What a cute book

Many of the Animal Inn books can be read as stand-alone books, where you don't REALLY have to read the earlier books in the series to understand what's going on. Unfortunately, Petnapped is not one of them. The main characters talked about past events that I could not for the life of me remember. (Well, it has been 20-plus years since I first read the series.)
Otherwise, this was a cute and sometimes unpredictable book. I used to live near the area described in the series and so thought the plot and details pretty accurate. There is no evil rich girl this time around, leaving room for other evil people to fill in the gap. There is a big build-up to the final confrontation with the petknapper -- and then suddenly it's all over.
