Tämän kirjan olen lukenut aivan varmasti itse lapsena. Nostalgiahurmaa ei tällä kertaa tullut, eikä omatkaan lapset kokeneet kirjan tapahtumia mitenkään hauskoina.

This is another book that is for children of all ages. With its enchanting illustrations Babette Cole's book makes you turn the pages.

This is the story of Cupid and his mother the Goddess of Beauty and his father the God of Thunder. The three of them go down to earth as Cupid's mum wants to enter the Miss World Competition. After many escapades and a kidnapping Cupid breaks his bow and is very sad. Cupid's father gives him a better bow and Cupid is causing further trouble to this day.

Cupid's journey is a cheeky and fun one with the consequences of his actions being love. I would possibly like to read this book to the children and discuss what Cupid's parents might do to correct his naughty behaviour.

(The cataloging for this and Truelove is a mess, BTW.)
A student picked this one up and asked me to sit with her and read. So I did... and I regretted it. There's irreverent, wacky humor, and then there's weird racism - and this was definitely weird racism, from the "Indian" costume Cupid wears and the East Asian(?) Hi Wun of Lowhi. Yikes.
Do not recommend.
