From USA Today Bestselling Author Madeline Martin comes the exciting conclusion of her steamy, suspenseful Borderland Rebels series where dangerous lands yield dangerous rebels...
HIS HONOR IS WITHOUT QUESTION… Drake Fletcher has spent his entire life keeping his family safe, but has always clung to the desire to become a knight, like his father. Despite prejudices working against him and a country at war, his dreams may finally be within his grasp. But his journey to knighthood is interrupted by a woman with flashing green eyes and a sharp wit, one who has found a way to waver the most stoic of men.
HER HONOR IS IN QUESTION… Greer MacPherson’s brother has been arrested and though she suspects foul play, no one will bother to listen. Not when she is a woman of such little consequence. In order to save him, she must resort to the skills she’s had to rely on most of their lives: scheming and a sleight of hand. But when a heroic warrior rescues her, she finds she’s not only drawn to his ability to keep her safe on the road, the man of such lofty morals also makes her thoughts turn wicked.
CAN LOVE BE THEIR COMMON GROUND? Where one sees honor, the other sees deceit. Even as passion ignites between them, so too does betrayal. But amid a maelstrom of danger and lies, can love sway the scales of justice?

Goodness Gracious Me! I have been waiting for Drake’s book through two whole series and I am so very glad it is finally here and that he has such an awesome wrap-up for the series. With the buildup of so much anticipation, an author can only hit a grand-slam-home-run or strike-out, nothing in between the two. I can happily say this is a grand-slam-home-run and I am so glad to have read it. Having said all of that, if you have not read any of the previous books, you can read this as a stand-alone and not miss a beat. But, if you read the other books first, your experience will be so much more colorful and rich.
At long last, Drake has the opportunity to become a knight. King David has given him a two-fold assignment and upon the successful completion of the main part of that mission, the king will bestow a knighthood on Drake. That is the one thing Drake has sought after and worked for his entire life. Drake is absolutely the noblest of men – nobody is more honorable, more moral, or more upstanding than Drake. His morality has cost him jobs and friends over the years, but his moral compass hasn’t ever wavered. Even though he isn’t officially a knight, he has been assigned a squire, Beathan (Bean) MacKenzie. Bean is every bit as moral and strait-laced as Drake, so they get along famously. Bean only knows the ‘public’ part of Drake’s mission – to travel to Lochmaben Castle and train the new recruits the king has sent to the castle as reinforcements. The secret part, discovering the cause of death of Lady Eileen, is known only to Drake.
Greer MacPherson is in a total panic because her very young brother (about twelve) has been locked in the dungeon at Lochmaben Castle – and it has been a month now. She isn’t allowed to see him and he is under heavy guard. What could a poor, innocent, young boy have done to receive such punishment? Greer is afraid she knows the answer – Mac (her brother) surely saw what happened with the dead woman from the castle and somebody is trying to keep him quiet. Or, are they blaming him? Greer has walked all the way from Lochmaben Castle to Dunfermline Castle to try to speak with the king on behalf of her brother, but she wasn’t even allowed entry. Now, she must find fifty quid in order to bribe a guard at Lochmaben Castle. That is what he told her it would cost her to ‘rescue’ her brother. She’s is a laundress, where is she going to get that kind of money. Well, her plan is simple – she’ll steal it on her way back to Lochmaben. She’s an excellent thief, surely, she can pick enough pockets along the way home to raise the money.
Of course, Drake and Greer encounter each other under less than desirable circumstances. Drake wants to help Greer and Greer sees Drake as a mark. Greer thinks they are as different as two people could possibly be, but Drake knows they are more alike than different. When things go horribly awry at Lochmaben, will Drake be able to give up his lifelong dream to save Greer and Mac? Even if he is willing, can he actually do it?
