No gracias. No tengo ganas de afrontar una de mis fobias leyendo erótica. Peor me lo pones.

This was my first FFF and of course, it had to be Mrs. Clio Evans to deliver it.
In this new chapter in the life of the most horny company out there 😅, Cinder’s sister and powerful omega witch Ember meets the orc Lea and the vampire Minni, who are ex girlfriends and still have a lot with unfinished business with each other.
But they will have to deal with that, because Ember just got in heat and that could only mean one thing: the 3 of them are fated mates.
I really like those fmcs. They are interesting characters in their own right and are facing their own issues, except they won’t have to face them alone anymore.
What I love the most about Clio’s books, is that she always have time for negotiation and safeword and she writes feelings and emotions of each practice better each day, so it’s always conforting for me to read her stories and this one wasn’t different.
Can’t wait for the last book in the series, I’m sure she has something absolutely thrilling aimed our way!

Two stars.

I am so sad to rate this book this way.

This series is rapidly declining in plot, which as an erotica is not the be all end all but I personally did not align with the kinks in this so it was all I had to follow. I also didn't like the characters and it felt like Ember's omega-ness wasn't even considered other than 'she is horny now!' in a very tell not show way. I just am bleh. This was my first sapphic Omegaverse and sapphic orc book and I am so sad that it's been such a let down for me.

Good spice, but fuzzy points in plot

I’ve loved the spice in this series, which embraces all types of kinks and focuses on consent. However, at this point in the series the plot and the measures the MCs take seem odd and out of character. Also, we get very little info about Lea and Mini’s relationship.

Spice: 5/5

If you've gotten to this point, I'm assuming you've read the others in the series (if you didn't, you def should go back and start at the beginning).

This was a FFF monster office romance.
Vampires. Orcs. Witches.
Mates. Instant attraction. Heats.
Honestly what more can you ask for.
I was so excited for Ember's book and this one did not disappoint.

Each book has it's own story with an underlying story connecting them (which is my fav type).
I love that Clio will include little comments about the characters from the Creature Cafe series because my heart still hurts that it's over. I love that its all connected and now you get to see their kids as adults.
I also love a Clio Evans monster romance, and hold them close to my heart.

I was really hoping I'd like Ember's story. She was so strong as a support character. I've come to the conclusion that love or fated mates makes them stupid. Brain fog. You've got the orc and the vamp ex lovers that couldn't commit and then there's the witch they both need to protect.
I liked how Ember got called out for being a hypocrite. The dreams were interesting, another way for Alfred to attack. The self sacrifice annoyed me, especially given how pointless it was. Brain fog. The calling in a favor was unexpected. Looking forward to seeing how this one ends.

WHEN I TELL YOU THAT EVERYTHING CLIO WRITES IS PURE FUCKING GOLD, I’M NOT PLAYING.

This beautiful W/W/W novella (4th book in the Warts and Claws series) was absolutely perfect. The spice, the romance, it was just simply perfection.

Clio will NEVER disappoint with her toe-curling monster romance 😍🥵

I was in the mood for something quick and hot and remembered there was a new installment in this monster romance series. To be honest, I’m surprised the series works for me as well as it does. There’s no character development or emotional arc, both of which could absolutely be added in and which would make for an even better read. The suspense aspect is predictable and one note. I wouldn’t miss it if it were cut out. But the dynamics between each trio has proved to be entertaining and the sex scenes are on point. That’s especially true here when ex-girlfriends Minni and Lea accidentally trigger Ember’s heat. Turns out they’re all mates! The kink was indeed hot and it’s too bad the suspense plot had to kick back in because none of Ember’s choices made sense. Oh well.

I still don’t understand the point of Alfred’s villainry and I’m uncomfortable with the idea that

Characters: Ember is an omega witch and submissive with brown skin. Lea is an orc bodyguard and switch. Minni is a white vampire office security guard and switch. Specific sexuality not identified for any of the MCs.

