Author Sandra Brown returns with a fast-paced, emotional thriller where the lives of a young mother and a high-rolling consultant collide under devastating circumstances—culminating in a desperate manhunt that will change their futures forever.
At a Texas county fair, amidst carousels and a bustling midway, children’s book author Elle Portman is enjoying a rare night out with her favorite cowboy: her two-year-old son, Charlie. But just as they’re about to head home, the unthinkable happens: a shooter opens fire into the crowd, causing widespread panic to erupt all around them.
Also caught in the melee was corporate consultant Calder Hudson. Arrogant, self-centered, and high off his latest career win, he’s frustrated and confused when he wakes up in the hospital after undergoing emergency surgery on his arm. The doctor tells him that he was lucky—that as far as gunshot wounds go, he pulled through remarkably well. Others weren’t so lucky, which instills in Calder a furious determination to get justice . . . a goal shared by Elle.
Their chance encounter at the police station leads to a surprising and inexplicable gravitation to one another, but even as the attraction grows, Elle and Calder can’t help but wonder if the unimaginable tragedy that brought them together is too painful and too complicated to sustain—especially while the shooter remains at large.

After enjoying SB's novel Overkill last year, I was excited about her new romantic suspense. This one deals with mass shooting.
Unfortunately for me (outlier ✋), I didn't feel much for the characters, especially the mother who lost her child in the shooting. I don't think she does either. I felt this part was sort of glossed over and went into steamy romance which felt more awkward with the plot.
Friends love this and the ratings are good, so probably just me.
Love Kyf Brewer, the narrator, so there's that. 🥰🎧
I will say it again - these newer books by SB are nowhere as good as her 'older' books. A good read and she will always be an auto-buy for me BUT, like another favourite author, either I am getting a bit jaded or the author is - this is the second 'auto-buy' author that left me feeling a little indifferent ...
Sexy hero, smart heroine - twist that I did NOT see coming but, in a way, it was a little 'eye-rolling'. It was between three and four stars but will give it FOUR - saw some review where it said 'her best yet' ... mmmm? Don't think so but I guess we all take different things from books - some books that my friends have loved, I haven't really cared for them and vice versa.
I’m sorry but I can’t believe a woman who loses her 2 year old son would that quickly get into a relationship with a man who has a clear bullet wound that will forever remind her of her deceased son. The writing couldn’t convince me at all. I usually love this author and highly recommend her other books!!
OUT OF NOWHERE by Sandra Brown is an intense romantic suspense/crime thriller that begins with a random mass shooting that leaves physical and mental devastation in its wake. Out of the devastation, two of the survivors come together only to discover they still have more to fear.
Elle Portman writes children’s books and is the single mom of two-year-old, Charlie. She meets her best friend, Glenda, for a fun afternoon at the county fair. As Charlie begins to fuss, Elle decides it’s time to leave for home. The exit is congested, and Charlie is in full meltdown as shots ring out throughout the crowded midway. Elle loses control of Charlie’s stroller.
Calder Hudson is a slick, arrogant, and successful business consultant on a high after finishing a prosperous job. He is less happy about meeting his TV reporter girlfriend at the county fair. After clearing the entry gate, shots ring out and Calder recognizes what is happening and shouts for people to hit the ground. As he attempts to stop a runaway stroller, he is shot and loses conciseness as his head hits the ground.
Both Elle and Calder are determined to get justice and are shocked when the detectives tell them the shooter is still at large. When they have a chance meeting at the police station, they begin to gravitate to each other but is it just the tragedy that brought them together for now or can their feeling be real and last?
This is a fast-paced crime thriller with a plot with many twists and unexpected surprises. The reveal of the shooter is a big one. The hero and heroine of the romantic suspense part of the plot changed emotionally throughout the story. At first, I believed Elle was the average mom who suffers a tragedy, but as the story continues, you discover she has a very strong sense of self. Calder was not the most likable hero, but as the story progresses, he changes almost completely. The sex scenes are explicit, but not gratuitous. One thing that left me feeling slightly unsettled, though it was good for the progression of the plot, was the not safe safehouse set up by the detectives. Overall, an emotional, action-packed page turner of a romantic suspense.
I highly recommend this romantic suspense/crime thriller from one of my favorite authors.