This was a beautifully written, fast-paced, breath-holding, sigh-worthy read and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did. It has an Epilogue that perfectly wraps up the series, ties up all of the loose ends, and catches us up with all of Drake’s family on the Isle of Skye. This book was everything I could have hoped Drake’s book would be. Kudos to the author.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Greer MacPherson is frantic, her young brother Mac has been taken prisoner by the Earl of Calver and Greer has no idea why. When she finally tracked him to the castle, she was forbidden from seeing him and sent away. She managed to speak to one of his guards and for the astronomical price of 50 Marks, the guard would be willing to release Mac to her. Greer has no money, she barely makes enough taking in laundry to support her and Mac, so she sets out to Dumferline Castle to ask the king for help. But when she is refused an audience with the king, she knows she will have no choice but to pay the bribe and that the only way to get the money is to return to a life of petty theft that she worked so hard to leave.
After years of working towards his goal of becoming a knight, Drake Fletcher’s dream is finally within reach! The king has asked him to go undercover at Lochmaben Castle, the seat of the Earl of Calver to learn the truth about the death of Lady Eileen, the daughter of one of the king's closest advisors. And as his reward, the king has promised to knight Drake upon the completion of the mission! It is everything he has ever wanted and he quickly accepts the assignment. His cover will be that he is being sent to train the earl’s guards in defense of the castle. He is also being given a squire, even though he is not yet a knight. But he soon learns the squire is not really a bonus, Beathan aka Bean, is small for his age and is quite vocal in his observations and uptight in his morals. But since Drake values honor above all else, Bean is a perfect fit for him. He and Bean are preparing to leave when Drake notices a lovely lass with auburn hair and striking green eyes, he is drawn to her, but quickly reminds himself of his mission. But moments later when he sees the same lass being accosted by a man, he immediately intervenes.
He convinces her to travel with them, hoping to protect her, but Greer has never had someone offer to help her without an ulterior motive and is sure he is only biding time before he demands recompense for his help. Greer agrees, but plots to not only lose Drake on the road but to leave his company richer to boot. But Drake is no fool and easily thwarts her plan, but to her surprise, he still offers his help. Can she risk her brother’s life on Drake’s honor? And will he be willing to forsake his honor to help the woman he has against all odds come to love?
Drake has been a character I have wondered about since he was introduced in the first book of the previous series and finally we get his story! This is a well-written, nicely-paced story featuring two people that seem like complete opposites, yet have more in common than either believes. Their story will grab you and hold you in thrall until the very last word, as it is filled with secrets, lies, murder, honor, betrayal, wonderful secondary characters, steamy love scenes, a love that is willing to forsake the dreams of a lifetime, second chances and an ending that is completely satisfying and will definitely make you smile. This is the final book in the series and could be read as a standalone title with no issues, but for the best reader experience, I would highly recommend reading the series in order.

Drake Fletcher has spent his entire life keeping his family safe, but has always clung to the desire to become a knight, like his English father. Despite being half english, his dreams may finally be within his grasp. He’s sent by King David to a border castle to train the garrison & also investigate the death of Lady, his journey to knighthood is interrupted by a woman with flashing green eyes and a sharp wit, one who has found a way to waver the most stoic of men. Greer MacPherson’s young brother Mac has been arrested and though she suspects foul play, no one will bother to listen. At last the book I’ve been waiting for through not one but two series. As I started it I wondered if it would live up to my expectations. It not only lived up to them but surpassed them. I've loved Drake for what seems like forever & I loved his own story & that he found someone worthy. I also loved Greer who was willing to do whatever it takes to free Mac. The road to their HEA wasn’t easy but it made for an absolutely riveting read, which I devoured. I also loved Bean & the epilogue was absolutely brilliant a beautiful finale to the series My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Since his father was killed when he was still a boy, Drake Fletcher has worked to keep his mother and three sisters safe, all the while hoping to earn the title of knight like his father. Given his half-English, half-Scottish heritage and the constant warring between the two countries, he’s had many obstacles to overcome but now he finally has an opportunity to achieve his dream. But his journey is impeded by a woman with lovely eyes and an inherent sense of mistrust that stirs something even in highly stoic Drake.
Greer MacPherson is trying to free her younger brother from what she believes is wrongful imprisonment, but no one will listen to her given her lack of consequence. To have any hope of saving him, she must call on her skills at deception and theft, as she has many times in her life. When she’s rescued from a tight spot by a handsome warrior, she finds herself irrevocably drawn, not just because of his good looks, but also because of his strength and steadfast morals.
