother's best friend. Fast forward 10 years and we reconnect with this pair when they reconnect. This story is witty, charming, has plenty of tension and chemistry, and was engaging from start to finish. I really enjoyed it.
**Stay Right Here With Me - Willow Winters**
This is such a sweet and warm short story. Lysa and Dean were lovely. Their story gave me all the feels. A couple who aren't actually a couple, but they both want so much more from their relationship. A feel-good romantic tale.
**Dude in Distress - Helena Hunting**
Dude in Distress is a really witty and funny romantic short story. An unexpected shared car journey on a road trip brings Lawson and Nevah together. Hunting knows how to write charming and quirky characters, and deliver the hilarious in her stories, and this story is pretty heated too!!