Content notes: villain’s eyes ripped out, kidnapping, physical assault, immolation (villain), drug assault of secondary characters, nightmare, omega heat, mating bite, masturbation, on page sex, D/s, FFF menage, fluid exchange, blood drinking, impact play, bondage, rope play and suspension, mild breath play, mild degradation play, sex toys (including collar and leash), strap-on, Lea was adopted young, acephobic line , gendered pejoratives, ableist language

Omg Amber is such a derp! When she actually went to Alfred by herself I already wanted to scream but when she was surprised that he didn't kept his side of the "bargain" I wanted to throw my phone across the room! Seriously girl!? How can you be so naïve?!

This one was my least favourite and I'm really disappointed about it because the relationship had so much potential :(

I'm crossing my fingers for the last one

This book took me a long time to finish. The beginning was engaging, and I was entertained, but after a while, it felt like it lost its spark. I wasn't invested in how the actual plot would end. I did want to find out how things worked out for the trouble, and I am glad that they had an HEA. With that being said, I do not see myself continuing this series.

So this is the first all female pairing from this series and I had high hopes for it. But I think it's probably my least favorite of the series so far. It wasn't bad - not by any means. But I felt like it lacked the connections and the character growth that the previous books had with its characters.

Here we have Ember, our Omega, who is assigned protection in the form of Lea, an orc. Unfortunately, Lea has ties with another employee at the firm - Minni - a vampire who is not only Lea's ex, but also has her sights set on Ember. When the two exes clash over how to protect Ember, the realization that they are all mates comes at them full force.

Like I said, it was all right. I really liked Lea. I felt her pain being around Minni and her confusion over the sudden connection with the trio. She wanted to love and be loved in return. In the past Minni couldn't or wouldn't give that to her, so when she starts giving that to Ember, it stirs up emotions no one wants to deal with. There was a lot of running from conversations and avoiding topics. And it didn't really move the over arching plot along. It felt a bit like a filler for me.

I don’t think there’s anything that Clio can write that I won’t absolutely love! I am not as much into women only romance as I am men only, but I absolutely loved this book! Clio’s writing is amazing and I love how the story of the Warts and Claws series has little winks to the characters from the Creature Café series! It fills my need to never let any of these characters go! It’s almost bittersweet though because this is the next to last book in the series and I just don’t want it to end, like ever! That being said, if you like monster romance, FFF pairing, with an ongoing storyline, you will love this book!!!

I was so so nervous about this one and I’m mildly disappointed that my nerves were correct.

Ember is fucking adorable, let’s just get that out of the way. She deserves all the good things.

Lea is hot as fuck and sign me up for an orc mate please.

But where this book fell down for me was Lea and Minni’s relationship. There was no real resolution for me, and it was truly kind of heartbreaking. Lea has so much hurt from her previous relationship with Minni that I don’t feel was resolved at all. It is glossed over, with the barest or apologies and love confessions. And Lea and Minni never get a scene where they bond. It’s just mentioned at the end that they will.

I think where it’s also disappointing is in all the other books each mate gets a bonding intimate scene. And while I know Lea and Minni had higher stakes, it was really a letdown that they didn’t get one. I honestly can’t remember if they even kiss more than twice.

I will still read the next book of course, and still love Clio Evans’ world building. This book just needed more, more healing, more Lea and Minni.

"Monsters who were simps for their mates were adorable."

Out of all the books in this series, I expected this one to absolutely wreck me and turn me into gravel. I was hoping that after book two and book three of this series, by some miracle, the fourth book would be about Cinder's sister, Ember. I wanted to know so much more about her and with all the little bread crumbs we were getting, I just wanted more. And look, we got the girl! The cover is everything because we get to see Ember and the two giant women; Minni the vampire, on the left, and Lea, the bodyguard orc, on the right. Oh, it's everything!

As usual, it's a Monday and the magic of this office is in full swing! Ember is finally free to live her life and has her eyes set on a new promotion, however, there's just a few things that are getting in the way. A protective older sibling, who insists that she move in with them and their mates, and the cherry on the cake, getting saddled with a body guard, one whom she feels is absolutely unnecessary despite what her bosses say, and lastly, going into heat because the ever attractive vampire security guard and her orc body guard are her mates. Just a typical start to a Monday, right?

