Deep in the darkness, the dragon waits to be unleashed… The impossible has happened: Tyrus—a true dragon—has been communicating with Astrid.
He’s alive, he’s trapped, and he needs Astrid and Kaden’s help to escape.
Astrid has no clue where to start looking, until she and Kaden are invited as champions to the Guild Games, a prestigious competition between the dragon-kin guilds. And surprise, surprise, this year the Games are taking place in Yellowstone, exactly where Tyrus is being held. Astrid doesn’t believe in coincidences, and this one’s too good to pass up.
Even if they’re walking right into a trap.
Kaden doesn’t trust the Games’ promise of building “unity”, but they’re the perfect ruse to give them time to find Tyrus. And maybe give him time to grow closer to Astrid, the girl who changed his life, the girl he can’t bear to be without, and the girl he’s terrified of losing.
But things take a turn for the dangerous when they discover that Nico is after Tyrus, too, and nothing will get in his way.
Worse, someone is sabotaging the Games, leaving champions invalid and fingers pointed at Astrid and Kaden. If they don’t stop Nico, find Tyrus, and clear their names, their newest enemy may become the guilds themselves...

Sean Fletcher was born in the broiling, arid state some people lovingly refer to as Texas. He is the Amazon bestselling author of YA fantasy, in addition to other forthcoming books whose characters will not give him a moment's peace until they get their turn in the spotlight. When not making things up and putting them on paper, he can be found hiking, biking, or traveling, sometimes all at the same time.

Wow what a thrilling read, this 3rd book in the Legacy of Dragons is urban fantasy at its best, similar to The Hunger Games but with dragons thrown into the game too. The convocation games are due to be held and Astrid and Kaden have been invited to attend. The games are meant to get the different competitors together, however the spirit of competition is not one of togetherness at all but of rivalry and sabotaging one another to the extreme. The games turn very dangerous and many contestants are hurt. Furthermore Astrid and Kaden accepted to attend because Astrid has been communing with the last living dragon Tyrus, who is asking for their help to free him. Tyrus has been kept captive, somewhere totally hidden for millennia. There are many twists and turns to this story, so much so that one ends up not knowing who can really be trusted. Nico and his fellow allegiant slayers are also at the Yellowstone site, where the games were being held so these offer an extra threat. Finally they all converge at the site close to the magical barrier holding Tyrus captive and a massive battle takes place. Unleashing a true dragon is not what they had envisaged it to be, now the whole world is in danger! Phew breath-taking to the last page and I cannot wait to read book 4. Sometimes one has to be careful what they wish for!
It's interesting how there's always a duality to the world, good and bad coexist in a dizzying, swirling pattern of light, dark and everything in-between. And what seems today to be good can become bad, and the bad become not so bad, in the end leaving the good-intentioned characters beaten, disappointed in themselves, bleeding and achingly full of regrets, the "what have we done" kind. I like that they remain true to themselves despite the seeming hopelessness of the right choice, and the almost certain doom.
Well written, full of twists and turns, this is the part where Astrid and Kaden are aware they are being set as pawns in the power game, but are still determined to try and save what they see as the victim, always on the side of the good and the underdog, forgiving their enemies and remaining loyal to their friends. I so look forward to what's next!
Received as an ARC, I am leaving my honest review. The games are on, the contestants chosen. Anticipation runs high as the neighboring convocations bring everyone together. But be prepared for many twists and turns as each task is revealed. Astrid and Kaden have their hands full as they are secretly searching for a true dragon. Events unfold that are dangerous but full of anticipation as they find the clues leading them to victory and the discovery of a lifetime. Problems arise when the players turn out to be someone other than an assumed role. Things get electric and explosive when the truth is revealed. It is not as they assumed and as the true dragon is released, so is the danger. Hang on for a wild ride as you hold your breath and bite your nails, with the end leading to more.
Book three and the games are on! Astrid and Kaden know it’s a trap but join the games they must as the fate of Tyrus depends on it. It’s an exciting and captivating read as we jump on in, feet first into this incredible magical world. There’s action, there’s danger and of course someone is sabotaging the games and blaming our mc’s. Twists and turns and surprises to keep you spinning and on your toes as our underdogs fight their way through to the epic battle that can set our last true dragon free but all is not as it seems. Mystery, intrigue , This has left me breathless and anxious for book four!
I read the second book in this series and had to dive into this one almost immediately. With Kaden and Astrid facing new dangers and trying to find their way through all the twists and turns, I knew I was in for a good ride. The book pulls you in from the first page and keeps you hooked until you reach the end, and even then you are desperate to know more. I finished this in one sitting and glad I have the fourth book so that I can jump right into that and continue on with the story. An amazing urban fantasy series, and one I very much recommend!
I'm not gonna lie, I was expecting more out of the Games than what happened. I did like the opportunity to be around other dragon-kin, especially the ones from New York (it makes me want to read the first series even more), but it didn't seem to have a real reason to even happen except as a way to get the characters to the right location. The ending totally made up for it thoughm excites to see how this series concludes.
I have loved every minute of Kaden’s and Astrid’s story, the ups and downs but in Unleashed I’ve been on the edge of my seat to finally find out what’s really going on in this crazy world of Dragonkin and Slayers. The twists and unexpected ending have me dying for the rest of the story!
This is an amazing story by an amazing author! The characters are great, the story is awesome and full of action and lots of adventure!!! Dragons, dragon shifters, magic, this book has it all. I can't wait for more!!!!

I was lucky enough to have gotten a ARC copy of this book from the author. I am volunteering to leave this review. Fantastic book plenty of action and suspense. Great series can not wait for the next book who will come out in the end.
I enjoyed reading this. The games trope was well played with plenty of suspense, thrills, and the amazing world built that we know and love. And that twist at the end... Breathtaking! Looking forward to seeing how the series continues!
This was a nice supernatural hunger games style. I was not surprised with the full dragons behavior or beliefs. It should make for an interesting next book. Astrid, kayden, and tyrus.
An amazing story that will have you wanting more. Kyrus the true dragon needs help to escape. Plenty of action and danger to draw you in. Can’t wait for the next book.
