He's ice cold and rock solid.
But he'll melt for her.

I couldn't believe it when my friend called to tell me she knew someone desperate for a nanny.

Jobless, broke, and with a landlord who hated me, I had to take it.

Turns out it was too good to be true.

Rex Sloane is cold, hard, and impenetrable. I'm not convinced he's even human. Oh, and he's a dick.

I should've walked my over-qualified legs right out of his penthouse the moment he screamed at me for wearing a tutu with his daughter, but stupid me, I didn't.

His daughter captivated me with her sweet eyes and silent voice, and I couldn't walk away.

Rex is clearly an ass and it's a mistake to stay.

Yet ... I may have to.

For both of them.

This book was disappointing, none of the characters were likeable which made it hard to care about what was going on. I doubt I'll read the next instalment.

It was….ok

This book was just ok. The entire story took place in less than 2 months maybe like only 5 weeks. It dragged then all of a sudden it ended. No I love you’s we’re exchanged. We don’t know what Patrice’s punishment was if any…no conclusions with the baby momma…it was like reading rough draft. The spice was like 1.5 outta 5. It ends suddenly and it’s only a HFN ending.

First thing... this book was beautifully written! That's the main reason for 3 stars, without that I would probably DNF this book!

It was so hard to connect with the MC, the insta lust, the kid that was 5 going on 16!

Can I give half a star? Because I don’t know if one star is deserved.

I usually read or listen to simple smutty tales to entertain myself while I find something from my TBR that’s available at the library. Quick reads to numb the mind (just like when you go for the junk TV sometimes).
While browsing, found this one and decided to give it a go. I’m aiming for entertainment and sexy scenes, but this one read more like comedy skits. The dialogue is so one dimensional…even the dirty talk was corny. I was laughing and cringing the entire time.
I don’t DNF books, but I was soooo tempted with this one. At least the male narrators timbre was great. Made you picture an attractive male (albeit boring).

This is more of a 2.5 rating. I wanted to like this but Rex made it hard. He tried to control everything in his daughters life. He took it to the extreme. Harper who is the new nanny eventually got him to calm down but a little too late. The good news is that in the end Rex allowed himself to finally be happy.

Sing to me

Loved it!! But I’m having a hard time getting a grip on all these romance books these days that don’t give you more insight into the future - after reading all of the details of the characters’ lives & struggles turning into love for each other - in the epilogue. Still an awesome read!

OK book. H needs nanny. They fight their feelings. His ex nanny causes some trouble, because she wants the H. The ex wants to come back in to childs life now thats she off drugs.
I was not satisfied with the ending. What happens with the mom? Does she end up being in daughters life? Nothing is ever said about the incident with h breaking paparazzo camera. What happens to the ex nanny?

New Title: Rock: A Grumpy Single Dad Romance (players to lovers) as of 6/2022

Formerly titled - I'm Not Dating You as of 3/2022

Formerly titled - Rocked by Her (Rockers to Lovers Book 1)

Originally titled - Sing to Me *only find it on Goodreads with this title.

This is Rex and Harper's story; Rex is a band-mate of Easton's and Harper is Taryn's nanny and best friend.

I was a not huge fan of this book because I am not sure exactly where the love was throughout this book. Rex was cold with everyone including his daughter, Stella, who from what it sounds like he was barely around and when he was he was super strict with her. Not to mention, Stella had some serious issues that needed to be dealt with, she was not a child in danger, but she did go through something very traumatizing at a very young age; her behavior was adorably endearing, but it did make me pause from time to time how vindictive she could be. Now we have Harper, a woman with her own tragic past, but gives all her love to her kids she works for and now apparently Rex as well.

This is just me, but I felt like maybe Rex's reaction were a bit all over the place especially when it came to Aesha, Stella's mother. I will not spoil anything about that, but if you hate someone and what they stand for and don't want your daughter to find her belongings, perhaps I don't know you take them out of the house or throw them away. It's like he setup his life for people to piss him off so he can yell at them in all his glory.