Reading this book while looking out at the rolling Pacific Ocean with the sounds of happy kids playing in the surf it is so hard to believe that such depravity can exist, but it does. Mass shootings are taking place so often that we almost have become desensitized to them. The survivors and the families of the victims live with the loss forever and Sandra Brown pays homage to that reality. Elle's journey may strike some as not plausible, but I prefer to think of her as a very strong person who reached out with both hands to grab life. The story was gripping, and I was totally surprised by the baddie and the motive.
Elle Portman is an author of children's books. She is taking a well-deserved outing at a Texas county fair with her two-year son, Charlie, and best friend, Glenda. Charlie is near meltdown, and it is time to leave when gun shots ring out through the crowded midway. Everyone panics and Elle loses control of Charlie's stroller.
Calder Hudson is a successful business consultant who has just completed the largest contract of his career and the last place he wants to be is at a hick county fair. But his girlfriend, a beautiful TV reporter, is interviewing an up-and-coming Country star and wants him there. Shortly after clearing the entry gate gun fire erupts and people start dropping, running, screaming. Calder tries to stop a runaway stroller but is shot.
Police at first believe the shooter killed himself, but soon come to believe he escaped. Calder and Elle have a chance meeting at the police station. Calder was injured but survived. Elle lost the love of her life. They both want the same thing: Justice. This is a mutual goal, and an attraction grows as they share their feelings about the shooting and how the case is going. As unlikely as it is, they grow closer to each other and that scares the heck out of Calder and brings Elle some measure of guilt, but the attraction isn't to be denied. As the police investigate, a leak exposes Calder and Elle as witnesses, putting their lives in danger from a shooter who wants no loose ends. Calder is determined that he and Elle will survive even though "tragedy brought us together, but I'm not going to let it keep us apart."
My thanks to the Publisher and the Author for providing a complimentary digital Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this novel via NetGalley. This is my fair, honest and personal review. All opinions are mine alone and were not biased in any way.
I am a huge fan of Sandra Brown and always look forward to her next release. This story did not disappoint. I was nervous about the storyline as it felt a little too scary to engage and feel vested without feeling outraged. The first 10% of the story will be tough to get through but force yourself to do so and buckle up as it will take you on a dark path that has a fast pace and suddenly, you're at the end.
Elle is a survivor of a mass shooting. Her emotions are stretched and tested as she along with other survivors learn over time that the event has unfolded causing them to question who is responsible and why? The author does an exceptional job with the characters reaction to the event with tapping into their emotions, i.e., their guilt, and their grief. Elle proves to be a very strong woman and ally to Calder, who is angry that the mystery has not been solved and the detectives on the case do not appear to have any new evidence to bring them close to an arrest. Calder is not able to stay idle and wait for results. He and Elle have a connection and the two believe there is more to the story. They follow their instincts and soon discover that their lives may be in danger........again. The story ends with a shocking twist, and at times uncomfortable, but worthwhile.
Out of Bounds by Sandra Brown Romantic thriller. Trigger warnings: mass shooter scenario with several deaths including a child. Elle Portman brings her son to the Texas county fair, where unfortunately, there is a mass shooting. Calder Hudson goes to the fair as a way to apologize to his girlfriend but doesn’t make it to her once the shooting starts. He tries to protect people and grab the runaway stroller but it’s crowded and confusion reins. Calder is lucky. He is hit by a bullet in he arm and survives. Others aren’t so lucky. Elle and Calder are key witnesses when it’s found the shooter actually got away.
High level suspense and horrifying consequences precede the police investigation and danger for Elle and Calder. Twists, and turns ramp up the danger and drama. Elle and Calder grow close as they depend on each other for survival. Elle is, of course, heartbroken and the book is told over months, perhaps lessening the grief but I found her well adjusted. Perhaps that’s not the right description. She will never forget but is able to move forward into a relationship with Calder. Overall it’s a difficult to read book in the current environment. But I enjoyed the suspense, mystery and reveal.
This was really good! I have been a fan of Sandra Brown’s writing for a very long time and look forward to each new release so I was excited to have the chance to read her latest book. I was surprised to learn that this book dealt with a mass shooting but Sandra Brown handled the topic well as I trusted she would. The story took me on a bit of an emotional roller coaster since it was heartbreaking at times, and exciting at others, with just enough romance worked in to keep things very interesting.
