I came home from war with fresh scars, a broken heart, and an empty apartment.
So when an old Corps buddy offered me a job within his elite bodyguard firm, I jumped at the opportunity.
It was time, I thought, for my life to finally start going the right way.
That’s until my boss’ little sister arrives at the company Christmas party wrapped in seductive red and crooking a finger my way.
Cadie McCallister has always been an off-limits temptation for me. So it takes all of my willpower, and a hefty dose of ‘turn the fk around’ for me not to accept her offer of a wild night with no strings attached.
But as fate would have it, my efforts to keep her safe are for naught when my boss enrages a vicious cartel, and now, Cadie has become their target.

I’ve promised my friend that I’ll protect his sister, no matter the cost.
But who, if not her brother, will protect her from me?

This book was a really enjoyable read! Logan and Cadie were great main characters. Loved their relationship development and banter. The friendships between the OPS guys was fantastic. Their banter and bond was so well developed.

Logan and Cadie

This was great for a debut novel. It took a little bit to get into the story and plot, but once it got going it was pretty good. Even though the whole story takes place over the course of less than a week, it felt like a much slower pace than that. It was a good introduction for this author and a good introduction to the Orion team.

When Logan’s boss stirs up trouble with the Mexican cartel, he sends Logan to protect his sister, Cadie. Logan felt a connection to Cadie the first time they met, so when she’s threatened he drops everything to keep her safe. Logan and Cadie fight their feelings for each other until they finally give in. There is a little back and forth because Logan doesn’t know how her brothers will react and he also needs to focus on keeping Cadie safe and he doesn’t express himself very well.

I usually love books set in the Sierras, since I grew up there, but I felt like all the details about their location was pretty vague. They mentioned Truckee, my hometown, and Tahoe, but implied a city in California was a 45 minute drive away and I couldn’t figure out what city that would be. The other thing that kept my rating low was the level of suspense and action. I felt like there should have been more action and suspense from a group of ex-Marines and while it was well written, I just wanted more.

Overall I thought this was well written and I liked the plot. It was a good debut novel and I’m interested to see where this series goes from here.

Great Debut Novel!

Way to go Skylar on a great first book!

This book had a bit of everything and checks the marks for my interests:
* hot alpha, protective, sexy male
* pet names
* swoon-worthy steam and spice
* suspense
* MFC who can hold her own

I really loved Logan and Cadie! From the beginning, I resonated with Logan and Cadie with him as an ex-Marine and her from a military family with her brothers (the owners of Orion). Logan talked about the loneliness and betrayal of being in the military and how relationships are hard when you’re gone all the time and then come back to your heart broken from a girl who wasn’t able to hang with the life. As a military spouse (retired), I’ve experienced being the one “left behind” while your spouse is out saving the world and not knowing what may come of each deployment/mission; what parts of them are chipped away from their experience there, their personality changes, etc. It takes a strong person to keep the relationship together and handle the military life. Cadie brings this understanding and is the equal to Logan.

It was a kind of an insta-love read, but I’m not unhappy with that. They just clicked and knew they had the person they wanted to be with. The steam and frustration begins right off the bat with Cadie not wanting to date someone who works with her brothers and Logan with not wanting to mess with his best friends’ sister. Then, you are finally rewarded with a 🔥 first time! Logan is both possessive and in-tune with Cadie and wants to cater to her needs before finding his own release in true “beast in the sheets”. He’s truly 🫠 every time he says “Darlin”.

Although some parts of the story seem abruptly introduced and then end just as fast, it doesn’t necessarily take away from the book, just makes me want more. It flows well and leads up nicely to the groundwork for Book 2.

You’ll definitely enjoy this read and I’m looking forward to Book 2!

This is the first book in a standalone series of the OPS (Orion Protection Service). What could be better than ex marines turned hired bodyguards?! And did I mention they are hot as sin?! 😉🔥

This story follows caddie and Logan’s story of meeting after many years of caddie brothers trying. Logan is not looking for any woman to be in his life. He’d rather live alone, in his solitary oasis in the woods, but caddie will turn that whole world upside down.

Caddie is a city corporate woman who has worked hard to get where she is. Kept her distance with her brothers since they lost their parents. She can’t afford to let anyone to truly get close to her broken pieces.

Fate has other plans for these two. When they get thrown together because of some not so wonderful circumstances Caddies older brother John has gotten mixed up with. It’s Logan’s one job to keep caddie safe. But is that from the cartel at their heels or him? He can’t seem to co tell himself around her and keep his head focused on anything but her curves, smell, and taste.

Plenty of spice and a super easy read! 😉🔥🔥🔥❤️

“Captured” (Orion Protection Book #1) is Skylar Kingsley’s debut novel. Themes of friendship, love, loyalty and family all mingle together for a great story. Let’s also not forget that she gives this book plenty of spice and romance along the way. Book #1 gives us the background of how Orion Protection Service (OPS) came to be and gives us a brief introduction into several characters. This particular book focuses on Logan, who was a marine, and Cadie, who is the sister of the man who began OPS. Logan is loyal, dedicated and loves to cook but is reserved when it comes to women due to his past relationship. He’s now certain that he’s meant to be alone. Cadie is an independent woman trying to make her own way in life away from her brothers. She has dated men who have been boring and left her unsatisfied. Not to mention that her brothers haven’t liked any of them. The storyline has twists and turns that keep it interesting and begging you to read “just one more chapter” every time. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Umm.. HELLO! 😍

I am not normally one for ex marines etc (just not my average go too..) but daamn! This was fire from start to finish! 🔥 From reserved quiet Logan, dealing with the brunt of a horrible ex and returning to civilisation and his role at Orion security warding off a pushy client.. to being struck by Cupid the instant he meets Cadie his bosses sister.. the intensity of the job that unveils and how Logan stands at no odds to protect Cadie whilst trying to battle off their attraction is incredible the scenes are written perfectly to the point I feel like I’ve just watched it in real time.. Cadie over coming her loss by admitting she is too a badass like her brothers John and Alex and joining the family in the security business protecting those who need it most and finding her home with Logan and the Orion team.. amazing I loved the brotherhood bond by all those involved and the love they all share.. simply outstanding!

hot steamy marine

“I’m like a d@mn Cadie compass. Every time she walks by my d!ck points at her. It’s got me on edge.”