I did not like the way Rex treated Harper and essentially used her for sex; now it must be said Harper was down, however, she did say she didn't want to have sex because feelings would get involved, buuuuuut Rex being Rex basically said he didn't care. Then he wanted to complain that Harper was developing feelings for him; I bet you can tell, the man just frustrated the daylights out of me with his whiplash emotions.

I give Harper props for sticking with Rex and Stella especially with Patrice acting like a pyschoe (I said what I said). I would have liked more background on Harper, her very special past and for her ignorant father to get comeuppance.

Next is Mason and Mackenna's story and I can tell it's going to be doozy; the bully and his nerd who became the Rockstar and the Escort ;)

If you love nanny romances with a slow-build spark, a guarded single dad, and a heroine who refuses to quit—this one is about to steal your heart and shake your playlist.

Harper is broke as a joke, sweet, determined, and doing everything she can to stay afloat. She’s been nannying an 11-year-old for a wonderful rock-star family… until she’s told the dreaded “he’s getting too old, he doesn’t need a nanny anymore.”
But fate has other plans. 👀

She gets recommended to another bandmate—Rex, the tattooed, famous, hot-as-sin lead singer with a five-year-old daughter and 300 rules taped to the fridge. Seriously. Three hundred.
And oh—she gets three strikes.
Within two days… she’s already down to one. 😭

But here’s the twist that makes this nanny romance shine:
👉 This is not an insta-love story.
👉 He does not want her there.
👉 Harper has to earn every inch of trust he fights so hard to hide behind.

Rex on stage? A shirtless god who commands the crowd.
Rex off stage? Grumpy, bruised, stubborn, and honestly… a total jerk for most of the book. But the deeper you go, the more you realize that every rough edge has a reason, and every defensive moment is a scar trying to protect itself.

As Harper chips away at his walls—while loving his daughter from day one—you slowly watch this closed-off, complicated man melt in the softest ways. It’s messy, emotional, frustrating, adorable, and so worth it.

⚠️ Trigger warnings: addiction, overdose, drug and alcohol abuse, and moments of child endangerment.

If you like romances where the nanny falls for the single dad after proving her heart of gold, where the grump really does fall for the sunshine, and where the rock-star lifestyle crashes into quiet domestic hope—Rock Me Hard delivers every beat beautifully.

This was my first book by this author, and while I didn’t love it, I’m open to giving her another try.

I usually love this trope, but unfortunately, this one fell flat for me. It came very close to being a DNF, and I had more than a few eye-rolls along the way.

The characters felt inconsistent—not just in the usual indecisive, will-they-won’t-they way (and trust me, I’m a professional at being indecisive)—but in ways that contradicted their previous behavior. The male lead says he doesn’t like making women uncomfortable, but that seems to be his whole personality.

The portrayal of the child character was so off that I actually Googled whether the author has kids. (Not that authors need to have children to write them, but… sometimes it helps.I didn’t find an answer)

Some of the drama and angst felt contrived or forced, especially around certain “dark secrets.”

As for the spice—it was odd. Not closed-door, but more like… “hinted-at spice or kink” that never really landed. And then the prologue (yes, after the book ends) randomly delivers a “scene”.

Overall, it read like a mashup of ideas that never quite came together. The story dragged and felt disjointed, and the ending left me puzzled—not wanting more, just wondering what it was all meant to build toward.

I have an issue with this whole series to be honest. I love the stories, but it is really hard to look past and enjoy the story of each character when the timelines are all over the place.
Rock Me Hard (Rex and Harper) reference Taryn and Easton being together already and Jamie being too old for a nanny so they recommend Harper to Rex for his 5 year old. At the end, Locke shows up at Rex and Harper's penthouse looking for advice about his newfound daughter and impending father status.
In Trust (Locke and Carter), Rex is single and his daughter is a toddler and Harper is not in the picture. Astor (Locke's sister) is engaged to Mike. Asher is introduced to Sophie but no relationship has started. Easton and Taryn aren't together.
In Play Me Wild (Easton and Taryn) Harper is not with Rex but Carter and Locke are engaged, Sophie and Asher are engaged with a child, and Astor is with Ben.
This whole series has SO much potential, but I couldn't get past book 3 because the stories don't line up with their timelines. It just needs a good scrub to get the timelines all to line up properly and the books should be rearranged to fall in that time order as you read.

