This series has quickly become a delight. There’s fantastic character development. Save for how the humans come to be where they are, it’s feel good without being cozy. And the author did a great job adapting it from the film inspiration.
This installment focuses on the two youngest of the group. Both inexperienced in life but immediately recognizing their connection to the other. Of course the elder humans and alien brothers are doing everything to keep them from being alone together. I couldn’t stop smiling every time they managed to sneak off for stolen moments navigating kissing and touching and ‘seeing’ for the first time. It is so charming. The fumbling around discovering each other’s anatomy and how it functions is hilarious. They are so cute and innocent. And when they’re not together we’re treated to pining, longing, yearning!
In this book we’re treated to a tour of the sizable dome home built by the alien brothers’ parents. If you struggle with descriptions you might zone out for a bit but it sets the stage for what’s to come so stick with it. The house plays such a big role in the setting, and is so extensive, that I found myself wishing there was a map to help visualize it better.
In book 1 the alien brothers rescue the human women from being on the menu at an alien eatery. There’s obviously a lot of trauma for each character. Do read the content warning that Becca so wonderfully provides at the beginning of each book.
Did I love this book? Yes Did I also wanna throw it across the room? Also yes I absolutely loved Gallium and Ayaka's story. Reading about their curiosity for one another blossom into love was great!
What I didn't love? Meela. I didn't think I could like a fmc in the first book then want to actually punch her in the face while she's down in this one.
I get it, these women went through trauma and they want to feel safe. I also get that the Ponti brothers are dirty messy boys, sure, but kicking out the ppl who rescue you from their own home for so long is just plain ridiculous.
I dislike most of the women actually. Since I love this author I know they can probably be redeemed. Except Meela. (Though seeing her get put in her place at the end was amazing!)
Now those brothers though, I love all of them and can't wait to learn more about each one and have them find their hea.