This was a great first book to the series. I don't usually read military romances but this book has me hooked now. We have a marine and his best friends/coworkers younger sister who have an instant attraction. Can’t get more forbidden romance then that now can we? Logan tries to stay away but he can’t control his desire and need for Cadie especially when he is having to play bodyguard to keep her safe. Things get heated with these two and I'm here for it! Loved this book and can’t wait to read more by this author and I'm so happy I came across her on tiktok.

This book was a great read. I was looking to for something different to read and this was it. I haven’t read a book like this in awhile. I had a hard time putting it down and being productive. Cadie is the little sister to Logan’s boss and coworkers. He is everything she has avoided. She does not want to be with any guys like her brothers. They meet at a Christmas party and have that instant connection. Some stuff happens and Logan and Cadie end up together so Logan can keep her safe. Logan is loyal to a fault and puts Cadies safety as number 1 priority. How well does that work while fighting the growing attraction? Read and find out!

Skylar is a MUST ADD to your TBR

Ladies! We have one hell of an author in the mix. Skylar Kingsley has hit the ground with her debut book. Captured is everything you could possibly want to read and it is so well written. Laugh, cry, get angry, and cheer on some Marines! This book is a must read. Logan and the entire OPS crew are swoon worthy and Cadie finally gets it. This is the start of a beautiful lovefest for me with one Ms Skylar Kingsley! Excellent book, must read, you will not be disappointed!

Captured (Book 1)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶️🌶️🌶️
📍Debut novel
📍Military Vet MMC
📍Romantic suspense
📍Best friend's sister

He's a former corps guy working for his buddy's private protection company. She's his boss's little sister. Hands off dude!

Insta-love? Yes, but when you know you know! He does his best to stay away but it's kinda hard to do when you're in a forced proximity bodyguard situation. Things can happen. Hot steamy things!

Logan in an alpha with a heart of gold that needs mending. Caddie is a strong-willed temptation he can't resist.

This was my first military romance and I have to say I love it!! Captured is the first book I’ve read from @ and I love her already! This is a slow burn about ex military men that have become body guards. I loved all the characters and especially loved Logan 😍 I truly felt all of the raw emotions! I can’t wait to read the second book!! 4⭐️s and a fun fact that Skylar shared with me is that her covers are real life marines!!

Tropes:
💚 Ex military
💚 Bodyguard
💚 Slow burn
💚 Brothers best friend
💚 Forced proximity
💚 Dual POV

First I loved that Skylar pulled from real life marines for her story. I love all the tropes in this book and it didn’t disappoint. Logan and Cadie were so good together. This brings you a love story with the suspense and action from a mission that follows them home putting the entire group especially Cadie in danger. Well paced and great characters. Looking forward to more from the OPS crew.

Ready for more (there's a spoiler in this review.)

Looking forward to further "reads" from Sky liar Kingsley. "Captured" was well edited. I occasionally find steamy scenes such that they're fast forwarded through. Wanted to see character and storyline development more than heat. Good for a first time effort.
Any author that brings attention to Trafficking has my support. Never more important to be aware of as it is now - Feb 2023.

I absolutely loved this book! As a wife to a disable vet this book hits differently. Marines are always family. Once a Marine always marine. It was beautifully written with no grammar errors that I saw. I can’t wait for the second book and think I found my next favorite author. Amazing work.

Logan is definitely swoon worthy. Definitely one of my favorite book boyfriends. I can’t wait to see more about them in the future.

Action packed, undeniable sexiness, off the charts chemistry this book has it all. Logan and Cadie’s story was one that I dove into and didn’t come up for air until the end. Full of emotions, family/brotherly bonds I devoured this and can’t wait for more. We all need an OPS guy in our life because holy hotness!!! Total swooning over here.

What a great beginning to this series and giving us those glimpses of the future characters. I can’t wait to read more from this new author. It’s missing one star because of the front cover I’m going to say that if I was looking through my Kindle for a book to read it would not have called to me. Imo

excellent start to the series

This book is the start of a series and thus has to set the scene, introduce the characters and set up the background picture and it manages beautifully. Logan and Cadie are really well drawn and enable the story to crack on at a fair pace. Plenty of other people make an appearance so there is room to grow. Highly entertaining.

Hot Military Men

This was my first military read and I absolutely loved it! The men of Orion are 🔥 completely bad a** with some touch her and 💀 vibes! The FMC ended up being surprisingly kick a** herself! I definitely enjoyed the chemistry between Logan and Cadie! It was more of a slow burn, but it was still 🥵 spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

Good start to a new series. Characters have chemistry, and there’s lots of action. I look forward to the fleshing out of characters as they get their own story, and coming back to visit Logan and Cadie than.

This was a fun escape, slow burn but hot scenes and lots of action. It was a fun change from my normal genres but surprised me in a lot of ways for a “romance”— was more action/plot than I anticipated. Looking forward to the next one!

Hot debut!

I really enjoyed this debut from Skylar Kingsley. It had everything that I enjoy in a book- a strong alpha hero, a heroine who is no shrinking violet, plenty of heat and a bit of danger. I will definitely be reading more from this author.
