I really liked this story. At first I thought, what, humanity is freaking out after just 2 days of no electric? oh no. BUT, thinking of the scenario, ah, cars quitting, planes falling, maybe they would.
And with this, I got into the story and characters. I'm a Vet so was interested in how the Vet in the story would be written.
It is a believable story and believable characters. I was able to get into the story and Live it, in my mind. I like stories like that.
I definitely recommend this story.

I can see why this is a young adult novel. The characters are inconsistent in behaviors. The situations are too fantastic. There is no sex. Also no way could this happen without someone figuring out the cause.

The plot line of this series has a lot of potential however the conflict is not written well. There a lot of big things that happened and then not resolved.

Grip of Fear : A Post-Apocalyptic EMP Survival Thriller (End of Days Book 1), my second read from author Sam J. Fires . A well-written, entertaining read, continues seamlessly from the end of Surviving Chaos, with well-developed characters that I read in a single setting, 121-pages in length.

Grip of Darkness: A Post-Apocalyptic EMP Survival Thriller (End of Days Book 2), my third read from author Sam J. Fires . We switch settings & primary characters going from Cass to her sister Charlie & Ruby.

Grip of Terror: A Post-Apocalyptic EMP Survival Thriller (End of Days Book 3), my fourth read from author Sam J. Fires . A well-written, entertaining read, 135-pages in length.

Grip of Death: A Post-Apocalyptic EMP Survival Thriller (End of Days Book 5), my fifth read from author Sam J. Fires . A well-written, entertaining read, 126-pages in length. Again we switch settings & primary characters going from Cass back to her sister Charlie & Ruby.

Grip of Madness: A Post-Apocalyptic EMP Survival Thriller (End of Days Book 5), my sixth read from author Sam J. Fires . A well-written, entertaining read, 124-pages in length.

Grip of Evil: A Post-Apocalyptic EMP Survival Thriller (End of Days Book 6), my seventh read from author Sam J. Fires . A well-written, entertaining read.

Grip of Honor: A Post-Apocalyptic EMP Survival Thriller (End of Days Book 7), another well-written, entertaining read. “I received a free Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Couldn’t put it down!

I bought the series ebook and it was so good! It’s a fast read, but almost too fast because I didn’t want it to end either. I highly recommend this series and I can’t wait to move onto reading the prequel and the side series (After the End) next. The story completely drew me in and the characters were so likable. I also really appreciate that the content explains the violence that’s necessary to the plot without being gory. The romantic relationships that exist between characters are there, but they aren’t the focus and the content never becomes steamy. I found the levels of violence, sex, and language to be perfect for an adult audience without being offensive or excessively focused on any of those issues in place of having a plot that drives the narrative.

I enjoyed this set of books and watching how people coped when technology failed and devastation and starvation stared them in the face. I can only hope that if such a situation did occur, that people wouldn’t fall apart as quickly as most of the ones depicted in this series. The series fell short in that the characters back stories were sparse and there could have been character development. I would have liked a bit more humour to enlighten the barbarity and savagery that developed. Each individual story in the set was more of a short story or novella than a full novel, as I stated, these could have been longer and with more development of character and background. Other than that an interesting take on the effects of dramatic change.

DNF

The story was no thriller. Actually, it was more of a rather boring drama. A woman who felt strong and empowered in good times now shows her true colours being overly naive, distraught and looks for shelter with her parents whom she despised before. For additional - really preposterous-drama she gets stalked by her ex- even through snowstorms.

Criticism and comments

I found it odd that the story starts only after the black out as the author miseed the opportunity to set the scene and show the female protagonist in a better light.

The people behaved very odd. I found it hard to believe that so many people would stay in their unheated cars for several days..

Great series

The End of Days box set was my first exposure to Sam J Fires. I’m now a big fan. The series had wonderful characters that felt like, if they were real, I’d be close friends with them. The bad guys were exactly that, and I did not like them at all.
If you want to read a different kind of story about what could be an EMP, take a chance on this set of books. I’ve never lied to you before, and I’m not going to start now…read the books, you won’t be able to put them down!

I read End Of Days too the finish. It was a very good read, easy for anyone who has a minimum of 6 years of schooling can read it. No foul language, no sexual (illicit) content, which means it’s written for everyone to be able to enjoy it without being Offended by its content. Some people love Blood, Guts, Vulgar language and lots of sex but others don’t. I can read both but prefer all the Bad Language kept to a minimum. After all, it’s not like I’m looking for a Penthouse Forum or something.
The Writing is very good, easy to follow and to understand, and the narration is very good.

Great, realistic and well written dystopian adventure. Love the series with all the twits and turns. It is quiet realistic. Hopefully there be follow ups in this universe and with the same characters.
It has great, realistic characters with all their faults and how they interact. It is well written and keeps you wanting to read the next page.

In the midst of trying to survive, antagonists cause havoc. Will our heroes come out in one peace?

This series was good, I've read better and I've read worse. I would have liked more depth in the storyline but it was an easy read.
I feel having that many half siblings was a bit much, should have stopped with Daniel.
The biggest subject I had a problem with, is that through out the entire series no one grasped the concept that it was an EMP, how clueless do they think people are to think it's something easily fixed when the power, cars, and phones don't work?
Overall it was worth the read.

Could Not Stop Reading

This series was easy to read and follow. I had a hard time stopping my reading to do other things. I wanted to know what was happening next. I liked that what ever each character had going on with their life, the answer did not drag on for too long. This series was not overly gruesome with details which I myself liked.

It’s not the end

I like my journey through this set of books. The way these characters came together. Normal people taking on terrible situations. I would recommend this set of books to anyone that likes apocalyptic stories. I gave it this rating because I don’t think any stories are perfect. Even when you can’t put them down.

Full of action. Full of emotion

A very good story about the end of civilization and a town that managed to come back. The difference started with the outsiders, and encompassed the entire town.

more woke crap

A post apocalyptic thriller and I’m still having woke crap shoved down my throat. I read to escape everything but apparently that’s no longer an option. Also the start of book one begins after the EMP. Very bad decision

Good read

It was a good read. Not as in depth as some I've read but a good solid set of books. Good characters, solid premise and really good writing. I enjoyed the story and the interactions between some of the different groups of people. Would recommend.

Holy Winter Batman!

Sam Fires writes with abandon. His characters evolve from strangers to people you want to have your back. The bad guys come out of nowhere and cause pain and panic. Looking forward to seeing what else comes from the fertile mind of Fires.

This is an awesome series.

I know I like to be scared out of my wits (not really), but that could only be the reason why i would read Sam Fires book series one after the other. This one did not disappoint.

interesting

Very interesting and realistic. At the end of seven books, they still dont know there was an EMP or what an EMP is. Survival and just how quickly life changes with unknown