My heart broke for some of the characters quickly after starting the book. Elle and Calder were both at the county fair when the shooting occurred and the danger may not be over. Everyone present when the shooting occurred lost something but Elle’s loss felt incredibly profound. Both Elle and Calder are committed to finding out who is responsible for everything that has happened. The story got very exciting as they encountered one dangerous situation after another while the police tried to find who was responsible for the tragedy. I liked the chemistry between Elle and Caulder and thought that they worked well as a couple.
I listened to the audiobook and thought that Kyf Brewer did a great job with the story. I believe that this is the first time that I have listened to this narrator’s work and wouldn’t hesitate to pick up other books that he narrates. I found his voice to be very pleasant and thought that he was able to add just the right amount of emotion to his reading.
I would recommend this book to others. I found this to be quite the page-turner and I loved that the mystery kept me guessing until the very end. The story ended on a hopeful note which I also appreciated. I cannot wait to read more of this talented author’s work in the future.
I received a review copy of this book from Grand Central Publishing.
Sandra Brown has taken the impossible and made me believe it. A mass shooting, a child’s senseless death, and a man and woman whose lives become forever connected in that one horrible second. Unfortunately, mass shootings are everywhere these days and in her forward note to the reader, she explains she didn’t take the subject lightly.
Elle Portman, a single mother, and Calder Hudson, a high-powered, corporate consultant are both strangers at a Texas fair when an unknown gunman begins shooting. I don’t want to give too much away, but when it is over their lives are changed forever. They are now members of a club they never wanted to join. As they try to put their lives back together, they are constantly pulled toward one another as they search for justice.
The story is suspenseful and full of twisty turns as it first appeared the gunman killed himself too, but later gets more complicated as the suspected gunman was proved to be an innocent bystander. Elle and Calder are drawn closer together as the real suspect makes threats and the story really heats up.
I was riveted all the way through this book and could not put it down. I have always loved Brown’s writing and this one was no exception. I would have given this book the highest score, but one thing just felt wrong to me and that was the very quick relationship between Elle and Calder. I can almost go along with the feeling of meeting someone and the feeling of destiny, but I just couldn’t buy her being ready for anything, let alone a relationship. This is still a fabulous book that I encourage everyone to read. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher, Grand Central Publishing, for the opportunity to read it in exchange for my honest opinion. I gave it four stars.
What can I say? I love every single book Sandra Brown writes and this one grabbed me from the beginning. A shooting takes place at a Texas county fair and the suspect is still at large. Loved the setting, the characters … loved it all! Looking forward to her next thriller.
I understand this was a tough topic to write about, and it is a topic more and more authors are touching on due to the frequent nature of these events in the world. With that being said, I can say I felt nothing about this book.
Similar stories from other authors I have read have forced emotions that one should feel dealing with these tragedies. I believe the reason for these types of stories is to bring to light the issues in society and awareness of what people go through in the aftermath. This story did not evoke any of those emotions.
A single mother who claims her entire life is devoted to her son seems to be barely affected by his passing. I didn't feel her emotions, especially as the tragedy was unfolding, nor did I feel them after. She seems more concerned with disappointing her editor or friend or worrying about the guy who just rolled off her and left, then she did with losing her child.
I felt little connection to any of the characters and felt this story was rushed. She could have made me care for Elle or Calder or truly despise Shauna and Dawn, but I really couldn't care about any of them and found them all very one-dimensional.
The police in this book were made to be bumbling morons who were simply a means to an end. One minute, things are hush-hush, but the next, they are blabbing to her best friend. Witnesses escape custody but barely get a stern talking to. Instead of finding a new safe house, they just let them stay in her friends house together. It was so important that witnesses don't talk to each other, but the police host multiple slumber parties for the witnesses or schedule private meetings at the same place only minutes apart. The police keep talking about how important these key witnesses are but then keep losing track of them.
With today's technology, the witnesses could have been tracked by so many means, and the police just waited for them to call and check in. They allowed witnesses to talk to whoever while in a secret safehouse from their own phones without monitoring the calls, just inviting issues, and then give away all the security flaws over burgers and fries.
I also understand she writes romance novels and it is expected but here is this high end successful guy who claims to have all these feelings about what happened and towards the main character and yet the most important thing to him seems to be getting laid.
I normally love the twist and turns Sandra Brown weaves in her stories, but this story didn't have that. The biggest mystery was his job, and it wasn't even a huge surprise when it was finally revealed. The story is lacking in every category, whether mystery, drama, romance, or suspense.