"I'd never seen an orc woman before, but she was gorgeous. A crush-you-like-a-watermelon-between-her-thighs type of gorgeous."

Never in this whole series or my wildest dreams, did I expect to get the 'two giant women smooshing a short, curvy woman' dynamic. Look, am I simping really, really hard for all three of these characters? Yes, yes I am and I have zero regrets. ZERO REGRETS! I have waited so long to see this kind of dynamic and it just adds ten years onto my life. I also want to mention, because I see no one talking about this, Ember is plus-sized/curvy and it's just so good, fills my heart with so much joy. Truly, all the joy for this character existing! Lea, the orc bodyguard, also cross-dresses. There's a whole conversation about how Lea prefers to present more masculine and wearing more masculine clothes, but doesn't mind wearing dresses and presenting more feminine from time to time. It was such a great little detail to add in and then to see the reaction of Minni and Ember after that dialogue was chef's kiss. Again, I mentioned this in some of the other reviews for the books in this series, but lots of diversity.

"There were so many desks in the place, and all I could think about was hoisting her up onto one, making her lie back, and helping her forget all her troubles for a while."

One thing I will say is this relationship between these three is far from perfect and very, very different from all the other relationships you see in this series. It's super messy and flawed, a lot of trust has been/is broken, there's anger and frustration, there's the whole thing with Minni and Lea being exes, this isn't like the other books where you see the main three characters building up their bonds. The relationship between Ember, Minni, and Lea is supposed to be one of healing, but also pain, frustration, and a little bit of heartbreak. Actually, one of my biggest issues with this book was how we don't really see these three mending from key moments of trust being broken or really seeing any of them being vulnerable with each other. A lot of the vulnerability either happens internally or in some situations when we're in one of the characters' pov, it'll happen off-page. And that was really frustrating because I think if the time and effort would have been put into the mending of trust and the vulnerability with the characters, it would have solidified that these three characters are mates. But with those details lacking, it was hard for me to believe that these three were fated to be mates and actually have a healthy relationship with each other.

I do have to point out, that even though this isn't a perfect relationship between these three characters, there is a lot of good. Like all the other books, there's a lot of discussion around boundaries, safe words, and giving Ember control to set the pace how she'd like it. Minni and Lea really cater to the fact that Ember needs to have some control in the relationship. Even though both Lea and Minni have dominant personalities and assume the dominant role often in the bedroom, they really take what Ember wants and needs into consideration.

Speaking of trust being broken, my other issue with this book was Ember's character, which makes me so sad to say, as a whole. I have spent so much time eagerly hoping for Ember to get her own story, to see more for her, to hopefully watch her get her happy ending and by the end of this book, her character flopped for me. In the beginning, I thought Ember was a very strong character, very smart and independent, wanted to have her freedom and prove she can do things, that she's more than the things she's had to endured. That maybe we'd see character development of her being vulnerable and letting others see the cracks in her armor. However, that was not the case, at all. There's a moment in this book where Ember faces a choice, she can either do the responsible, smart thing or she could be an absolute fool and do the worst choice. It's the fact that Ember is built up to be a very intelligent, responsible character and then she breaks the trust of her mates, goes behinds everyone's back, and makes a fool's choice. It was the most frustrating thing I've read in this whole series and it shocked me that all of Ember's characteristics were just thrown out the window for that one choice. Honestly, I think I would have preferred some sort of a kidnapping or mind/dream manipulation over this.

"This one was soft and lovely. Her skin started to glow a little brighter, casting a golden hue over Lea and me. It reminded me of the sun right before it set, washing over the world with its warmth."

As for the spicy scenes, I think these were some of my favorite moments in this whole book. I don't want to spoil too much with these, but they were good. I had a fun time reading them and I think out of all of them, the mating/bond scenes were the strongest and best ones. I really enjoyed them and still remember the details from those scenes. The spicy scenes definitely stood out more compared to the main story plot.