As Drake and Greer grow close, their fragile trust is threatened by danger and betrayal and justice may not fall in their favor.
Drake has been one of my favorite characters throughout this whole series and his HEA was much anticipated for me. I found myself a bit skeptical of Greer at first and wishing she’d confided in Drake sooner, but her skepticism and distrust only made his honorable character stand out all the more. Drake was an excellent hero and seeing him prevail in the end was very satisfying. I loved the neat way everything came together in the end and left me feeling satisfied after the emotion of the story. The fast pace of this book held my attention, and I loved the characters, but most especially Drake having a chance to shine. This was a great conclusion to one of my favorite series and I’m sad to see it end.
It’s so good to see Drake find love, he’s been the rock that’s held his family safe and food on the table for years, now it’s his turn to find that very special someone.
I found this book very enjoyable to read, it was easy on the eyes, and the brain as I’ve read the others in the series’s. It’s also quite emotional both because of the wonderful story and the fact that their are no more.
I was really satisfied with the ending. Characters were good as always and there’s a lovely surprise at the end. My lips are sealed.
I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review
Scotland 1342 A sigh worthy Story that this author does so well!
Drake was everything a potential knight should be. Honorable, trustworthy, kind and handsome (ok I had to throw that in!) Now he finally had the chance to be knighted, if he could carry out the King's wishes and find out what really happened to Lady Eileen, who had be found dead, foul play suspected.
Greer was desperate. He younger brother had been taken and locked up and she needed to get him out. The problem was, she needed money to pay one of the guards to release him, so she fell back to what she knew best.. stealing.
When Drake comes to her aid, when accosted by a man (ok she snatched his money purse! What's a girl to do?) it seems she has found another mark and attempts to steal his sword!
A marvelous adventure as these two come together aided by a cast of characters, including delightful Bean, and try to find their way to true love! Perfect!
Drake's Honor Borderland Rebels #4 Madeline Martin ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Drake Fletcher has always wanted to be a knight. To obtain knighthood has always been his ultimate goal. He has spent his life keeping his family safe. All of the things his father would have done had he been alive. Even though he has had to battle through prejudices and a country at war his dream of becoming a knight may finally be within his grasp. But then his whole life is turned upside down by a woman with beautiful green eyes and a very sharp wit, one who has found a way to waver one of the most stoic of men.
Greer MacPherson's little brother has been arrested and not one person will listen to her while she tries to explain why she suspects that he is not guilty and foul play has to be involved. She feels like she's a nobody, just a pheasant and that is why she's being ignored. In order to save him, she is going to have to resort to the skills she's had to rely on for most of their lives: scheming and stealing. But when a heroic warrior rescues her, she finds she is drawn to him for more then his help in keeping her safe on the road. A man who has the morals of a Saint, but also has the power make her thoughts turn to the wicked side of things.
Can these two people who are as different as day and night find love and common ground? Or will they just be too different to be able to stay together?
Wow Madeline Martin ends this series with a bang. This book had me mesmerized from the moment I opened it up until the last word was read and I could breath again. This story felt so real to me. I felt like I was part of it. I have read all of the books in the series, but I think this one is my favorite. I can only say you need to read this. There is a surprising part that I really didn't see coming. Reading this book was like coming home for me. Ms. Martin once again you have outdone yourself and given us the gift of your writing and I for one will treasure it for a long time to come.
Drake has been summoned to the king to solve a murder and hopefully to earn his Knighthood. There is more to the report that what was said. He has to go undercover in the guise of training the new warriors of the Lord who knows more about the death of Lady Eileen Androll. So with his would be squire Beathan, known as Bean, they set off to Lochmaben Castle.
Greer has done everything she can to protect her little brother, Mac. When Mac gets thrown in the dungeon at Castle Lochmaben, she will do anything to get him out. When the king refuses to see her, it leaves only one option. A guard offers to release Mac for 50 marks.
When Drake sees Greer steal an item he knows despair when he sees it. He offers her a meal an escort south with him and Bean. Greer keeps as much information as she can to herself once Drake let's her know he will be training the new guards at the castle.