Rex Sloane! Mr. Sloane! HOTT 🔥

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️/5
🌶️.5/5
Some of the reviews I read, had me unsure about reading this book. I’ve had it saved in my KU to read for awhile now, and decided to give it a chance regardless of the reviews I had read.
I am so glad I did! Bc this book was written so well.

Rockstar/Single Dad/Grumpy meets new nanny he doesn’t want to fall for, but can’t help himself from doing so!

I loved the MC’s so much! Both Harper & Rex! Their storyline was beautifully written! Their banter, their fire, the almost instant connection (that they both tried to fight).. it left me wanting more and more.
His daughter, Stella, is fiesty but also blunt & to the point while also being sweet & charming at moments.

I also loved how this story showed struggle, feelings of neglecting, their past being told (when the time was right), their love unfolding on the pages. It wasn’t smutty but it did have some scenes that were delicious.
HEA was fabulous! Loved it!

*I did find a spot (don’t remember where) that needs some editing bc a paragraph/sentence is repeated.

A Little Lackluster

So I love a good nanny romance, because of the forced proximity and single dad action.... it can be a total swoon. This one however was pretty run-of-the-mill, and I got pretty bored in the middle of the story and wanted it to be over. I found that the conflict was bluh, and not as well executed as it could have been, which was really disappointing. I feel like there were a lot of loose ends by the time the story came to a close, which I also hate. I think that there wasn't enough character development, especially with Stella and Harper. I wanted to actually see Stella make more progress or something but for the most part her character stagnated with only a little bit of progress. This was a boring read that I slogged through and it wasn't for me. The writing was fine, I just have read too many like this and was hoping it would have that unique thing that gripped me...

Actual Rating 3.5

This was such an easy read. While I consider it less of a rockstar romance, rather, he just so happens to be a rockstar, the story focused more on him as a parent and his relationship with the nanny and his daughter. I felt that the romance moved quickly and was a little choppy at some points. Also, we don't see the resolution about the other two women in the story and the drama they caused. The epilogue was really just a continuation of the last chapter and not set at any point in the future to see what becomes of these characters. What I will say I enjoyed was the relationship between the FMC and Stella. That little girl was a handful and a half but she stuck with her and saw the reasons for her acting out. She was a good example and caretaker for her and it was nice to see that girl liven up.

I'd give the other books a go and try something different from the author.

Rex is in need of a new nanny. His long term nanny has quit, and he is scrambling, enter Harper, his band mates wife's former nanny, recently out of work due to the kiddo aging out. Harper seems to be so wrong for the position, she's tardy, doesn't follow the strict schedule, and she sasses him constantly. His daughter loves her. And he quickly finds himself falling too.

This book was okay. It's marketed as rather spicy, but I found the scenes a bit boring. I have read better 1000 word one shot smut on AO3. The plot kept the story going though, and the mystery behind the baby momma kept me interested. I did like how sassy Harper was. I love me a sassy girl standing up to the grumpy gills guy.

There was t anything I truly disliked, I just didn't really like this book. It was ok, but not something I would recommend to my book friends. I would recommend to my romance girlies though.

He kept stella so isolated it’s no wonder she was like that at the start. And the fact that he didn’t want stella to dance is so sad and he didn’t want Stella to listen to his songs? Or have him sing to her at night? Poor Stella, and I think the reason Stella was more open and happy at the end was because Harper let her do things that wasn’t routine, like the dance show, she was so happy, and when she got to see her dad sing on the stage, she was sooo happy. He was just so wrapped up in his ex that he ended up isolating his own daughter. And it seemed he was literally scared to be alone with Stella and that he didn’t spent much time with her.

Love Harper tho, and liked the ending.cringed when he sang to Harper in the airport🤨

Nanny FMC and Grumpy MMC - started off in a strong way. I liked that the FMC was snarky & you could tell the MMC was going to go through a transformation & the kid was deceivingly cute. However, the scenes seemed to go by quickly and there were incomplete issues. Without trying to give away too much, the consequences for the meddling character aren't mentioned & the mother comes in for a couple chapters then is gone. Such a pivotal point to the storyline, as it was basically ALL that the MMC complained about, so I was disappointed not to partake in their decision going forward. I did like that the spice scenes built up over time.