There's some foreshadowing for the final book, as well. We're introduced to a new character, Sylvia, who helps Ember out and later on become good friends. I was very interested in Sylvia and the few details we received weren't enough, but I knew we'd probably be seeing her in the final book. One doesn't simply introduce a new character so close to the closing of a series without having a bigger role in-store for them. There's some glimpses into what Alfred has been up to and hints to what he plans for the finale, as well. Which to be honest, I didn't really care too much about because at this point, if you made to this book in the series, we all know that Alfred is doing this out of some lovesick revenge.

"All of us were exhausted, traumatized, and surviving off the donuts and coffee Anne had ordered."

Overall, this felt like the weakest book in the series and definitely feels like the shortest. This book could have been a bit longer to give extra details. And, as I've mentioned, I really would have loved seeing extra details of healing trust and seeing the main characters being vulnerable with one another instead of it feeling like those things were internalized. To me, it just painted an unhealthy relationship dynamic with these three characters even though I do love them individually. I still think this book is still worth reading especially if you've come this far in the series. And three stars isn't a bad rating or review. I still had a lot of fun reading this book and still enjoyed the progression of the story. I mean, come on, giant women with a curvy, short cutie! How could I not still enjoy this book?!

“Love yourself first, Ember,” she said. “Then love Minni. Then love me.”

2.5 stars. Well, I don't know what I expected. Actually, scratch that, I do know. This is part of a paranormal monster romance series, and while each book deals with a different throuple, they're not quite standalone romances. So when I decided to just start at book four because I wanted to get straight to the sapphics, I figured I would be confused about some plot stuff. But actually, everything about the overarching plot, about monsters and witches working at some sort of company, was pretty simple to grasp. Yes, the characters referred to events that happened in previous books, and there were a couple references that flew over my head, but  all in all it was pretty simple. But as understandable as the plot was, I simply didn't care about it. Every time we'd start moving away from the romance, I'd feel my attention slipping away.

The romance was cute; pretty tropey, but fun because of it. Lea (orc, security) and Minni (vampire, security) are exes who broke up a few months ago. They reunite for the first time, and while in the presence of Ember (witch, omega) they realise that all three of them are mates. And Ember goes into heat. And they bang it out of her. The book is 50% smut, which I didn't mind at all; it was pretty sexy. But the plot, with the evil corporate demon who wants to steal power from the witches and whatever... it was so dull. The characters were all archetypal and played into clichés, but especially so for Alfred. Also, the characters made some decisions that were so dumb, especially at the end. It was clearly a case of the author needing certain things to happen, and so they had the characters act accordingly, whether it made sense or not. The ending was melodramatic, but fine overall. I did really think the romance was sweet, and really hot, and I was very relieved that there were none of the a/b/o tropes that I really hate. But other than how hot the three main characters were, there's nothing much to recommend here. And I really don't think I'd have felt differently if I'd read the series from the beginning.

Listened to the audiobook as read by Lexi Evans and Michelle Price, and I liked it fine. Not my favourite, but a great rendition of the characters, And again, very sexy. I pushed through with this because I did really like the first book I read from this author. And I mean, I didn't dislike any part of this. But I don't think the series is for me.

(This is one of my favourite covers ever though; shout out to the artist.)

Series: Warts & Claws Inc. #4

⚠️Check triggers⚠️

Ember, an omega witch, is preparing for her big interview at Warts & Claws. She meets Lea, an orc, and Minni, a vampire, who are brought in to protect her from the evil HR boss. Ember is prepared for everything, except going into heat after meeting Lea and Minni. Ember is now faced with the reality of having two mates, a big interview, and an evil HR boss determined to drain her magic.

This story is a little different in that two of the characters had a previous relationship with one another. Lea and Minni recently broke up. They loved one another, but something wasn't fully working for them. That missing something was Ember. There is pain and heartbreak between them that they're able to start the healing process through their new relationship with Ember. I do wish we got to see Minni and Lea mate together. We get to see each of them mate with Ember, but not one another.

I adored the scene with Lea and Ember when Lea tells Ember she deserves love. I cried when Lea made Ember say out loud that she loved herself. We got to see Ember start to heal some of her trauma and feel her own self love.

