Das Buch von Lutz Kinkel ist wesentlich besser, da Kinkel Leni Riefenstahl nicht alles geglaubt hat, sondern viele ihrer Lügen aufdeckt. Das Buch von Rainer Rother kann man aber ergänzend dazu lesen, weil Rother mehr auf Riefenstahls Arbeit eingeht und ihre Filme bewertet.
Leni Riefenstahl war eine Tänzerin, Schauspielerin und Regisseurin, die von Hitler entdeckt und zum Genie des 3. Reichs aufgebaut wurde. Leni Riefenstahl sah nach dem Krieg nie einen Zusammenhang zwischen der Protektion durch die Politik und ihrem Ruhm, sondern verstand den Erfolg als Verdienst ihres Genies. Aus dieser Perspektive stellten sich ihr nie Fragen der Moral, sondern sie fühlte sich ihr Leben lang unschuldig verfolgt. Der genialen Regisseurin war wohl entgangen, was für ein Star Hitler war und welche Macht er in Deutschland hatte.
Rother beschreibt ihre Karriere, ihre Filme und ihr Image nach dem Krieg, das bis heute durchaus positive Züge hat.
Riefenstahl selbst inszenierte sich als Opfer der Nazis.
Kritik an ihrer Person kämpfte sie in zahlreichen Prozessen nieder, ihr tränenreiches Selbstmitleid hat man ihr nicht verübelt...
Leni Riefenstahl ist eine rätselhafte Person, weil sie behauptete, als Fotografin irgendwie blind zu sein für das, was sie filmte. Und die Öffentlichkeit hat ihr das wirklich abgekauft. Ich denke, die Dame hat sich da bei Hitler abgeschaut, dass man einfach besonders frech lügen muss, um den Menschen ein X für ein U vorzumachen...
Auch dem Autor Rainer Rother fiel auf, dass sie mit dieser Taktik die Journalisten in die Knie zwang.
