A Fortune 500 manufacturing company spends millions attempting to implement a new enterprise resource planning system. Across the globe, a marketing firm with only 150 employees builds a proprietary customer relationship management application and fails miserably in deploying it. These two very different companies did two very different things, but their outcomes were virtually identical. Both organizations failed to activate and use their systems as initially conceived by senior management. In the process, each organization struggled to recover. Good information. Unfortunately I have "lived" most of these examples so there wasn't much new information for me, but a good reminder.