Decently written & quick read - needed better resolution though

Not sure where to start. Pretty sure the author tried to sound more sophisticated by using SAT words but not in the right context. The story telling was stilted and I actually skimmed the sex scene bc they weren’t all that hot. I feel like the book synopsis was for something else.

Also the 5 yo sounds a lot older than 5. She sounds more like a teen.

I skimmed thru half of the book. The story just kept getting more and more convoluted. I spaced out before I got to the epilogue.

Kinda regret wasting my time on it. Should’ve been a DNF

Ok. The book is good.

But I HATE inconsistencies. Hear me out..

The whole timeline of this book takes place AFTER Easton and Taryn's story - after all, Harper used to be their nanny.

Easton and Taryn's story takes place well AFTER Locke and Carter's story. As Locke, Carter, and Lily are mentioned multiple times throughout E&T's book and are an established family unit.

BUT the bonus epilogue to this book has Locke showing up at Rex's place, freaking out to Rex and Harper that he's just found out he's a father and that he's got to figure out how to take care of a baby..

Wth man? Why mess with my brain like this??

DNF - Poor Harper needs to just quit and leave. Stella is like no 5 year old I’ve ever been around. Both her language and actions are not age appropriate. She acts more like she’s 8 or 9. Rex is just awful. He claims to love his daughter more than anything yet he pushes her away and doesn’t want anything to do with fatherhood. I just can’t imagine being around someone who maps out another person’s life down to what they can and can’t eat for breakfast each day. Pancakes are only allowed on weekends???? A control freak like that who controls his daughter’s every move will control everything about his girlfriend as well. No thanks.

Enjoyed It

I gave 4 stars. I would have given 5 but it feels like the author left out bits of information. Like why does Harper all of sudden spend the nights at the house after the tour is over. It was little things and I’m being picky but overall great story I love it. Harper as a character is so well fleshed out with her backstory and her wanting to be nanny. I’ve always found it interesting how people in real life will set their life aside to raise other people children as nanny’s. And Rex was a great character too. He felt like a real father trying to protect his daughter not just needlessly an asshole.

Conflicted

It was a very good book; don’t get me wrong. But there were a couple spots where I found myself SCREAMING out loud like a crazy person. I am aware these characters can’t hear me and their journeys are their own… But when your LMC is an a-hole you beg for the push back. I think that’s why I loved Harper so much. The push without the push and the heel digging when needed. She was such a great and strong female. There were times when I wanted to smack her but, let’s face it, sometimes we cave to hormones. LOL! The storyline was unique and I have a weak spot of rockstar romance.

Stella and Harper

Rex is a rockstar who needs a nanny since Patricia his old nanny is now going to teach Harper someone who used to nanny one of the other bandmates children. She’s very smart and she knows how to talk to kids. Stella is a five-year-old little girl who’s been through a lot And it’s very similar for our age. This book is OK to me. It was people who had too much feelings and just wanted to have sex all the time Stella was a little too grown to only be five years old and Patricia the old nanny was a little crazyif you’re bored read the book or if you’re into rockstars read the book

Have a conversation!

This is one of those books I enjoyed it enough to finish. And I may read the others in the series if i have a lul in reading BUT I didnt feel any chemistry between the MCs u till after their first intimate moment.

Neither of them could act like adults and have real conversations. They talked about their past but their relationship...nada!! Which I get it pushes the story but GD! 🤣 Even a bit of conversation could have made it a bit better but they legit dont talk about it AT ALL other than to say "lets ignore it" 🤣

Never warmed up to the MMC or his kid

I wanted to like this. It has the tropes I like (Grumpy/Sunshine, etc.) but I finished it with a yawn. I really liked the FMC, but the MMC was just an *sshole and never redeemed himself. His kid who should have played a starring role, just fell flat as a spoiled, rotten-attitude kid. When she gives the FMC a hug at the end, it was entirely unbelievable. The bandmates were all two-dimensional, and any and all backstory didn’t create an emotional connection as I’m sure was intended. Hell even the s*x scenes were meh.