With the growing attraction between Greer and Drake can the past be the key to bringing these two together. Will Greer get her brother out of will she join him. Will Drake figure out what Greer is hiding or help her?
Travel back to when knights were the best of men and protectors of the realm. Enjoy the antics of a reluctant woman trying to stay on the right side. Bring a killer to justice and find true love.
Drake’s Honor, Madeline Martin. This was an absolutely lovely, romantic story. The romance is so well written. The joining of Drake and Greer as a couple was written so beautifully. As always, this author gives her readers a story that can easily carry away their imaginations. I loved how the book for me feels like it was a movie that played out so well in my mind. I think the easy reading of the book helped with that, as well as the drama, which was awesome by the way. The stories plot was fantastic. All the characters are proud people who cared for all who entered their lives. The book was very entertaining. The romance between Drake and Greer provided the book with the entertainment of a steamy love affair. The writer did a brilliant job with this book. Until next time my fellow readers… read on!
MADELINE MARTIN AT HER BEST!!! Drake's Honor is book 4 in the Borderland Rebels series and oh what a series. Though in a series this book can be read as a standalone however I recommend reading all of them they are that good. Madeline has a way of bring a character to life and it is so hard to believe these character are fiction. Truly Amazing! I could not put this book down and it was one of those stories that you are sad when it ended. I believe that Madeline’s books just keep getting better and better and she is an up and raising star. I can’t say enough about this book. This story has a thief, wrongful imprisonment, doing whatever needs to be done to rescue, honesty, a good man who dreams of becoming a knight, mistrust, kindness, a squire named Bean who’s is just too adorable and honest, evil, death, murder, an investigation and find love and trust. This book has it all and I highly recommend you read this story… You won’t be disappointed.
**This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Madeline Martin is hands-down, one of my favorite authors be it through one of her medieval stories or her WWII novel, “The Last Bookshop In London”. “ Drake's Honor”, book 4 is the perfect conclusion to the Borderland Rebels Series!
Drake Fletcher is the perfect example of the chivalrous, noble and honorable knight who is a man of strength, compassion and understanding. And yet he is not yet knighted though it’s been his life’s goal, his dream and now it’s within his grasp. Summoned by the king to go undercover in the pretense of training the new warriors of the Lord at Lochmaben Castle to investigate the suspicious death of Lady Eileen Androll. In completing his mission he hopes to earn his knighthood. The King has of course provided him a trusted sidekick, Beathan aka Bean, his squire. With knighthood within his grasp he sets out on his mission and then he sees the beautiful auburn haired Greer being accosted and he has to save her.
Greer MacPherson is a young woman whom fate has not dealt a kind hand. She is strong, determined and resourceful when need be. She makes an honest living taking in laundry to take care of herself and her young brother of 12 years, Mac who has been taken prisoner by the Earl of Calver. She tried to have him freed and one of his guards told her for 50 marks he’d release him to her. Of course this was impossible considering how little she earns. When she failed in her efforts to speak to the King about it she sets out to get the money the only way she knew how, by stealing it. Having failed in her efforts and being accosted for trying she is saved by Drake but she’s determined to get the 50 marks so she agrees to travel with him. Having never found a reason to trust a man Greer is reticent to trust Drake but can’t help being drawn to him.
The characters are so well written and defined they come off the pages and pull you into this emotional ride that keeps you involved until the very end.
The author has masterfully woven a story where the chemistry sparks and love conquers even the most scarred of hearts. She’s so articulate and the dialogue and interactions between characters is just wonderful.
Her imagery is vivid and paints a brilliant picture in your imagination. I just fell in love with Drake, this sigh worthy hero and like him I could see and understand the desperation that drove Greer. This is such an amazing, action packed story, so beautifully written and wonderfully told that at times it takes your breath away.
Thank you Ms. Martin, you have a lovely way of transporting the reader to another place and time.
It took me awhile to feel a connection to the H/h. But as the story progressed so did their relationship. I loved the honor of not only the H but his almost squire Bean. Bean was a slight built 14 year old who no one liked because he was also very honorable. The H and Bean were cut from a similar cloth and I enjoyed how he looked at life.
