Simon Callahan finally has a plan, and after an incredibly difficult year, he’s ready to move forward. He’s even gone so far as to make an offer on an old dairy farm in the area. But just as things are looking on track, he goes and opens his big mouth, and is now stuck working with the granddaughter of the dairy farm’s owner—who also happens to be the first person he’s been attracted to in a really long time. Noelle is witty, smart, beautiful, and doesn’t have a clue that her grandfather is thinking of selling the farm. Not that Simon’s going to tell her, at least not until things with the sale are more concrete. When Noelle Fletcher's life blew up in her face, she hightailed it up to Redding and the safety of Paw Paw’s farm. The plan is to regroup, get back on her feet, and return to her old life, better than ever. And then the most irksome, handsome cowboy she's ever laid eyes on walks through the door. Simon is sweet and caring, but also deeply wounded, and staying away is the smart option. When he asks her for help with an extremely personal problem, she knows she should say no. But turning her back on him would be wrong, even if getting intimately involved is a bad idea. *** This book touches on issues and themes that may be difficult for some readers. I feel like I’ve been waiting for Simon’s story since he was first introduced. There was just so much mystery surrounding him to me. And I loved that he was such a cowboy to the core. I also loved that we got to see Noelle again. I knew that there was going to be more to her character from the moment she was introduced. And I was glad that she ended up being able to be central in one of the stories. Her chemistry with Simon was natural and things between them developed and flowed so naturally. It made for a truly beautiful story.
Noelle also ended up being no stranger to the area. I liked that people assumed she was a city girl when she was strong to the core and while she may not have been extremely experienced with ranch life, she also wasn’t afraid to get dirty and wanted to learn. I like that she also challenged Simon out of his comfort zone and wasn’t afraid to call him out when he was being a jerk.
This was a great love story and an excellent addition to the series. I’m glad that we were able to have Grace and Mason again but I did miss Jake and Claire being around. And I am pretty eager to read about the backstory with Owen and Isabella! It feels like they’ve been this big shadow looming in each book, with bombshells about their relationship and lives together being dropped here and there. But I’m definitely ready for them to be the focus of the next novel in the series!

I really appreciate the author’s take on this kind of trope. Simon is your all-around great guy who always gives back to help others, but no one knows that he is currently facing certain struggles that have plagued his life in the past year. It isn’t until he meets Noelle, granddaughter to one of the ranchers, that he slowly faces his demons. But while I like this focus on the hero instead of the usual heroine, I felt that the flow and development of this story fell short. There were still a few unanswered questions or at least, things that I felt should have been addressed. I know it’s not relatively a long novel but it seemed like the development was rushed and it was all about reaching the end. I like Noelle and Simon’s story, but it fell a little short for me. I enjoyed it but it wasn’t a page turner for me.
Please review all Trigger Warnings before proceeding with this book. That being said, I found this book to be a very thoughtfully written book. Noelle is a woman leaving a bad marriage and returning to what she considers home to regroup and reevaluate her life. Simon has had his own past trauma but is having a more difficult time moving forward. A chance meeting between the two eventually leads to both facing their fears and being vulnerable with one another. There are warm and wonderful secondary characters in Paw Paw and Eloise. There is inuendo to other stories in the series without distracting from this main story. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
So we met Noelle in the last book, and we already know Simon as one of the five Callahan brothers. She's also the granddaughter of a local dairy farmer, one who is looking to sell his spread so he can comfortably retire. She's still reeling from a disastrous marriage, while Simon is stoically trying to move beyond his own recent trauma.
There's a lot of healing going on here, with both Simon and Noelle having to learn to trust again, to step out in faith, and risk their hearts. It's an exquisitely beautiful story, with an appropriately slow pace to the important milestones. Every step is measured and meaningful, and the setbacks are handled with an abundance of care and compassion. Noelle's patient encouragement is only exceeded by Simon's bravery. I've never read one before where the hero had suffered this kind of assault, and I thought the author handled it wonderfully.
Of course we're treated to scenes with all the Callahan family members and a few with the couple who are being featured in the next book. I am really looking forward to that one! Simon and Noelle do eventually get through all their hurdles and have a very satisfying HEA. If you read contemporary cowboy romances, you don't want to miss this one! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
The beginning did have me roll my eyes- like ooo she's a city girl and he's a country boy and he's vaguely judgmental but she's actually better than other city girls...how novel. But that vibe was really only in that scene. It was definitely more lust at first sight rather than love at first sight which I like better and I am also a sucker for dimples, so I feel Noelle there. I actually like that there's a secret or thing aside from the farm secret he's keeping AND I feel like in these stories its always the female character that has physical issues or whatever so I like the flip. There's a standing up to the family for the other person scene and a 1 bed trope. Love to see it. Things fell apart and then were resolved so fast that I do kinda wish we'd had to sit with it for a little longer and the (spoiler alert!) pregnancy in the epilogue cliche is so overdone in my opinion. It was solid enough, but I didn't love it. It would make a good light beach read honestly, despite some of the heavier topics discussed.