This book seemed rushed with little thought or research behind it, which is a shame because a topic like this, which does affect so many people really deserves more.

Holy cow…this book was quite the ride. It was sad in places, but I totally loved it, for a variety of reasons! I can’t say much past the synopsis, but you’ll be turning the pages quickly with this one.
Elle Portman is a single mother of two-year-old Charlie, and a burgeoning author of children’s books. She has taken Charlie to the county fair, but he’s getting cranky, his stroller is getting heavy, and they are about to leave as gunshots ring out.
Calder Hudson was driving home from a particularly good day at work, hoping for a nice dinner with champagne. Instead, his girlfriend and local news reporter, Shauna Calloway, begged him to come join her at the fair. Being in a hot, sweaty crowd is the last thing he wants, but he decides to appease her. This completely changes everything in his life, as he gets there just before the shooting (which was difficult to read, so if that is a trigger for you, I’d sit this one out).
When the shots are finished, many are wounded. Some are dead. These people now all share a bond, but not a bond like Elle and Calder found. In a thrilling book steeped in tragedy, we also find ourselves in the middle of a smoldering, steamy and sexually-charged relationship between the two. They both know how weird it seems, but neither of them care enough to stop. Is it survivor’s guilt, a co-dependency, or true love?
The voice of the shooter is also present in this book, and it was creepy as hell. I didn’t guess the ending whatsoever, and I was considering just about everything. The final few pages were a bit abrupt, as was the last line, but the ending overall was quite strong. This book was so suspenseful and thrilling, but it was also thoughtful, well-written, timely and bold. 4.5 stars, rounded up.
(Thank you to Grand Central Publishing, Sandra Brown and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my review. This book is slated to be released on July 31, 2023.)
Why did I question SB’s writing process: from the perp to the good guys to the bad guys?🤦🏼♀️ I should know better than that by now. I didn’t see it coming because I was too busy being judgy and she just is that good.
Either way, I’m glad I gave it another try. The romance aspect was reminiscent of her older books - a nice touch - much more than a touch, really - to this otherwise thriller/whodunnit.
NTS 40% in: I’m reminded why I love this author. Yet, something is…different…not bad different…just different. Can’t put my finger on it. Perhaps more emphasis than is her usual style, on the hxh relationship this early in the book? The presence of the protagonist via his pov is at the forefront, makes for angsty reading but she’s known for this…what am I missing? Nothing in the story, for sure. I’m enjoying the reading experience very much. Riveted to the developing case and the Hxh’s connection. The bad guy is truly bad and is freaking me out no end. I’ll see where it goes…
This is a well-written, entertaining, romantic suspense thriller which has a sizzling romance and an unexpected twist. I listened to the audio version of this novel, and the narrator, the truly talented Mr. Kyf Brewer, has a captivating voice and does an outstanding job voicing the characters.
Sandra Brown is the ultimate story teller and will keep the reader guessing right up until the end of the story. OUT OF NOWHERE throws the reader for a loop over and over again in ways that will have you being blown away. A mass shooting takes place at a Texas Fair. One of the shooting victims is a child. Elle is at the fair with her son, Charlie, and her best friend, Glenda. Calder is at the fair to surprise his girlfriend, A tv news reporter, who plays a big part in this story. As soon as Calder enters the fair gate gun fire erupts and people start dropping, running, and of course, screaming. Calder tries to stop a runaway stroller but is shot. Calder and Elle are forever connected by a bullet and that fact alone will break your heart. The list of suspects who are the number one suspect to this horrible shooting, just keeps growing and growing and just when you think you have it figured out, Sandra Brown throws you in a whole new direction.
OUT OF NOWHERE by Sandra Brown hooked me from the very first page and never let me go. It reminded me of exactly why I have always loved Sandra Brown’s books. The pages are filled with mystery and twists and turns you never see coming. Don’t you love when an author can hook you, throw you on an emotional roller coaster and then spit you out at the end? The identity of the shooter and their motives was a surprise and completely threw me for a loop! You just sit there wondering what the heck just happened! That is exactly what happened to me while reading OUT OF NOWHERE.
