This volume contains seven true crime stories. I have previously read about all of these serial killers, but the stories were interesting nonetheless.
The chapters covered Richard Trenton Chase, Carl Panzram, Dorothea Puente, Gertrude Baniszewski, Harold Shipman, Leonarda Ciancuillo, and Robert Hansen. This is an excellent starter book for new true crime readers because these are all interesting subjects.
This is a book made for true crime buffs. It has a thorough rendition of the life and crimes of seven very distinct serial killers. Previously I'd read some of these full length books as well as shorter works featuring these depraved individuals. Other people were important only in what could be gotten from them by whatever means necessary. Some of those means were truly horrific. They were or at least gave the appearance of being charming, when in actuality they were manipulative narcissists.
It didn't matter who they hurt, how much pain and suffering was caused as long as they ultimately got what they sought. This book should be dedicated to the victims - often forgotten, sometimes never identified, while others were dutifully chronicled as victims of an infamous murderer had family who wished law enforcement had apprehended the evil killers much sooner. The viciousness demonstrated by these callous homicidal monsters is shocking.
A lot of research went into these seven narratives. The authors were thorough giving the reader a very detailed account of the lives and crimes of these notorious killers: Richard Chase, Carl Panzram, Dorothea Fuentes, Gertrude Baniszewski, Dr Harold Shipman, Robert Hansen, and Leonarda Cianciulli.
Stories of seven serial killers from what is knows of their childhoods to their crimes and punishments. Very well done. There is a lot of theory behind what made them what they became. Needs just a small amount of editing.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I couldn't put this down. It's amazing how murderers look like every people & have such dark sides hidden away just waiting for the right moment. I was not disappointed with this anthology!
Really descriptive crime stories. Very disturbing. The one about Dorthea was the BEST because I know of some female manipulators. What is interesting is how they seem to have two separate personalities & are able to gain the trust of those who are truly vulnerable or door-mattish.