I liked this story, but it was my least favorite one in the series so far. While I liked the couple a lot, something was off from their dynamic. I think Lea and Minni needed to talk more about their past relationship and work through that more.

I'm excited for the last book and I'm hoping maybe we'll see some old friends 👀

Lesbians! The biggest thing I loved about this was that they were lesbians of different kinds! A pretty fem muscle orc. Blonde bombshell with a soft heart vampire. Determined and too proud witch. Just lesbians being lesbians.

Apart from that, it was another stock standard read for this series and follows the normal steps the other books have gone through but with a slight twist! (I know, I was a little shocked too.) The main witch, Ember, gives herself up foolishly thinking that a demon is going to keep their end of the 'deal' without a proper bargain in place. FOOLISH.

Lea was a cutie but it makes me cringe every time she called Ember "little lady", like I get it was meant to be cute and all southern charm but it just... everytime? Minni annoyed me the most and just felt thrown in to "add some tension" for the relationship. Oh, and Ember. How fucking stubborn can someone be!? Girl was suffering a heat and still rocked up to an interview. GIRL YOU KNEW YOU ALREADY HAD THE JOB, EVERYONE KNEW YOU ALREADY HAD THE JOB!

Smut was pretty normal, I just lifted it slightly because I love sapphic romances (even though I sadly read too little of them) and the image of a muscular orc lady wearing a bodycon dress with a strapon was a little bit too hot for me. Otherwise it was written somewhat meh and was okayly enjoyable at best.

Sadly I will not be able to continue with reading the last book, not because I hated this one too much but mostly because one of the main characters spikes up my phobia.

3.6 ⭐️ A solid WLWLW poly spice read!

This was a solid read. Clio Evans is always an automatic purchase for me in paperback because I have in the past re read some of her stuff, 5 times.

I was a little let down by this one just because of the parallels between it and Clio’s other sapphic book (even down to the ending.) Both were great, but I did feel as though both were the same plot slightly jumbled around by the introduction of a poly throuple. I also felt as if the pacing was a little off with this one. A lot of things happened very fast -especially the ending- and I felt like I could have done with either more pages or less spice and more story.

Saying that I still enjoyed it. Clio’s books are always well written and the cover art for this one in particular is awesome. Also finding polly W/W/W spice is impossible, so I’m so glad Evans is feeding us.

The spice as always was immaculate, it’s just the rest of the story I wanted more from.

TW’s listed below pls skip if you don’t want vague spoilers.

TW//CW// Abduction, Voyeurism, Blood play, Bondage & suspension, A/Omega dynamics, Dom/Sub, Spanking, BDSM themes.

the smut was fun but the writing wad not good i fear. sometimes it would straight up take me out the story, especially the cringe dialogue. also i wish authors of erotic either committed to plot or didn’t try to be ambitious with it cuz it ends up feeling lackluster! alfred seemed like a fun guy i wanted more of him! (he probably shows up in the other books but i have no interest in reading non lesbian smut tbh). also hated how a problem would be brought up and then immediately next chapter it’s solved. overall, it’s good for smut and alfred is giving sassy queer coded disney villain vibes but not much else.

Loved

I actually really loved this book! I went in with not high expectations if I’m being totally honest. That is kinda the case when it comes to sapphic books. But this was amazing! Has some good plot but I wouldn’t say it’s hugely in depth. The smut was great (I had to take a few breaks *cough*). The characters were amazing and relatable, I found myself highlighting a lot and thoroughly enjoyed them all. Their connection was great. Overall, great book! Would totally recommend.

This book and romance is my favorite in the series so far. I loved the dynamic between the duos separately and together as a trio. They were so wholesome and perfect together. Not only did I love their romance but I loved each character as an individual. Plus the smut scenes were amazing. I can't wait to see Alex fall in love in the next one!

It feels like a rough draft. The plot is real fuzzy.
And maybe I just need a much, much slower burn to get attached to characters.
Three stars because I feel like it adds positive education in the world about consent and communication.