This story has suspense, twists and great dialogue. When you read this author’s stories everything happens slowly so you can savor the experience -like peeling an onion.
The h has a secret and I was upset with her from keeping it from the H. Especially after she realizes he’s the most honorable man she will ever meet and would gladly help her. I dislike secrets kept with a passion. But, near the end she explains why she did and it finally made sense.
There is lovemaking, outside of marriage and heat level 3.5 out of 5 and only described twice briefly.
The last few chapter’s are heart ponding and things are revealed that surprised me -in a good way. Great epilogue a few years in the future.
No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, some romance and a tad of spice. I’ve read the whole series and this is a stand alone. After you get a taste of this story you will want to read more of these great character’s. I enjoyed how we get a chance to meet up with the character’s from previous stories-icing on the cake!
I received an early copy. All opinions are my own and freely given. (ljb)
What a Fantastic ending to an Awesome series, Boarderland Rebels. The opening scenes will catch your attention and it will not let you go till the very end of the book. Drake's Honor weaves a story from beginning to end with threads of intrigue, mystery, and murder as a web is spun by a villainous traitor that will hold you spellbound from the moment you begin the journey with Greer and Drake until the very end! Madeline Martin has written a heart stopping story that is filled with tension-building twist, filled with characters that come off the pages and pulls you into their tale, that is smoothly written, with a superb plott, and great dialogue. Setting descriptions and action sequences are wonderfully vivid which brings this read together perfectly. Just like "that" Greer finds herself in one big mess! As she is caught stealing and Drake comes to rescue. To Drake truth and honor means everything, but he understands desperation also. As they find themselves journeying together their story unfolds beautifully with drama, passion, danger, angst, trials and tribulations, turmoil and as the suspense builds and tensions escalate with uncertainties abound that will keep you guessing until the end in this outstanding story!
Drake Fletcher wanted to be a knight so bad, just like his father. They were thrown into poverty when his dad died while in battle. He was a commoner and had to work twice as hard as anyone else but for him it was worth it. Greer took care of her brother, Mac. All they had were each other. One day he was playing in the meadow, and it started getting late and he had not come home yet. She started looking for him. She finally found out he was in the dungeon, and no one knew what for. This is a wonderful story of knights, strong women, and grand deeds. A young woman has been killed. Her father knows it was a nefarious deed. The king wants to know what happened. So, Drake is sent and with a promise of knighthood at the end. He meets a beautiful girl and along with his squire they head off together. There is some banter between the two adults and Bean is always worried about the right of things. It is full of adventure, travel and finding her brother. It is beautifully written, with a great cast of characters. It is not only exciting, but the book keeps you interested and looking forward to more. I highly recommend this novel and hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I received this ARC from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.
Confession: when Drake was first introduced at the beginning of the last series, I knew he'd have his own book, and I didn't want anything to do with it. Most heroes who are chivalrous have a tendency to be narrow-minded and downright sanctimonious. However, in Drake, Madeline Martin has created a dream hero: moral, protective, giving, and loving. He didn't start off that way, but Drake has developed throughout two series from an ambitious wannabe knight to a selfless and loving brother and partner. This transformation is in part due to Greer, a young lady who teaches him how to be more flexible and what is really important in life.
Their romance is one you'll root for from the beginning. The novel can stand alone, but you'll appreciate it more if you've read the other books in the series. Thank you, Madeline, for creating an alpha hero who is absolutely swoon-worthy without being a womanizer. This is one of the most enjoyable romances that I have read in a long time.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I absolutely loved this book. I've been looking forward to reading Drake's story for while and this did not disappoint. This is the last of the Borderland Rebels series, but you don't have to read the previous books to enjoy this one. Although I recommend reading the previous ones, and the Borderland Ladies series that Drake is also in, just because they are all great romantic adventures that you'll want to read.
Drake is on a mission for his King that will finally earn him his right to become the knight he has always wanted to be. Bean a young lad as honorable as Drake is sent with him as his squire. Meanwhile Greer is on a mission to save her brother the only way she know how, which is stealing to get the money needed. When she meets up with Drake and Bean, it takes her a while to realize that there really are people that are honorable and will help her; and that there are other ways to save her brother than stealing.