OUT OF NOWHERE is filled with twists and turns, mystery, suspense, some romance, heartbreak, and conflict. Sandra Brown has always been a favorite author of mine and I love the way she tends to pull the rug right out from under her readers and blows them away. The banter between Elle and Calder, is spot on and will have you giggling out loud, to the point of snorting. Well, that’s what happened to me anyway. All I know is it has been entirely too long since I read a Sandra Brown book and OUT OF NOWHERE reminded me as to why I love her writing! I now need to get caught up on her books that I haven’t read yet. If you have never read a Sandra Brown novel, OUT OF NOWHERE is a great place to start.
Brown tackles some tough subject matter in OUT OF NOWHERE. Very emotional storyline that I found to be well written right up to the climax that threw me for a loop. For me, the ending doesn't feel right and I can't say more without spoilers. I enjoyed the search for a killer and the chemistry building between protagonist & hero throughout, but the ending failed to convince me.
Reading a Sandra Brown book is an annual highlight.
As always her audiobooks are fast reads for me, I usually listen to them non-stop, on my way to work and while doing chores. Some authors are so reliable when writing novels that they almost never disappoint, but also rarely surprise because of a certain formula. The last novel by Sandra Brown that really surprised me was Blind Tiger - it was set in the a different era and I just loved the vibe of it.
But Out of Nowhere was exactly what I hoped it would be.
Entertaining, definitely following a kind of formula, without major misunderstandings and drama. A solid romantic suspense by an author who has decades of experience. And it shows!
I'm not going to go over the plot, just saying that if you enjoy romance suspense, I can only recommend her books. And the audiobook was well done, narrated by a male voice, which is really something I enjoy.
I was reluctant to read this due to the plot focusing on a mass shooting and the events following it. But I’m a loyal Sandra Brown reader so I took a leap of faith. The story started strong and despite the difficult aspects, I was initially hooked. However, as things progressed, more and more things bothered me.
My main beef was the plot. It went from solid and intense at the outset to convoluted and ridiculous by the end. The Arthur Capland (I think that was the name) plot point was a total head-scratcher. The police, by their own admission, randomly glommed onto this guy as a potential suspect and the way things developed from there was just silly. Unrealistically, the guy somehow turned out to be a major link to solving the case. It also seemed bizarrely out of place that Hudson, in the midst of all the danger and insanity going on around him, decided it was a good time to pay Capland's wife a visit to apologize for his role in Capland losing his job. And then that visit conveniently leads to the discovery of the actual perp? No way. It was an all-around steady deterioration of events and the last 10-15% in particular was eye-rolling.
My other big beef was Elle’s apparent ease in accepting her son’s death in the mass shooting. Her reaction at first was gut-wrenching and fitting given the situation but two months later, she seemed to be moving forward—including getting hot and heavy betw the sheets with the guy who was struck by the same bullet as her son—without much evident struggle or upset. How?? It seemed cold and emotionless and extremely unrealistic.
Hudson was pushy and overly alpha in the way he pursued Elle. Gruff, determined, alpha male badasses are the usual H found in SB’s books and usually, I don’t mind. But here it rankled. I felt like, at least in the beginning, he was pushing the bounds of consent. How about asking for that kiss, big guy, instead of just barreling in and taking it?
Finally, the narrator was disappointing. Terrible female voices, no sense of using the right voice inflections for a given scene, and just a general lack of skilled and on-point acting.

Man asmeniškai pats blogiausias scenarijus, kai eiliniai veikėjai sugeba išspręsti bylą ir išaiškinti nusikaltėlį greičiau, nei pareigūnai. 😒
Bendrai, tikrai geras skaitinys, jeigu nesinori baisių scenų. Puikiai tiks, kas mėgsta detektyvus, kuriuose lengvai įpinta meilės istorija.
Though the theme of the story is depressing and hard to read, it is one of the best books Sandra Brown has written recently. I loved both the MCs, their chemistry, their interactions and the plot is tight knit.
Out of Nowhere By Sandra Brown Pub Date: 01 Aug 2023 Grand Central Publishing General Fiction (Adult) Rating: 4.5/5
A young mother and a high-rolling consultant come together under tragic circumstances and become embroiled in a life-or-death manhunt that changes both of their lives forever in Sandra Brown's Out of Nowhere. As they race against the clock, secrets will be revealed and the line between right and wrong will become blurred, forcing Sandra Brown's characters to make life-altering decisions that will have far-reaching implications.