Simon was suffering from an occurrence that happened a year previously and affected his interaction with family and friends. We met Noelle in His Fake Fiance, and I was glad to see more of her skills required to rectify situations. Although they hit it off quite quickly and enjoyed not only being part of their journey, but seeing how easily Noelle was accepted by the community and Simon's family. Erin Parisien pointed out a different aspect of involving animals and what we, as humans, think is cute, can be traumatic to the animal if not handled correctly. Once again, I enjoyed her writing and fell into being part of the family, wanting only the best for these two people. I received a copy and this is my honest and voluntary review.
"His Simple Plan" is a story of two broken people that fix each other and fall in love. Sounds like something you've read a thousand times? Believe me, this one you didn't. It was way more emotional and gutting in some parts than I expected. Definitely worth reading the TW presented on author's website, if there are some topics that are very sensitive to you.
I like that the author presents cowboys in a different manner - they're not super-macho-alpha-clichés, but show more vulnerable site and still being manly.
What irked me though was confusing doctor's names, Lee and Kim are not the same surname and for an actually published book (not an ARC) it just looks bad.
Noelle, is out running and comes across an in labour cow, she stops Simon, who fortuitously is a vet. He's been working on the family ranch and resenting it. She's back at her grandfather's, after her divorce and her ex causing her problems with her credit history.
They get pushed together to work on the not petting zoo. She's attracted to him and he feels something for her but has a past that's causing him huge problems. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. A great emotional story from Erin
Absolutely wonderful storyline, but keep in mind that there's a reversed trigger thrown in! This book follows the struggles of overcoming not emotional but physical hardships with the help of love and therapy. The characters are amazingly relatable even with a little bit of a role reversal angle. It definitely shines a light from a different perspective! Throw in some family dynamics/struggles and steamy new love and you've got yourself a wonderful read!

A beautifully written story that makes your heart bleed as you learn more and more about Simon. He is such a sweet, humble man. It was wonderful to be along for his healing journey.
As much as I enjoyed Noelle in the story, she did get on my nerves a bit with her reaction to the deal between her Grandfather and Simon. It was over the top and out of place to me.
I look forward to see what Erin has in store next. Her stories always have wonderfully developed characters and she knows how to get to your emotions.
Simon, one of the Callahan brothers, is all cowboy through and through, and sexy AF. He's carrying a huge secret and a ton of guilt. Noelle is dealing with family issues and her grandfather. We met her in His Fake Fiance. I know in my heart that she didn't make the legal decision in that book, but I didn't really care for her. This book shows an entirely different side of her, and she's one amazing woman. Their story is beautiful, even if his issues are heartbreaking. I received an advance copy of the book, and this is my honest review.
I absolutely loved this book so much, I’d definitely recommend it to friends and family. It had dual pov which I love as it gives you an insight to both of their thoughts. I loved that the heavy topics in this book were written about so well, that it wasn’t unrealistic, it was such an emotional read. I liked that they communicated so well about everything, and how she helped him overcome trauma.
Definitely recommend.

A beautiful storyline with a sensitive approach to a rarely discussed topic… this was a great read. Heavy-hearted, sad, anxious, joyful, optimistic, and hopeful, this book gave me all the feels. Amidst the emotional roller coaster there was a wonderful HEA in the making. Great read!

I really enjoyed this book. I appreciate how Simon had to work through his issues caused by an event that many people don’t realize happen to men. And the author made a great point on why those incidents seem to go unreported.
Side note: I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review
His Simple Plan is intense, sweet, heartbreaking, and powerful. Simon and Noelle’s story has been beautifully crafted, sucking you into their world and taking you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I love how the author presented this story, carefully building her main characters with strength, compassion, empathy, courage, and love. This is a tear-jerker, and a must read.
Received as an ARC and leaving my honest review voluntarily. Emotional story that touched on a rarely mentioned/discussed sensitive topic. Well written with so much heart, emotion and steam, and a sweet HEA. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
I could Not put this book down. Such a beautiful story and the sexual abuse/rape story was treated with such compassion. Noelle and Simon are perfect for each other. This book had a bit of every emotion . Highly recommend. I received a copy from Booksirens and leave my review voluntarily
A sweet small town love story with big trigger warnings. So please make sure you read the TW before you read this book.
This was a change of pace for me. The MMC was everything but your typical alphahole. He was vulnerable, scared, but grew with the FMC. He gave off good vibes with trauma. FMC was broken but strong. Together, they navigate healing with a HEA.
At some points, the story dragged on a little, slowed down from a slow burn, I found the interaction between the MMC and FMC to be a little strained and chemistry to be lacking through most of the story.
The mental illness aspect and healing from trauma were beautiful. This was such a valid point in this book. It shows you that bad things happen to all sexes.