This was a wonderful romantic adventure and I loved how Greer and Drake, who seemed to be opposites, made such a good couple, and brought out the best in each other. I also love how this series was concluded with his sisters, mother and grandfather; with an awesome surprise at the end. This is one of those books that you won't want to put it down once you start reading; and I highly recommend it.
I was given an ARC, but am voluntarily giving my honest review.
The Borderland Rebels Series has been an exciting, action packed, romantic series and having read about Drake throughout the series it is wonderful to finally have his story. Drake is such an amazing character. He is truly the embodiment of a perfect hero and the definition of what a knight should be. On the other hand Greer is feisty, willing to lie, steal and do just about anything to achieve her goal, though her intentions are for a worthy cause. I absolutely loved Drake and Greer together and enjoyed the development of their story. Bean and Mac added a lot to the storyline as well and I fell in love with all of these wonderful characters. The epilogue was marvelous and much appreciated since this was the conclusion of the series. I highly recommend this book and, if you haven’t already read the other books in the series, I definitely recommend that you do so as they are all spectacular. Thank you Ms Martin for yet another opportunity to read another one of your outstanding stories.
An emotionally driven story that acts like a spinning whirlwind along with discovering love. Both character's have had distressful paths while younger. I really liked Drake and his code of honor. Her not so much. She took me awhile, but she did come through Drake is now an honorable warrior on his way hopefully to become a knight. The king has sent him on a dangerous secret mission. Greer is a downtrodden lass with light fingers who needs to rescue her younger brother. She is extremely devious, manipulative and cunning. The two cross paths and from there their journey if filled with lots of turmoil, excitement, danger, along with a growing attraction which turns into endearing love for each other. A few intimate scenes that are quite steamy. The ending is very intense which had me captivated and when the king spoke to Drake I finally let out a relived breath. Drakes squire Bean was a joy. A family reunion was heartfelt and full of love The very ending was a surprise and the epilogue was wonderful for all had a HEA.
Drake's dream is to follow in his English father's footsteps as a knight. His mother is Scottish and a widow. To fulfill his dream, he serves Scotland's King David. The King tasks him on a mission to solve the death of a nobleman's daughter who was a lady-in-waiting at Lord Calver's castle. Once he discovers the truth he will be knighted. Greer McPherson is desperate to help her brother. He's only twelve, but he's in Lord Calver's dungeon. She needs money for a bribe. With stealing as her only option, she is caught but saved by Derek and his squire, Bean. Drake refuses to compromise his honor, but it's not easy when he's attracted to Greer and wants to help. Trust works both ways. Maybe helping each other will solve the death of a maiden. Drake is absolutely knight material even though he has a secret past. Greer is one strong determined lady. They complete each other. And Bean....he is a vital part to the story. When my husband asks if it's a good book, I know he's asking because he lost my attention. I think that says it's definitely a recommended read!
Drake Fletcher has spent his entire life keeping his family safe and bringing honor to the family name, he has a strict honor code he lives by. Drake has been waiting for the opportunity to be knighted after he successfully completes his latest mission of finding the truth behind a noble woman death. Commoner Greer MacPherson is in a total panic because her twelve brother young brother Mac has been locked in the dungeon at Lochmaben Castle and she’s desperate to get him out, she fears he’s witness a murder of a noble woman. She’s tried to speak to the king, but to no avail she’s not be allowed entry. Drake comes to her rescue after she tried to rob a nobleman. Drake wants to help Greer, but in the end can he give up his dream of being a knight? Can love conquer all as they search to find the truth to have her brother released or him knighted by the king? A great ending to the series!! I voluntarily read and reviewed this excellent book.
The title of my review is a book full of Wonderful because it is full of wonderful characters, a wonderful plot, a wonderful/honorable message, just wonderful everything.
Drake is the perfect hero; he's moral, honorable, loving, family oriented, and flat out sexy.
Greer is also honorable, family oriented, and beautiful; she's also moral but in a different way than Drake.