This book captivated me like no other due to its highly emotional content. The gripping story and riveting characters kept me transfixed. Despite the fact that few plot points were clear early on, I was hooked by the surprises and webs that required further exploration. The story has incredible suspense and intrigue that makes it extremely difficult to walk away from. Anyone seeking a fast-paced, gut-wrenching read should check out this novel. You'll remember it long after you finish it.

Thank you NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for sharing this amazing book with me. The message resonates with every parent and touches my heart deeply.
At one time, I was a huge Sandra Brown fan. I eagerly awaited her romantic suspenses that were released each August. Lately, I’ve cooled towards her releases but wanted to find some of that old feel good Sandra Brown and I picked up Out of Nowhere. I never warmed to the characters - not even the young mother who had just lost her young son in a mass shooting. I didn’t see her grief at play that much during that usual time of great devastation. And the hero - I was warned early on by the author that he was basically a thoroughly alpha male. I like alphas. I can work with that. But the depth of character you would expect of a hero just wasn’t there. He wanted the heroine sexually and pushed it - too much. The suspense? It fell flat. I imagine this is categorized Romantic Suspense but it would best be described as highly detailed sex poorly camouflaged as romantic suspense.
Out of Nowhere by Sandra Brown An emotional, suspenseful, story with an intense police investigation into the hunt for a mass shooting gunman. Well written, the identity of the shooter and their motives was a surprise. There is also an unexpected romantic element. Realistic and reliatable characters and especially impressed with Calder and Elle.
Thank you to Sandra Brown, Grand Central Publishing, and Netgalley for the opportunity to preview the book.
Boring. Great premise. Terrible storyline. Truly uninspiring, forgettable, characters.
A complete disappointment from Sandra Brown. Maybe I'm just over her after reading everything she's ever written - some of my most favorite novels came from her imagination. This one didn't come close.
The author, Sandra Brown, is very aware that her subject matter, a mass shooting, can be a sensitive and gruesome topic and she says she would like to make sure that survivors, as well as victims, are honored. “Out of Nowhere “ recognizes the trauma that occurs to people and that time doesn’t simply heal the emotional scars. Her main characters, a young mother and a businessman, are complex. They’re never far from the awful incident that made them unwilling acquaintances and their stories are heartbreaking as they realize their lives have changed forever.
As a story, this has a unique spin: what if after a few weeks the police realize that the supposed killer who seemed to die by suicide, wasn’t the mass murderer but also a victim? How do two people who wanted to be assured that the man who made their lives unbearable find out that there's still a maniac out there? A maniac who might still be targeting survivors? The result is a tense, fast-paced suspense story that doesn’t let up until the very end, sweeping up the main characters as they react to the twists and turns re-victimizing them. Of course, there are some (not all) incompetent law enforcement officers and greedy, unscrupulous reporters along the way as well. It’s often hard to deal with the subject matter, but it was worth the read to contemplate “what happens if the mass shooter gets away?” 4 stars!

Literary Pet Peeve Checklist: Green Eyes (only 2% of the real world, yet it seems like 90% of all fictional females): ALMOST The unusual color of Elle’s aqua eyes is eventually described as like opals, but Calder’s “eyes were hazel, though more green than brown”. Horticultural Faux Pas (plants out of season or growing zones, like daffodils in autumn or bougainvillea in Alaska): NO Just an escape through some unspecified anonymous woods.
I am such a HUGE fan of Sandra Brown but I'm finding that my love for her writing goes back to her older books. Some of her recent stuff has been good but these books just don't compare to her older books.
Some of my favorites are Envy, The Alibi, Mean Streak, Chill Factor. I loved reading these. They all had me sitting on the edge of my seat, my head spinning and a kick-ass ending.
This one fell short on all fronts. The H & h were likeable but honestly I wasn't feeling their love connection. The storyline started off tackling a devastating situation and while it gained some traction, it started to fizzle out at the point I was expecting it to pick up. And the twist towards the end was a bit of a surprise but didn't carry the OMG factor for me.
Ah well.....time for me to reread the oldies I guess.
This book should not have been written. No one - NO. One. wants to read a romantic thriller about two survivors of a mass shooting. Especially two unlikeable characters. Good lord was this terrible. I truly can't believe I finished it. MMC was a complete dick. FMC had a sympathetic story but was a cardboard cutout.
I loved Sandra Brown in the 90s. Her books were my candy reading. But, apparently my nostalgia for Sandra Brown's books needs to stay with my youth. I don't think I will be reading any of her more recent books.