When these two meet it's instant chemistry, passion, and a love story for the ages. These two people are written with depth and in a realistic way that allows you to feel as if you're watching them in person; you feel what they feel, you cheer for them, cry for them, rage for them, and ultimately sigh when they find their HEA.
5/5🌟
I received an ARC of this book and am volunteering an honest review.
Oh my this is the 4th book in this series and wow just wow I’ve loved each and every book. Drakes story hit out of the park he spent his life after his father’s death protecting his mother and sister and working to become and English Knight which was a lot harder than he thought it’d be. His father was English and his mother was a daughter of a high ranking Scottish Laird. Drake put himself in the line of fire to protect his sister. He gives up on becoming an English Knight and starts to work for the king of Scotland. He’s sent on a mission and if he completes the mission he’ll become a Scottish Knight will he finally be a knight and will he find the love his sisters have. This authors books are always in my top ten can’t wait to see what this author has for us next
Drake finally gets his happy ending after sacrificing to ensure his sisters got theirs and were settled with wonderful men. His only goal is to become Knighted which is finally now within reach. Greer is a young peasant woman alone and desperately trying to rescue her twelve year old brother from harm. The characterization of Greer is extremely poignant. You can feel her desperation pouring off the pages as she tries to find a way to save her brother. The author also does a great job showcasing the characters of Drake and Bean. Bean becomes the lighter side of the very stoic Drake. I was also thrilled for the surprise involving the parents that was thrown in at the end which made for a great family ending.
A well written story that has so many interesting characters. Drake has worked so hard to become a knight and chooses honor and quiet strength to deal with what life throws him. Greer has had to be tough and resilient nearly her entire life for she has been left to raise her younger brother Mac. Beathen or Bean is Drake's squire and they are off to Lochmaben to uncover a murderer. They meet Greer who is trying to save her brother Mac from the dungeon after he witnessed the murder. Greer does not trust easily and Drake is challenged by Bean to help her. The challenges they face, how they work around them and Drake being arrested makes for an eventful story.
Truly the book one has been waiting for. Having seen all of Drake's sisters find their husbands, and settling down, it's finally his turn. Greer was an absolute delight. Her inner strength, loyalty and honour were a perfect match for Drake. I enjoyed her resourcefulness in wrangling what was required at different stages of the story, from pastries gifted by a baker to managing an audience with the king. Truly enjoyed the story.
Drake has always wanted to become a knight, like his father. Now it is his chance to fullfill his life long dream.
The King sends him under cover to Lochmaben castle to discover who is responsible for Lady Eieen's death. Drake and his a squire, Beathann (Bean) are on the way there when they meet up with Greer. Greer is desperate to find and save her kidnapped brother.
Drake feels very protective of her, even after he finds out that she has been stealing, he suggests she travels with him and Bean.
Will Greer finally open up and tell Drake the truth.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review. Martin is seriously one of the best historical romance authors. I have read all of Drake’s siblings’ stories and finally we got his story. This book has a Robin Hood vibe. You have thievery for the right reasons. You have two good natured teenagers, good men, and a strong heroine. I love Drake with Greer. I liked her determination and the love she found herself in. I highly recommend this book!
Drake is the man we all want to be with. He is honest, caring and a real hero. He has struggled since he was a young man to be a man his father would be proud of. He spent most of his time trying to support his mom and sisters. When he meets Greer, all he can think about is she needs help and she brings all the old memories back of the times he went without because he was caring for his family. I really liked this book because it makes you hurt for both of them and wonder how they will deal with the memories they both have.
Drake is on his way to becoming a knight but a pretty little thief may put a kink in it. Especially when he starts to fall in love with her. Greer is a poor woman who steals so she can get her little brother out of prison. She is very distrustful and she can't believe someone could care for her like Drake does. Its not until she can put her trust in him that she can save her brother and hopefully not ruin Drake's knighthood. I received an advanced copy and my review is voluntary.
What a beautiful love story. I love this author. Madeline Martin books are a must read. I could not put this book down especially when it is so close to home. The character's are amazing, fun and always an ending happily ever after. If you enjoy love stories with characters that are born with wealth and born with just the clothes on their backs then this is the book for you. Happy reading 5 +++++++
